  1. Terry is cancer-free after 6 years. Our fingers are crossed it continues for 6 more and then 6 more and so on.

Terry's mom had the Mohs surgery last year on cancer on her nose and under her eye.. They had to go back four times to get it all but it worked as planned and other than a bit of restructuring, no other treatments for cancer in those areas were needed.

Good luck to Dave and we're glad for Diane.

  2. We've been clam digging at the coast !! Wanted to fly the drone and take pictures of all the clam diggers. However, the weatherman predicted winds of 15-25 so didn't bother taking it. However, the morning would have been perfect. Fire the weather forecasters !!

  3. She can't wait to get into a Motel where she chances getting bed bugs and every kind of germ and virus that floats through the air.

I agree with Roger. The first thing we do is throw the bedspread on the floor. We've watch too many Hotel Impossible series that black light the bedspread. Good thing is many hotels are already doing away with those bedspreads and sticking with just the sheets. Can't understand why she wants a motel when she's got the Navion! Did you show her the beds?

  4. Tina and I have stopped in Deming over night to see Lee. He is looking and sounding real good. Says he hasn't had a seizure for a week. His niece and nephew left yesterday morning to get things taken care of on the Navion in Iowa and South Dakota. We went to dinner at the Adobe Deli. It's quite a place in the middle of nowhere. He says they will all head for Charleston, SC in the middle of May and he'll go to assisted living there.

It's been very windy (mostly a head wind) driving the last 2 days and it looks like the wind is suppose to blow into the weekend. Moving on to Douglas, Az. today.

    Be safe everyone.

    Jeff :)

Great! Thanks for the update. We all worry about Lee and want him to get better. I'm glad you stopped to visit and also glad you got to check out the Adobe Deli with him. We've been there a couple times and love that place !!

  5. Well we got a line of storms through here tonight. A couple of small tornado's on the north side of OKC, but just high winds and a little hail here at the fairgrounds. Not big enough hail to do any damage, but you never know. We pulled in the slides and are getting ready to put them back out again. Storms are still building a bit east and north of here, but the rear of them are getting ready to get by us. Still raining though.

I hate those storms. We've been through many and they've always been in the south. We had hail a couple days ago and we laughed. It was small tiny hail and never felt a threat. There was no need to pull in any slides and no damage to worry about. Get out of the south, Steve!

  6. Terry's mom went into a facility that is Senior Living but they do have a section there for assisted living. It's a really nice place. She loves the people and it's worked out great for her. A good place makes all the difference. Good luck to you. We also loved Charleston ! Don't escape, Lee, until you're sure you can get away.

Well, we haven't been to Borrego Springs so I would like to go sometime this next season. We'd also like to visit Parker and the Colorado River with the kayak, San Diego and, of course, we'll be in the Tempe/ Chandler area for a bit of the time. Sounds like we'll have neighbors in Casa Grande. I'd still like to rent a houseboat on Lake Mead (?) but that's probably not this season. I like Tucson very much especially in the foothills. ---

  7. Starting to plan our winter travels next year and was wondering if there are any early plans for a Quartzite gathering in January 2017??? We plan to spend December in San Diego and then slowly head east from there...

Golly, you want us to commit to January in April ?? I can tell you we'll be in and out of the Portland area most of the summer and head south in late fall probably San Diego area (maybe). We've been to "Q" many times. Maybe a different location for next January ? Yuma? Tucson? Borrego Springs?

  8. We have made a couple more moves. After a couple nights in Q we headed to Laughlin and spent 3 nights, then to Pahrump and spent 2 nights and drove 260 miles today and are now dry camping by Walker Lake outside of Hawthorne Nevada. Got some good wind right now, heck I keep waiting for surfers to get out on the lake with the white caps there are!! Nice spot with a great lake view. Plan to spend 2 nights here but if the weather doesn't change we might just stay hunkered down until we run out of water anyway. Probably have enough onboard for 4 days maybe 5 but I'm sure it will clear up by then. It's worse where we are headed so no need to make that move LOL!!

Well, we haven't been able to practice flying as much as we wanted. However, it has been so much fun that we upgraded to a Phantom 3 Advanced. Now I just need to figure it out. We're hoping to get a little flying in when we get north. We did discover if the batteries in the remote die, you just might have a flyaway! Not fun but all turned out okay.

  9. . The Cowgirls even ask me if I need someone to cook for me. I should take them up on it. Wow.

That's good news that your niece is coming out. So, you will be going to South Carolina and the good thing is you won't have to do the driving. We all want to know how you're doing so if possible, keep us informed. You definitely should take the cowgirls up on doing the cooking for you. You've certainly taken them to enough meals. I'm sure they are more than willing to cook you a few too. Glad to hear that the seizures are mild. Hopefully, that's a good sign and the medicine is working. Take care !

  10. Lee - If you need us for anything, we are only a few hundred miles away. So, sorry to hear what you're going through. We thought you were probably up in the mountains since we hadn't heard from you. Take care and keep us posted as much as you can.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

  11. They advertise four sites but, in reality there's only room for two and you'd have to get creative parking the second rig. That being the case, there was one motor home that was there dry camping for the night that was gone when we returned. It was an expensive big rig and don't suspect them but, you never know. Since it's in a high traffic area, I think it's likely that it was others. There's a pond and playground nearby which might attract somebody.

You have a safe and fun trip back to Washington!

    R

A thief is a thief for sure. I'm anxious to hit the road but with Terry's brother flying in Sunday, we need to hang around an extra few days. The trip to Washington will just be travel, travel, travel so I can't say it'll be much fun. Enjoy Branson !

  12. Well, it finally happened. I've been "camping" for about 55 years And for the first time we had items stolen from our site (other than the beer that seems to disappear outta the cooler)! Not sure if staying at an Elks qualifies as a campground however. We pulled into the Fayetteville Elks Monday and after awhile I noticed a diesel odor and looked under the rig. Sure enough, there was a 12" wide puddle and a very slow drip. Made an appointment to replace a hose and of course getting repairs on the road is always an adventure in it's self and that's another story. After backing out of the site we placed our folding table and portable entry step in the middle to let others know that it's occupied. After the all day fun and driving in 5:00 traffic we returned to find our site unoccupied but missing said items. They did leave us the door mat but, must've really needed those $100 steps. Glad I didn't set out more items!

On to Branson tomorrow. Sounds like there's a lot of moving going on out there...stay safe!

    Roger

Anyone else at the Elks or were you the lone "camper"? We've been lucky so far too and never had anything stolen. I hope saying that doesn't jinx us. We haven't done Branson in years but did do Pigeon Forge last fall. I envy you your next adventure there ! Have fun.

  13. We move near our "home base" yesterday. Time for Doctor appointments for all of us, furkids too. Hopefully 2 weeks will be enough.

My feet are hurting from all the walking in Canton at the fleamarket. No major purchases except for a stun gun for Tina to keep me in line. LOL.

    Travel safe everyone.

    Jeff :)

A stun gun for TINA? Is that to make you behave better? Canton is definitely huge!

Yup, we to have started our move north to visit family & friends and Dr. appointments. We moved from Casa Grande on April first to Plomosa Road for 2 nights in Q. Then we made a move to Laughlin Nevada for 3 nights and will head to Pahrump in the morning for probably 2 or 3 nights.

We don't start north for another ten days but I'm anxious. Weatherman says temperatures are going to creep up to close to 100!!!!!!!! That's too hot for me.

PS ... we ended up with the Phantom 2 Vision

  14.

Not a problem getting a 2 without a camera and adding this ... http://www.dji.com/product/zenmuse-h3-3d to mount your GoPro to. I don't know about now but they used to have issues with the gimbal on the Vision model but that may have been changed by now. The gimbal was weak but he Zenmuse hold up very well. And yes, prices have come down a lot from when I bought mine. :(

We're discovering there are similar ones now in about the same price range. We're going to check out Fry's today too and one on Craigslist. The Vision model seems to come with a camera already installed. We also saw a Phantum DC40. I guess they are pretty much the same except that one doesn't seem to have the GPS mode. So many toys, so little time. :)

  15.

Yup, I'm here. I guess it all depends on what you want to do with it. I opted for the DJI Phantom 2 and put a aftermarket gimble and a GoPro camera on it and transmit a live feed to a 7" color monitor. But the main purpose for me was to take pictures and video. At the time it was among the best on the market but that was over a year ago so things have changed but I'm happy with what I have. Some of the small ones are even more difficult to fly I have found LOL!!

One of them we looked at was the Phantom 2. They certainly have come down in price. However, not sure of the differences between Phantom 1, 2 or 3. The Phantom Vision seems to be the only one we've seen with an attached camera. However, I already have a GoPro. We also looked at a Q222 but that's smaller and has some type of camera on it. Not sure quality of the camera though. As I said, we don't know much about any of them yet but are looking. I guess you have to register all of them now kinda like getting a license.

  16. I like toys. I guess that's no secret ...... so, Dave Kersey, are you out there? I want to talk quadcopters. We looked at some today. Not sure if a "toy" is all we really want or Phantom but don't know much the difference. Not sure either if I don't just want to play with a small one. We looked at some that used the cell phone for video and some that don't. Input? Comments?

  17. Interesting day today .... long and tiring. We reserved the U-haul trailer for the trip up north and spent the rest of the day with Terry's mom fixing one thing or the other. Had a terrible lunch at Outback and then had dinner with Terry's mom at her senior living facility. That's when we both realized that the lunch at Outback wasn't so bad. She's in a pretty spendy place so I was surprised but she thinks the food is great and so do all her friends. That's all that really matters. So, tomorrow we're getting with my brother and wife, then Easter with Terry's family and Monday we have a new windshield put in the motorhome. Busy, busy ..... We're also getting together with Sandi & Jim plus Jan & Bill plus Kay & Dan on Monday for lunch. Now that'll be fun!
