RV_
It is time to go to Windows 8.1 or 10, or back to Windows 7 as Windows 8 is no longer supported as of yesterday. You hated it, it's gone. Excerpt: "Retires the unloved OS from all support, including security updates; 48 million users must upgrade to Windows 8.1 or Windows 10. Windows 8, Microsoft's 2012 flop, will be retired from all support today, putting the 48 million users who still run the three-year-old operating system in a spot: Upgrade or risk getting hacked. After today, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates for Windows 8 -- or for IE10 and IE11, the company browsers that run on the OS -- and the company will not offer technical support for the operating system." Lots more info and charts showing how many this affects in the full article here: http://www.infoworld.com/article/3021793/operating-systems/microsoft-revokes-windows-8s-patch-privileges-today.html?token=%23tk.IFWNLE_nlt_infoworld_tech_microsoft_2016-01-13&idg_eid=6aa01e18b29f7b6f9149f611f8eac228&utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=InfoWorld%20Windows%20Report%202016-01-13&utm_term=infoworld_tech_microsoft#tk.IFW_nlt_infoworld_tech_microsoft_2016-01-
Mark and Dale Bruss
What timing. A few days ago I took on old Win 8 laptop out of storage because I needed a VGA port. The laptop has been out of use for well over a year. After I turned it on and let the battery recharge, it asked to Reboot for the Updates. On the Reboot, I was at 5 out of 188 updates. Today I fianaly got the laptop to say there it was up to date. Just in time.
