  1. Do you guys know about this site? http://hint.fm/wind/index.html Prettiest at its most hazardous. Linda Sand
  2. Minnesota is absolutely refusing to stop having winter this year. In all the years I lived there I've never seen it like this. At least, I'm looking at it from Livingston, TX; Dave is living in it. Poor guy. Good thing he can get groceries delivered. I sure would like to go home, though. LInda Sand
  3. ROFLOL! Spring is when the weather can't make up it's mind. At least that's the way it is supposed to be. Minnesota appears to have decided to just stay winter this year. So much so, that I'm almost afraid to hope for a warming trend for fear of what might come after it. Linda
  4. Still snowing in Minnesota. Glad I don't yet have to tell Rainbow's End when I'll be leaving here. Linda Sand
  5. The stay and play will still have metered electric you pay when you leave. When staying over month end you always paid at the end of the month so they could close that month's books. I suspect, but don't actually know, this will remain true. Linda
  6. They are using this park as their beta test site so parts of it are working now. I did not have to prepay for the site I moved to today, though, nor tell them how long I plan to be here. Good thing since it depends on the weather in Minnesota. The Stay and Play rate stays. With it you still get metered electric, too. That ought to make it much more popular. They would have done better to just included the electric in the regular site cost without making it a separate line item. I think $2-4 is too much for daily electric but I don't think $20 for FHU is too much so if it wasn't a line item I would not be fussing. Linda
  7. I'm at Rainbow's End learning about the new reservation system. Did you know Rainbow's End and Rainbow Oaks are two separate parks? I thought it was just the old section and the new section but they actually have different names and appear to have separate bookkeeping. I could be wrong about that but it appears that way. Linda Sand
  8. I'm craving ice cream but it looks like I'm not going to get to the casino for awhile. Minnesota is still having winter! The forecast only goes out to Tuesday but it's saying snow all the way through then. So I came to Rainbow's End thinking it would be a good place to wait. Now they are saying you pay in advance instead of when you leave. Anyone know when it is going to stop snowing in Minnesota? Apparently I need to tell the office here when that is going to be. Linda Sand
  9. We showed up for a sales talk one time in the rain. Was supposed to be a 45 minute presentation. We stayed for an hour before anyone showed up because they thought no one would come in the rain. We made them give us our free gifts and left because we'd already given them our time. It wasn't our fault they didn't come and we were on a road trip with a further destination so needed to move on. I still have some of the casserole dishes that were part of our gifts and we used the gas money they gave us to pay for the detour. Linda Sand
  10. How did all of you in the Midwest weather the storms? Here in Austin, Texas, we got some good rains and some cold temperatures but nothing dangerous. I hope you all can say the same. But they are predicting snow all week for Minnesota so I still can't go home. Looks like I'll probably go over to Rainbow's End and hang out until MN decides to stop having winter! Linda
  11. We expanded our class to take in newbies we met in Quartzsite which was good. Then we changed the name to make everyone we'd met feel included which intent was good. Then everyone we haven't met felt welcome to participate on-line, too, which MAY not be so good. I feel like we've lost our identity. We're no longer a group within Escapees since we've made all Escapees feel welcome whether we've met them or not. In the process, I feel like we're losing our cohesiveness as a group. Which may be good? Except now I feel like we're in competition with other Escapee groups including the official welcoming group who hosts the happy hours. That's probably not a good thing since we can't give the newbies the information they can get from the official group. Plus we may be robbing newer fulltimers of the chance to make their own connections. The original idea was that people who went fulltime the same year would all be facing similar situations so could support one another through those transitions. Some of our class has been out there five years now; do we remember what it was to be new? What say you all? Linda
  12. Yes. A couple days after this coming storm passes probably. May hang at the casino a bit depending on what Minnesota is doing then. I'm anxious to get home but I'm not crazy. Well, not crazy enough to go home with snow still on the ground. Linda
  13. I've been alternating driving and sitting as the winds alternate fairly calm and very strong. Should finally make it to Austin, Texas, tomorrow where I hope to get a few minor things taken care of at Sportsmobile. They don't know I'm coming since I didn't know I was either before they went home Friday night. So, I could be there a few days if they are too busy to work me in. Still too cold to go to Minnesota anyway. Linda
  14. I am wandering east since it is too soon for me to go all the way home to Minnesota. Currently in Van Horn, TX. Winds are supposed to be milder tomorrow so I'll do some more wandering. Linda
  15. I'm scheduled to leave Deming about the time IYQ comes back here. First day winds will let me travel. I'm thinking about going down to Austin to get Sportsmobile to put one more snap on my shower curtain. I didn't intend to wash the floor next to the shower last time I took one--now I have one clean spot! Linda Sand
  16. Glad you made it home on time. Sorry you had to do it while Doug was in pain. Linda
  17. My memory of that park is being locked out when we went into town to see a Cinerama movie. Would have been a long walk from the gate to the campground but people from another vehicle called someone to come unlock the gate. I must have been 11 or 12 or so. Linda Sand
  18. Get one of those National Parks passport books and start collecting stamps. You'll never need another idea of where to go next. The join geocaching.com and you'll never run out of things to do wherever you are. Linda Sand
  19. But morning comes way too early in those campsites! Linda
  20. Wow, Lee! I'm glad you had already left Walmart! Heat might be good for loosening up congestion but not that kind of heat. Linda Sand
  21. Glyn, It's easy to see you are new to our group. Steve and Carol lived for about a year at the Fire Lake Grand Casino, in Shawnee, OK, while waiting for their house to sell. Free water/electric on a creek with a picnic table. Several of us visited them there and many of us stop there whenever taking route I-40. Check it out. Linda Sand
  22. A few Cracker Barrels have the RV parking along one side. The one in Yuma has NO RV parking. We get so spoiled we forget they are not all alike. The one closest to my brother's house has RV parking but I wouldn't want to stay overnight at that one.
  23. MIke & Deb, We'll all be traveling with you in our hearts. Take care. Linda Sand
  24. You seem to have a talent for finding really good places. Or a talent for enjoying the places you find. Linda
