    new headlights

We have owned our truck for 11 years and 60,000 miles and have gone to great links to avoid driving at night as we knew the VLN headlights sucked. On our last trip our luck ran out. I had to drive the last hour and half in a really dark November night. That was a real white knuckle pucker experience. As soon as we got home I naturally got a hold of David Dixon, Deep Space Lighting and ordered new headlights. They seemed expensive until about 30 minutes into my dark November night. I installed one today and what a difference. I only got one installed as for some reason I only used penetrating oil on one headlight and not the other and could not get the 3 screws cluster off on the other. All the parts look like quality and it was an easy instal even for my mechanically challenged self. Good job David. Travel safe JB

    Looking for David Dixon

Thank you very much. I emailed him. JB
  4. David, would you PM me please. Looking for new headlights. Thanks JB
  5. As far as I can tell only 1, but I only have one plug in. Thanks JB
  6. Thanks guys, I think I found it. My nose told me to pull a switch cover and when I did I saw a spark. We had the backsplash replaced a couple of years ago and the tile guy put the switch back in with the connections touching the foil insulation. I pushed the foil back pressed the little CS clip back into place and no more sparks and hopefully smell. As we all know smoke smell in an RV gets your attention in a hurry. Stay safe JB
  7. Thanks Randy. I appreciate your input. I am just wondering why I did not have a problem on shore power. As far as I know the inverter mimics shore power. I am still in a park with shore power and did not move the rig. I just put in new batteries and was testing out my boon docking abalities. I just unplugged and turned on the inverter. My xantrex says I am pulling between 10 to occasionally 25 amps. Am I wrong about the MSW inverter? I have no hot or warm spots. I have a real good nose and just catch riffs of smell. Smells more like wood than wire smell. Thanks JB
  8. Transfer switch looks good. Tightened all the lugs
  9. I know this is off topic but you guys are some of the smartest most broad experienced guys I know. I turned on my inverter today, just running off the batteries and solar left the house and when I came back in I could smell a faint smoke smell. The smell seems to be originating from the wall where my AC breaker box is, my battery monitoring and slide switches are located. Nothing is turned on except for the frig and various parasitic draws. Everything works. We have not used the rig or the inverter for a year. I am wondering if lint or mouse nest/dander is on some wires. I opened the wall and had less smell in there than outside of it. My inverter is located outside the rig in my generator compartment so it is well vented. We had been on shore power for 3 days with no issues. All help is appreciated. JB
  10. I sure would like a link to amazon. All the ones I found were 50 bucks or so. Thanks JB
  11. When we replaced carpet with laminate flooring we had an issue of the slide scraching the floor. Our slide just raises up and slides in with no rollers. We ordered (0.031" plastic sheet 48" x 24" GP) sheets of plastic fromhttps://www.onlinemetals.com. These sheets are used to move heavy equipment on. We have 3 sheets that we put under the problem places and pull the slide in and out. I hope this makes sense for you. Cheap fix $55.85 in 2015. They are kind of a pain as you have to put them down prior to bringing in the slide and then (we store ours under the bed) store them when the slides are out. You also have to watch to make sure they do not get sucked out with the slide. I they do just bring the slide in and re position. Stay safe. JB
  12. Thank you very much for you most timely review! Safe travels. JB
  13. I need a new rear camera and would like to add a hitch camera while I am at it. The system I am looking at is Haloview RD7 https://www.haloview.com/haloview-7-inch-wireless-range-dominator-system.html. I have shyed away from wireless before because of the dropped signal issue but it looks like they may have the problem solved by putting a repeater on the front end of the rv. This product has great reviews so I am looking at it. Does anyone have any experience with this system or another wireless system that work well? Thanks for al the input and stay safe. JB
  14. I have two questions. I have a 10 year old dish V cube that still works but I can't get more than 25% signal reception out of it. Do the new carry out sattalights provide any more reliable signal and if so which one is best. Thank you very much. JB

    Ipad Nav App?

We use the laptop version with a puck now and it works well except an occasional mountain sat block. They recently offered new software that cured a lot of problems. JB

    Ipad Nav App?

Do you just plug the puck into the charging port? What model # of puck do you use. We bought copilot for the iPad and have no luck getting it to work inside the truck. Woks fine with clear sat signal as in outside my truck. My iPad does have a GPS chip. Thanks JB
  18. Thanks for all the help. Heading to NAPA tomorrow. JB
  19. I should have been more specifc. For those of us who have air brakes on our trailers how often should you replace the glad hand hoses. JB
  20. Is there any recommended time interval for replacing glad hand hoses? Mine have no wear spots but a failure would be problematic to say the least. Thanks JB
