s106300
We are wondering if anyone has successfully installed and used roof racks on their Smart for Two (ours is a 2012)? Also, we are contemplating buying electric bikes and are curious to know if any in the HDT community have purchased those and installed a bike rack on the Smart. Is it feasible? Dennis M
Curt makes a receiver hitch for the smart, I put one on our 2011 and it works great carrying two bikes on a Swagman bike rack. As the smart is so low I had to have an extension made to bring the rack up 8" for ground clearance. The link shows the specs, but do a Google search on the hitch, they can be found a lot cheaper. rdickinson
I have one of those racks, it is a pain to get the bike on the inside holder. If the rack tilted out like a Yakima model it would be a lot easier.

On mine I pull the pin and fold the vertical post, the inside bike loads just as easily as the outside one.
rdickinson
No, it doesn't. Got the Swagman last year. I looked for one that did, only Yakima had a 2 bike rack that folded down enough...shoulda got it instead.
