Anyone using the phrase "There will never be ......." broadcasts their inability to imagine.   Most kids today do not understand the reference to "Dick Tracy Watch", but they are wearing them!

I feel sorry for those who have lost the ability to imagine, to wonder at what is on the horizon and hope that the problems of tomorrow are conquered because people continue to dream and ask "Why Not?

  2. Very good story of truth. When I hooked on to something my F350 shouldn't be pulling, I started looking with my wife. When my wife couldn't easily get climb in, we marked it off the list. We found the real MDT's where easier to climb into and still achievable after 5 years (the past 18 months don't count).

  3. I was in your shoes several years ago. I visited or called a couple RV dealer asking for names of haulers. I found two very able individuals in the Austin area. Commercial haulers should have all the insurance needs to cover your longer haul

I luckily didn't have use them as my trucks repair parts arrived a week early.

There is a lady on another forum that owns a RV but doesn't own a TV but all ways can find some one to move her.

  4. Thinking back to when my Dad was in his 70's, He said he didn't need anything. Well we all like to eat but avoid some meats because of cost. My sister and I decided to buy expensive cuts of beef and I brought meat but not locally available, Dads choice was Buffalo and Elk. Mom always liked something for the kitchen. Surprisingly, my wife and I, now follow the same pattern.

For credit cards, we got burnt a couple years on a couple years ago when a business and restaurant closed before the cards were used. Restaurants, have me a uneasy at this time.

  5. I do one of three things with checks pending size.

Deposit the check by mail. ( always sign the check payable to your bank name and acct XXXXXXXX followed by your name)

Cash the check at Walmart for a small fee. (Limited to certain types).

Let my wife's bank handle the exchange for a fee.

If I want cash, I'm never to far from a relative, my banks or my wifes banks. Or cask back with your Credit card.

  6. My Concern. Going all Electric is putting all your eggs in one basket. Hybrid vehicles make more sense, especially short haul vehicles.

My concern that the Green people haven't addressed is the flipping of the magnetic poles. You can search and read stories of it happening but how does effect your daily lives. Was it my grade school  earth classes that taught about the True North and Magnetic North were separating.

What kind of issues are you having? Have you had your provider send in new orders at least annualy?

    Rob

Oct 2011 I received my first CPAP machine and had all my supplies ordered and delivered USPS, FedEx or UPS, what ever LinCare used. No problem and they may have delivered to numerous difference places in three states during that time. Then I had a GPAP air seal leak between the water reservoir and the guts just as the machine turned 7 years old. I fixed it and I informed Lincare I would needing a new unit in the next month. But a little talking it was decided to wait 30 days (until settled after Christmas).

Maybe the first week after arriving at Kerrville I called Lincare to get my 5 year replacement. I was told to have my Sleep DR authorized a new unit, which I did. With in a week the unit failed again and out of my control. I called Lincare and it was down hill from there. Have your doctor send this and a day later send this and we need this. I found a local supplier and worked with them. Hard was part getting my Original 2011 Sleep study but in 72 hours I had a new Machine. The only bad part that deal is the unit runs on 20 volts so no sleeping in the car.

So in the nearly three years I used Kerrville-Fredericksberg Medical Equipment, I got fed up with not getting my location address correct and then finding the package pay $15-20 to get supplies. I dumped them wanting to return to Lincare. Today I talked to Medicare, and Medicare wanted to find out what the delay was like I did. Finally we got a person that was hard to understand. we about 15 minutes and finally ask for his name. He even spelled his name but we couldn't.understand. Later I did talk to one of the two names I knew was getting thing out the door. I should be Monday or Tuesday everything approved get my shipping address,

I am still looking for alternates.

  8. I looking for a company which works well supplying multiple locations as many of you also require. Also I like a company that has a store in some states particularly west of the Mississippi River. Presently I trying to get back to Lincare as a supplier since Oct 18. I don't know if I burn some bridges or Medicare is holding things up. I have a great Medicare supplement so I hate to go to the Black Market. Today I'm calling Medicare to try and get some straight talk as it is only CPAP supplies and equipment that requires the extra 40 questions.

When I started using a CPAP Machine I selected Lincare because they operated most of the areas I spent time. After 7 years my CPAP machine started to give some problems so I needed a new machine. Lincare in Livingston handed me off to San Antonio because I was staying Kerrville TX. Lincare was practically none responsive and when the CPAP failed, they still sat on there hands so I found a local supplier which was great, BUTTT for supplies. Bad News as they can't seem to be able handle multiple addresses. Sometime I had to spend $20 to get the supply package sent to me from tim-buck-too or Livingston ( and those Escapee people are super).

  9. My continuing leaks have been more Seat related. Driver seat had length hose that to short. Looking at it wasn't suspected to be a problem but connector was a repeating occurrence. The Passenger seat has a minor leak that I haven't solved. Turning the air at that seat solves the problem. My cab air bags were replaced when leaking about 70 lbs a hour ( a respected couldn't find the problem), 4 years ago a 25,000 miles. I drove up to Clinton OK and boys replaced the air bags and did a once over on the truck.

Do they make automatic steps for tow RVs that automatically retract and protrude out for use at the touch of a button or remote ?

Yes they did but I understand they were troublesome. I had a incident where my wife slipped when there was ice on the top step. I have one of fold-up steps but the remote switches are in the basement and at the leveling panel. I was always going to put a third switch in the control cabinet. If the I want to put the steps in at night I use a small Step ladder to return to the RV and reach to pickup the step ladder.

The trouble I have experienced with the step operation was caused by dirt & grime. I keep a can of dry lubricant to occasionally spray the open worm screw jack mechanism.

Would I get the inside the door steps. Yes

    1) A 50 Amp RV has two UnGrounded legs L1 & L2 each of which is 120 VAC with respect to the Grounded Common Conductor Neutral.........

    2) Such an RV Park electrical service if wired as most (but not all) are is referred to in the trade as 120/240 Single Phase Three Wire.

    3) If such is indeed the case and is typically how most homes are served, L1 & L2 are 180 out of phase with each other (when one is 120+ other is 120-) THEREFORE its 240 VAC L1 to L2.

    4) Soooooo you see there is 240 VAC in that 50 Amp RV electrical panel if you measure across L1 to L2 BUT ONLY 120 (1/2 that) from EITHER L1 orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr L2 to the Common Neutral

    oldjohn does a good job. For your 50 Amp service, my quick to verify my service is;

L1 to Neutral 120 V.  L2 to Neutral 120V. L1 to L2 240 V. IF L1 to L2 IS ZERO you have a problem, your neutral wire will be undersized. Under the L1 to L2 240 condition you could have to to 50 amps in Neutral wire but with L1 to L2 measuring Zero you could up 100 amps in the Neutral.

  12. I also was not fully aware of the Ballot issues. I wasn't aware of the state wide Propositions, I was aware of judicial candidates (and no races for Polk county) but after my daughter voted I became of the state wide Proposition. To late to request my ballot. In the future it will be a priority to be aware of those issues.

Ballotpedia is a good tool. Prepare for the March 1 Texas election.

  13. My wife's husband went to the nursing home and became a ward of the State of Illinois after they spend her down. This was 17 years ago and he was 66. She was left with a portion of their saving and their Mobile Home plus a small pension from her husband.

Five years later I found out these happening that can occur. I feel, my planning had error-ed. Rather than me taking a pension, I took a lump sum. Had her husband took a lump sum when he retired my wife would not have the small pension today.

I don't how the ruling presently in place but when a retirement does occur, the pro & con's of LUMP SUM cash out needs to considered. As far as long term care insurance, what is your illnesses and what state are you be spend your last days.

A good topic and the article tends to indicate big differences between states.
