  1. The gall bladder surgery sure has improved. Terry has a big long scar from where he had it done years ago but our daughter's scar is almost nothing. Thank goodness for advancement in medicine. Hope Carol recovers quickly. I'm sure she'll feel much better now that it's gone too.

  2. Tina and I ate lunch at Lambert's Cafe yesterday here in Foley, Al. I know a few have eaten at Lambert's Cafe before but you that haven't I think it's a must do. Back last June we ate at the one in Ozark, Mo. so we had to do it again when we were this close. The portions are great and the "throwed rolls" are the size of a softball. We had lunch and dinner yesterday and still have leftovers. LOL. If you get a chance to go you can't miss it. There are only three and the third one is in Sikeston, Mo.

One of the coldest mornings we've had this "winter". 39 degrees and could be a little colder tomorrow. Sounds like a beach day. LOL.

    Travel safe everyone.

    Jeff :)

We ate there when we were in Foley too. What a great experience for sure AND the food was terrific!

  3.

What ever happened to that "slow trek westward". LOL. You guys have left us in the dust if there was any. It's all mud from days of rain. Yesterday was a do nothing day just staying dry. Temps are going to cool for a couple of days and the rain showers are suppose to stop today. It's sunny now. Going to Fairhope for an Arts and Crafts Festival and a Trade Days. Taking the unbrellas.

Apparently the Elks lodge property here in Foley, Al. is sold or being sold. One of the residents told me it will be gone in the next year or so.

    Travel safe everyone.

    Jeff :)

I think many of the Elks are having trouble financially. We think part of it is due to not changing to capture younger people with the money to pay the dues. We've stayed at Elks as we moved and talked to lots of them about it. Some have embraced the Scouts and younger groups. They're doing better than those that won't change. The Elks in Boulder City said they lost a lot of older members when they cut smoking out but then started gaining younger folks. I hate to see them go away.

We noticed online that the Hill Country is getting hit with storms again. I'm so glad we're out of it for now. I guess I should look at the weather forecast before I say that though.
    Be safe!
  4. We were at the HWH factory last year...great service and didn't charge us for things that they could have. Glad that you came out on top Lee!

Make sure that Jeri and Terry give you an extra hug from Lynn and me!!

Yes. We discussed you and Lynn. How was your long travel day to Johnson City? As you can see our travel days were very different than what we told you they would be. It looks like more storms in the Hill Country. Stay safe!

  5. JERI and Terry got here a day early so we went to Adobi Deli for lunch. I can attest to the fact that Jeri has a very big mouth. You should have seen the sandwich she got wrapped around. Note that I didn't mention Terry or myself. It sure was good to be with them again.

HAHA You're so funny! It was great seeing you again. It always is. We went to Adobe Deli and those were the biggest and best french dip sandwiches we have ever had. We almost had to ask for to-go boxes when we were originally served! Getting here a day early meant no storms but I was zonked. It was a mighty early time to bed last night but it'll take a while to adjust to two time zone changes in two days when we cross over into Arizona in a few hours. We hope those storms are finally behind us. We'll be in Tucson for about a week before we head on into the Phoenix area for another week or two.

JERI: There was nothing wrong with the slid but the loose nut behind the sreering wheel. The parking break must be set before you can operate the slide. It wasn't.

I'm glad it was an easy fix. Those easy fixes are the best fixes. Take care and thanks again. It was great seeing you.

  6. Can't wait to chew Jeri and Terry's ear off Saturday when they get to Deming.

Egads! I guess we better find ear muffs to protect them if you're going to be chewing them! Good deal on the saving money. Glad you got your compromised card. We can't send for ours for another week so we may be making a trip to the bank for a temporary too.

  7. Who's that bow legged guy wearing chaps with a patch on his eye. I'll bet he didn't do much sitting the next day. Sorry about the accident with the eye Jeff. Hope it heals well.

Does anyone have a buck to loan me for a cup of coffee. I still don't have that credit card that was compromized. I know it got to South Dakota and it was sent from there last Monday but I think the Indians got that pony Express rider. It still hasn't got here. I'll give it one more day and if it hasn't arrived I'll cancel it too and ask for another to be sent to the bank here in town for me to pick up. I can always get a temporary card from the bank here or just go draw out some more cash but it's getting me a little nervous. My cowgirls will be packing their bags If I don't take them to the Adobe Deli soon.

We also were notified last week that we have ANOTHER compromized credit card. We can continue using the one we have until the end of the month. Don't know if we'll be someplace long enough in the next couple of weeks to order our mail though. If not, send me your number and I'll use it instead of the one we have. Oh, I also have an amount that we're disputing. Don't know how that's going to end up yet. I'd lend you a dollar but we might need the one we have. :)

  8. Well we can not let Janice and Jeri go and have any margaritas. Every time they go to Mexico and have a Margarita they buy another purse!!!!!!!! Not sure what Jeri does with hers but Janice gives to our daughter after she sobers up.

What? You're telling our secrets? I have a stash of purses and I just bought another one when we were in Orlando. I think I found another brand I like! Thanks to both of you it's now time to start another diet. I hate this. It seems every spring I have to think about a diet. I lose weight in the summer and then I meet up with the RVing friends and they contribute to weight gains. It's a bad crowd. :)

  9. So the storms we get here just mess up you head and scramble your brains. But no wind, rain, lightning or thunder. Come on over and we'll go to the adobe Deli for lunch and make up some juicy stories about the rest of the classless members. That is if you still trust riding with me after last night's ordeal.

We had to find propane connections today. In a small town that's a little difficult but we managed. Once this nasty storm passes over we'll continue our trek west. It's a big one and we don't travel in high winds, hail or tornadoes. Eventually we'll arrive in Deming but it'll be a few weeks and much sooner than we originally thought. Travel does that to us.

  10. That's where I'm thinkin'...this gulf life is dangerous to one's well being! It's supposed to hit us about 2:00 a.m. Looks like I can expect a dog shivering on my head tonight.

    R

Oh no! You're going to get it too? I'm really tired of running from storms and worrying about damage. We'll have it in sections going through bits at a time possibly until Friday. No more gulf life for me. Next time I'll leave the driving to the pilots if I want to visit Florida or this area.

  11. Well, I love Adobe Deli and especially their Reubens. However, don't particularly like buckboards but we're due for another bumpy ride. I'm beginning to think storms are all we're going to get. Now we're expecting another nasty one. When will they stop? Arizona border?

  12. Ok, Lee it went away! Neat trick!

We took a pink jeep tour out of Sedona today and was it ever fun. Learned a lot about the area and the capabilities of a Jeep Rubicon. It lasted about 2 hours and had quite a few tight, sharp, steep, rocky turns in it. Such a beautiful place to visit, and getting out there in a Jeep with a knowledgeable guide was great. During one particularly steep climb I asked her how long she had been doing this. She replied "since about 8:00 this morning!"....................... I deserved it! The weather was perfect 75 with no wind, so we had a great time. Highly recommend Pink Jeep tours. Then we came back into Cottonwood and stopped at Wild Hog BBQ in the middle of town. Best ribs we've had in a long time, so all and all it was a fine full-timing day. :P Now for a little nip of cranberry juice before bedtime. Happy travels Steve

Sounds like a lot of fun. We had looked at those Pink Jeep tours but that's as far as we got.

  13. Jeri, It's the Metairie Elks, just West of downtown. They had 30A, water and a swimming pool that they opened every day at noon. Just a parking lot, but close enough to the French Quarter to be easy access. They had about 12 spaces, and were a really hospitable bunch. The address is 2215 Cleary Ave. Metairie, 70001. They charged $120 per week. They even set up a food court one weekend around our bus and we had fresh jambalaya and shrimp poor boys right outside our door. Nice!!

Thanks.. that might be where we'll head as we waste time before we head on to Texas.

  14. I think Steve and Carol stayed there last fall or summer. Think that's what we will stay when we go there.

    Jeff

In the old Elks book we have it doesn't show it but online it is listed with some RV sites. I also thought about the Slidell Elks but not sure what one is better. I'm sure we'll be there and gone before you get there .... is that right?
