The Class-less Class

Sandie & Jim

Recommended Posts

We have made it back into Oregon. We spent a few great days in Likely Ca. before making the run to Central Oregon where we are mooch docking at friends outside of La Pine. Been bike riding and hiking some and catching up on things. This is the 3rd fulltime couple we know that are now going off the road and doing a house within the last few months . They have a nice setting and we are happy for them.

We will hang out here for maybe another day or 2 and then head west. We have an appointment to have a air-conditioner looked at on Monday in Eugene.

Glad you had a safe travel. How's the pollen there? LOL!

Actually have had no problem at all. Diane just a little on the golf course in Likely because they had just mowed. But I'm sure it will happen soon enough this summer. Not looking forward to it LOL!! Like anyone would except the medication suppliers.

Here's a little satellite story for all of you that have a SK3005 Winegard Travler. I noticed that we were not getting asterisks on two of the satellites 110 and 119. Then also noticed that we were not getting a few of our HD channels also. Looking at the unit we found that one of the horizontal cables was corroded and replaced it. That fixed the asterisk problem, however, after a while the antenna would go up, look for a while, give a No LNB voltage error and then re-park. This is not good when you're getting ready to record the "big game"! :o There are four (4) small shielded cables running vertically from the top of the base of the unit, through the shaft up to the LNB's on the end. They are labeled a, b, c and d. I asked Winegard what was wrong and they said if I took cable © and changed it with cable (a) then if the "No LNB voltage warning went out it was the © cable that was bad. That's the one that carries the voltage to the LNBs. They said that if I had the standard SK3005 antenna it only needed two good cables to work, but if I had a SWM8 kit on the antenna I would need all four cables working to have all the functions. I have the SWM8 kit. I asked if they had a wiring diagram for the 4 wires and they said " it doesn't matter which cable the a, b, c, d are hooked to, as long as all four of them are hooked up". Sounds crazy to me, but I ordered the four cables and should have them Monday. We'll see! to be continued.........

The plastic coating on the coaxial cable for my over the air antenna started flaking off. Rain got inside down in Miami and shorted out the connection going into the rv.. We had to reroute new cable from inside at the switch box out to the antenna and a new cable to the antenna. Had to replace the new cable to the antenna in Canton, Tx. a few weeks ago when over the air reception went bad again. Now I've put split loom tubing over all the coaxial cable to the OTA antenna and satellite dome to protect it from the sun. Got to have my television.

Travel safe everyone.

Lee- Have the seizures stopped yet? Sure hope so. Has the cavalry got there yet? (Your niece). Keep us updated as you can.

Jerry and Janice

Seems the seizures have subsided. Now all I have is a feeling my right lower leg and right fore arm are going to sleep. And extreme tiredness. I run out of juice after about 5 minutes of any activity.

Yes my niece and nephew are here they arrived about 2 pm today. We are working frantically getting the Navion ready because they have to leave for Iowa no later than Thursday and preferably on Wednesday heading for Iowa. I'll see them again about the 14th of May when we'll finish getting rid of the rest of the junk here and all 3 of us head fore Charleston, SC. The next few days will be devoted to shredding papers.

Lee, are you headed to the HWH factory in Moscow, Iowa? If so, how long do you plan on being there? Lynn and I are back in the Quad Cities (which is not very far from Moscow) visiting old friends and doctors. It sounds like you're on a tight schedule but, maybe we could get together for a visit if time allows. Also, if you need any help or info on the area, please let us know!

Roger, I'm staying here in Deming. My Niece and Nephew will make the trip alone then come back and help me finish up here and then take me back to SC. I'll go into assisted living there.

After rereading your previous post Lee, I see that I'd apparently not had enough coffee this a.m. I think that you have my contact info so, please let your Niece and Nephew know that my offer applies to them too!

Rest up if you can and get your strength back.

Lee, I found the hardest part about getting my strength back was getting enough food into me. Hopefully the cowgirls are keeping you well fed and not just dropping off food you are too tired to prepare. Denise taught me about Boost/Ensure and it helped a lot when I was recovering from that seriously bad flu. Denise prefers the strawberry but it is hard to find so I drank chocolate and it was fine. I found the Ensure easier to open.

Rest of the story on the winegard travler. Received the shielded cable package (has four cables with a common outer covering), about $64. Our son went up on the roof and installed it and now everything works. Turns out two of the cables were bad. One was all the way bad, and the other was intermittent, so that was what was driving us crazy. Now we are supposed to have tornados this afternoon, so I just got the antenna back in time to watch for them. They are already letting schools out early, so I guess it's time to find a good restaurant with a tornado shelter. Oh well.

Glad you're feeling some better Lee, that small stroke I had a couple of years ago slowed me down for a while. Everything worked, but I couldn't get my energy level back for about 6 months or so. That and I couldn't play the piano very well. Oh yeah, I never did learn to play that thing anyway, that was Carol that played. I guess my memory suffered also. Hmmmmmm

We drove up to Van Horn, Tx. from Lajitas, tx. O my was it windy. Between Marfa and Van Horn we slowed 3 times to let dust devils/ storms blow across the highway. Weather guy say tomorrow will be better.

I was hoping the third time would be the charm with the old Jeep in the Big Bend area. We drove from Lajitas to the westside of the National and over to Presidio through the State park. Last night drove over to the Starlight Theatre in Terlingua for dinner. This morning go to start the Jeep to hookup the tow bar and the battery is dead. Only needed to move it a foot or so to hookup so we just rolled it. Bought a new battery in Alpine. That's the last trip to the Big Bend area for the old Jeep. 3 strikes and you're out. LOL.

Not only travel safe but be safe everyone.

We rolled into Eugene Oregon a couple days ago, going to have a A/C unit fixed, get service done on the motorhome and then roll down to Grants Pass where Dr., dentist, auto, financial advisor, trying to sell a car and trike and other appointments will take over our life for a couple weeks, uuuuugh. Thank goodness we have a number of friends in the area to numb the pain LOL!!

Everyone stay & get well.

Well we got a line of storms through here tonight. A couple of small tornado's on the north side of OKC, but just high winds and a little hail here at the fairgrounds. Not big enough hail to do any damage, but you never know. We pulled in the slides and are getting ready to put them back out again. Storms are still building a bit east and north of here, but the rear of them are getting ready to get by us. Still raining though.

I hate those storms. We've been through many and they've always been in the south. We had hail a couple days ago and we laughed. It was small tiny hail and never felt a threat. There was no need to pull in any slides and no damage to worry about. Get out of the south, Steve!

Tina and I have stopped in Deming over night to see Lee. He is looking and sounding real good. Says he hasn't had a seizure for a week. His niece and nephew left yesterday morning to get things taken care of on the Navion in Iowa and South Dakota. We went to dinner at the Adobe Deli. It's quite a place in the middle of nowhere. He says they will all head for Charleston, SC in the middle of May and he'll go to assisted living there.

It's been very windy (mostly a head wind) driving the last 2 days and it looks like the wind is suppose to blow into the weekend. Moving on to Douglas, Az. today.

Be safe everyone.

Great! Thanks for the update. We all worry about Lee and want him to get better. I'm glad you stopped to visit and also glad you got to check out the Adobe Deli with him. We've been there a couple times and love that place !!
