is there someplace to unhook my fiver and then look around for a place to camp, or do we just drive around hooked up til we find a spot? Thanks everybody for all the replies!

You can always go to any of the free BLM areas and drop your RV there while you look around.  You'll probably have to register with the camp host, but it's free and you're not obligated to stay there if you find another place you like better.

But now that I think about it, I don't know how you'd know if it had been reprogrammed for Dish.

Many, many years ago, we had a KingDome.  There are instructions in the Owner's Manual for setting the switches for either Dish or DirecTV (it involves taking the dome off in order to access the guts of the equipment inside).  Since it sounds like the OP doesn't have the Owner's Manual, he might be able to find it at King's website, Home (kingconnect.com) or give them a call.  As suggested, get the model number off the dish.

Makes me wonder if you have to pay a month first? I don't usually sign up for the newest things until after they have been around for a while so am waiting to see what people think after it happens for a while.

I wondered about that, too, because I wasn't able to find ANY gas -- or diesel -- locations throughout the entire U.S.!

Regardless, the only time this would be of any value to us is during the fall when we head south for the winter and again in the spring when we head back north.  During the rest of the year, we're at home and normally only have to fill the car with gas once every month.  A savings of $.12 per gallon would save us around $1.00, but we'd have to spend $4.00 to get that savings!

  4. Second Chance, thanks for the information.  I'll file it away for the future.  Fortunately, I finally got it working again!

I searched online for "How do I get my wireless adapter back" and came up with several fixes, some of which I'd already tried, and/or didn't work.  However, the one that DID work was going to Network adapters on the Device Manager, right clicking on the network adapter's name, selecting Update driver, and then restarting the computer.

    Big sigh of relief!

  5. It was working fine earlier this morning, but it stopped while I was online.  It does that occasionally, but I've always been able to get online again by turning the hotspot on my phone off and then turning it back on again.

This time, that didn't work.  When I click on the "No Internet Connection" icon on the right side of the task bar, the list of wifi hotspots near me don't appear like they always do.  Instead, all I see is the Airplane Mode button, but no Wifi button.  It's like the wifi adapter has just disappeared.  I've also gone to Settings > Network & Internet and run the Troubleshooter, but still have the same problem.

I've turned off both the computer (Windows 10) and my phone (android), but that didn't solve the problem so I have no idea where to go from here!

    HELP!

  6. When you say "custom built," do you mean you're going to construct the travel trailer yourself, or are you working with an RV manufacturer such as New Horizons or Spacecraft?

The latter should be no problem in finding a lender (we had a New Horizon fifth wheel that we got financing for).  The former, however, would be more difficult, if not impossible.

They have "deals" on the app that you can only get if you use their card and added savings if you use their card too....

You'll use your Pay with GasBuddy card to purchase gas at the pump. In addition to redeeming your GasBack, the card saves you up to 25¢ per gallon. It's completely free, requires no paperwork or credit check, and is the one gas card accepted at stations nationwide.

its like TSD in that its an ACH link to a checking account....no fees... just the stupid transaction limist makes it pointless for our situation...

Can it only be linked to a checking account?  If so, that wouldn't work for us then.  And, it would be pointless for us, too, since -- when we're traveling -- the RV usually takes more than $75 to fill up, particularly at today's prices.

Why would anyone go south from SLC to pick up I-40, when they can pick up I-80 and head west right out of the driveway?   Please tell us that was a typo.

The OP is talking about SR-140 which heads west from US-95 north of Winnemucca, NV, through the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge and on into Oregon through Lakeview, Klamath Falls, and ends at Medford.

We've driven the road, but the OP may want to take a look to see what the Mountain Directory West has to say about it before deciding whether or not to drive it with their long rig.

To the OP:  If you do decide to head this way, be sure to fill up with fuel in Winnemucca because the next fuel stop won't be until Lakeview, which is 211 miles from Winnemucca.

The $75 daily limit refers to using the Gas Buddy discount card. $75/day and $300/month. Of course you can buy all the fuel you want without the discounts just using Gas Buddy to locate stations.

    Card limits

To help prevent abuse and fraud, there is a $75 daily limit and a $300 weekly limit on all Pay With GasBuddy cards.

Haven't ever used Gas Buddy's credit card.  Never even knew they had one.

It would be interesting to know what your problem was, as I use visible and have never ahd a problem with my apps not working, or any other issues that could have been rlated to Visible.  Of course, now that i've said that . . . . . .

As would be expected, if I am in a poor signal area I will get poor reception. What phone system do you have:  android or Apples ios? I have an iPhone. My expereince is that apps have nothing to do with the internet, as they connect to teh internet via an internal modem/hotspot, which is before you would ever reach Visible.

So, again, it would be interesting to know what your problem really was?  I assume you reset the phone, and then reinstalled all your apps to see if there was an internal glitch?

I explained the two problems I had in my first post, above.  I had an android phone, as all my phones have been.  The last problem I had, the CSR recommended that I reset the phone, but by that time I was too irritated with the whole setup and didn't feel like going to all the trouble to reinstall apps -- and then I probably would have had the first problem again because the CSR on that chat had to do something on their end.

I know we’ve all been forced to deal with the COVID problems but why now that almost all other businesses are open and there are safeguards in place to safely open why is Escapees front office still CLOSED?

I have no idea, but I suspect that TXiceman's explanation may be correct.  That, of course, is only a guess.

Question is -- did you ever find your package?

  12. We spent the winter of 2020/2021 near Yuma as we've done for the past several years.  For the most part, we continued to order groceries online for pickup and when we wanted to "eat out" we also ordered online for pickup.  Unfortunately, we may not be able to make the trip south this winter due to DH's medical concerns.  If we are able to go, it won't be until sometime in December.

I am fully vaccinated and will get a booster when time allows.

    Same here.

We went for our flu shots a couple of weeks ago and DH was also able to get his Moderna booster since he has cancer.  I'll have to wait for my booster when Moderna is approved for such.

I was just reading the Charmin labels and they say that they are safe for septic systems.  Is this good enough?

We've been using Charmin for years.  The key, no matter which toilet paper you use, is to use plenty of water when you flush.  And, of course, keeping the black tank closed until it's time to dump!

I heard that only Pfizer would be getting boosters but that has not actually been approved yet despite certain pronouncements. Have ya'll heard something different than what is being reported?

That's my understanding.  Pfizer is on track to be approved for a booster shot by the 20th, but Moderna hasn't gotten all their info in, so will probably lag behind.  We got the Moderna vaccines, so will have to wait until the booster shot is approved...hopefully, soon.

Pfizer booster likely to be OK’d by Sept. 20, but Moderna’s may lag, Fauci says (msn.com)

On the topic of getting a LLC in Montana…I was told by an RV Dealer that doing that would solve the issue of having to get a Class B Non CDL.

I would never take the word of an RV dealer -- for much of anything, but particularly about this issue since the dealer is wrong.

Unless you are also planning to make Montana your domicile state, docj is correct in saying that your driver's license has to be obtained from your domicile state.  If that state is Texas and your rig meets or exceeds the weight requirements, then you'll need a Class A or Class B non-CDL driver's license.

driving your own vehicle to take the test is driving illegally.

I think you're way overthinking this.  Most, if not all of us, who have had to get the upgraded Texas driver's license have driven to the test site with whatever driver's license we currently have.  I have never heard of anyone being ticked or arrested for driving to the test site with the "wrong" driver's license.
