  1. The first thing I want say is this has been a very good discussion on said subject. If you have a Cummins n14, I believe Cummins no longer has a new ecm for you. They do have a kit that will work for your engine. BBBut you need to install a new cam. Or have someone install it for you. And then they have a ecm that will work with a new cam installed. I do not know if other older Cummins engines have a new ecm available for your engine. There are a number of ecm rebuilders, that can provide a rebuilt unit for you. Second thing is the time to get one. It needs programming to fit your engine. We have a Cummins n14, and with the engine serial number, it can be preprogrammed. That way it can ride along with you, until that moment arrives. Now if you sell your truck, the next owner may appreciate you having one riding along. Now out of real desperation, you may have a ecm your buddy might need. Ya, that is a wild statement. It has been interesting to read the different responses.
  2. What is working or not working? It could be something simple. Or not. Then we can go from there.
  3. I am glade you corrected my thoughts, Darryl. I might have taken mine apart, just to see that battery.
  4. Now that is adventurous. That could be above my ability. Although I have fixed a few circuit boards for RV situations. That is very interesting to me.

If you take a picture with your phone. Then you will have a date and time, along with what code is showing. Could be helpful with future reference at a glance. Thanks for the update.
  6. Just in case ? Down the road you may remember this subject.

Time to read the operators manual. I know it is frustrating at this time, to even think about that. But that will get you on the correct path for understanding how to figure these problems out. More thinking follow.
  8. I have been researching my diagnosis. It is confusing to me. And it is scary to me also. My normal Ophthalmologist is the one that originally diagnosed me. I had never met the first ophthalmologist, before I had eye problems. So from September 3 2020 until December 18th 2021. I was getting injections in both eyes. Every 6 weeks or shortly there after. Up till my last visit, I believe he just thought that my situation finally got bad enough to see a eye doctor. That I had problems for some time before. As in not just 4 to 6 weeks that I had vision problems. This was the summer of 2020. Second ophthalmologist just went along with it. He was in Truth or Consequences NM. There is another very rare explanation for my situation. I have only stumbled it to this situation about a week ago. I am still trying to understand my situation. I am planning on getting the information to my ophthalmologist this week. At the last visit he did ask if I could share what I find, if I thought it was related to my situation.. will keep informed.
  9. Yesterday I stopped at the local Walmart. Yes they did have several different fuel treatments. Including the one you posted. That is one of there products that I have been using. Thanks for that information.
  10. Darryl got me to thinking about fuel treatment. I will check in local stores to see if they have any on there shelves.
  11. What happens to the bacon. Does it just slide off.
  12. I was around well drilling equipment for 30 years. I had heard of the problem before. Just never experienced it before. Looking back the fuel tanks should have been topped off before parking. And being in South Carolina, it should of had treatment in it. More mini series are being thought of. They could have something to do with our adventure this year. Switching to watermelon is a good idea. Just leave the salt off The melon.
  13. When I say pumping treatment through the fuel system. Along with the recirculating of fuel in The tanks for hours with treatment in it. I pumped that same treated fuel through the fuel lines up to the fuel pump on the engine. I used a small pump that would pump like 5 gallons a hour. That way the treatment was through both filters and all the suction sides supply lines.
  14. Most likely it is hard wired in place. It could be a plug end. I have seen both in older rv’s What is wrong with the old unit?
  15. I am curious? Does 0 degrees temperature kill algae. Could just wait for that to happen. So I do have some of that algicide leftover from the trip. I may add that next weekend and get it mixed in for a day or two. Then take the truck for ride somewhere. I will be on the lookout for that crap, every time I can look into the tanks. I think that pumping the treatment through the fuel system may have helped eliminate that algae. Even eliminated some fuel leaks plugging stuff. Not sure how to word that subject. Sure makes ya wonder if it will bite again.
  16. Today I counted my used fuel filters. 20 in all. So that was 10 times of changing the filters. I probably change at least 3 sets that were not needed. And they were all at very inconvenient locations. But we made it to Montana. That is what counts. Safe Travels to all, Vern
  17. Yesterday I had a appointment with my ophthalmologist. Did the normal eye test. Prescription for my glasses are the same. The ophthalmologist said that my eyes look good. Basically my problems are gone, that were causing AMD. I had wet in the left eye and dry in the right eye. I will try to get a copy of my report on Monday. To have a better understanding of his diagnosis’s. Vern
  18. This is the filtering system I used to treat the Aquahot fuel tank. That black fuel tank? I also used this system to pump treatment through the truck fuel lines while the 10 gym system was treating the fuel tanks. It uses a fuel pump of say 5 + gallons per hour. Available at local auto parts stores. With a filter inline before the pump.
  19. Looking around the tank and the bottom looks like it did before the algae appeared.
  20. This a photo of our fuel tank today. We have not added fuel or driven the truck since we arrived in Montana.
  21. I will take a picture of mine tomorrow and see how the bottom looks. I will post on here.
  22. About 8 years ago, I installed a Aquahot heating system in our fifthwheel. It uses diesel fuel. The black tank is the onboard fuel tank. It is on the inside of the two tanks. If you look to the left side of the black tank, you can see the clear fuel level line. So when I would change fuel filters on Aquahot systems in my business. I would drain the fuel filters into a clean, clear container. Let it sit a day or two. Then pour the old fuel into my Aquahot fuel tank. The one you see in these photos. If I changed my truck filters, it went in there also. What did I doooooo? I may have poured some fuel from my truck filters in there. That was in the beginning. Yep, I did? Is there algae in there also. That container on top is algicide. I did treat it in South Carolina just before we left there. So yesterday I decided to treat it again. Just in case it has ( you know what ) in there. Yesterday’s results showed no algae in that system. That was close.
