  1. I'm not into Travel Trailer, started with a small 50 years ago. I did a quick comparison of the three you listed. All would great and all have difference limitations which I'm sure have considered.

Most importantly you are considering the TT before you decide how your going pull it. The Black series in my estimation mayrequire a heavier vehicle to pull and STOP than the Oliver.

The only problem I've heard about is the crack in the I-40 bridge over the Mississippi.

When forum post appeared I wandered what was happening. Thanks for your input. I remember the construction delays a number of years ago when widening the roadway.

So with that memory and since I'm coming from the north I will taking route 19 south from Dyersburg TN.

Hi all, I just purchased my first RV.   All I have is a display that shows the voltage - which started out at a little above 12v and slowly climbed down into the 11's.  Is that the number I am supposed to be using to guage

John your statement you just purchased your first RV and all you have to monitor is voltage leaves a lot of questions going forward. You stated you have a generator and a method to charge your batteries.  Is the generator built into the RV or a separate unit. Like wise is the battery charger a separate unit or built in.

Most individual battery chargers have a amp meter indicating the amount of charge going into the batteries and it tapers down as the batteries charge. If you have a built-in invertor/convertor it may have available a remote that could be used to provide more battery condition.

We are a definite vote for Lambright.  They are pricey but the workmanship is spectacular.

    X2

We bought Lambright through "RV's for Less". I ordered our 2016 MS from "RV's for Less" withoiut a couch or recliners. The empty RV was taken by Lambright and the furniture was installed before continuing to TN. All the pieces went through the front door.

The furniture is still as comfortable as it was in Nov 2015 and I sat in it today. Of course we are not full timers but until 11 months ago we did spend 8 of every 12 month on the Lambright product.

  5. Blowing fuses means it is a DC circuit where the AC circuits would be tripping Breakers.

I do not not how that chassis is wired but I have experienced to Dodge wiring problem. The first was mid 70's van and the second was 1995 Caravan. Both problems was wired passing through a grommet.

Is it always the same fuse blowing? Do you when it is blowing? What size fuse is blowing?

  6. It makes the big news when 8 weeks ago was the big one.

Green energy is only good for what is happening. The success of any generation is the stored fuel on site, Nuclear Energy is fuel rods, Coal is the coal Pipe, Oil stores in large tanks, Gas in the pipe line or caverns, water behind the dam. Batteries charged & etc Sun and wind are predicable in that will happen sometime.

  7. Durango - Delores- Ouray is easier in many ways. The worse of road has a little shoulder and a white line marking the edge of the road, Also being north bound, your are next to the cliff not the canyon below.  I think it is a prettier route also. While your in the area Mesa Verde is a great place spend a day and you will find camping in the park, and several near Cortez.

See your from Asheville, My experience the Colorado Roads have better sight lines and wider corners. watch your speed as some times you may think driving the flat land but can be going down hill.

IMO, that is not enough truck for that trailer.  However, I see lot's of similarly loaded rigs going down the highway at 75 mph with no consequences.

Good luck with your new rig.

I agree not enough truck especially if your carrying a full tank of water or waste. And then a half tank of water is bad in sloshing back and forth.

Go to the scales to verify. Actual weight when you parked with the jacks down is not a concern

Regarding durangodon statement. If you follow the 75 mph person long enough you will find a RV at the side of the road as the 65 MPH rated tires give up with consequences.

I'm not real clear on the difference between the $35 program for my PC and the $9.99 Camp & RV cellphone app.

    Can anyone shed some light?

    Brooks

I use the paid program but not familiar with the cell phone app. I only use my computer which allows to many searches by filters. It really helps when you have a big unit or looking for site after many campgrounds close for the winter. Allstays is not a rating system so read the campground reviews.

Only problem with nuclear is that we don't have a repository for spent fuel.  And it is a political problem not a scientific problem.

I agree and the serious accidents can be put to human error

3-Mile Island I don't recall the problem to well but the plant was built too many eggs in one basket. That is the main control cables and the back-up control cables were in the same raceway. It was all about money but MANY Nuke plants were shut-down until they could show they didn't have a problem or problem correct

Chernobyl was a cookie cutter design of obsolete technology. Then the plant was told to do something it wasn't designed to do but the Engineers say disable the alarm and continue dropping load, this happened repeatably until and you know the rest of the story.

Fukishima build on a earth quake zone.

Man designed and build the plants

Man run the plants and man did what they were instructed to do

Man ok'ed the siting and plans.

We need small Nukes and fossil fuels to control the critical loads. And then we need some Buck Rogers age of Technology. The electric utilities have always had method to save the plant (that is matching system load to generation(s) as to maintain frequency at 60 hertz and if frequency drops, action starts dropping breakers should open and cut load). Early days the substation and the plant control room were all the together. the operator knew what substation breakers to open. As technology advanced allowing protective devices remote from the plant monitor to open breakers as needed in the advent a serious drop in frequency.

Technology advances more where utilities would control some load remotely before the frequency dropped and would return to normal automatically. This was worked out with the consumer and a special rate applied. Some large customers preferred to volunteer removing their load.

Then came the subsidized renewables. 36 years ago I heated my hot water with solar technology. For every effect there a result. If you didn't have storage you had to use electric to heat the water, so you wanted a proper amount of storage. The disadvantage turned out to be my teen-age daughters liked long hot showers thus larger water bills.

Now we have the renewable solar, wind, water & such (many mandated) putting electric on the grid. Because you can't predict what the bulk of the renewable generation will provide for output, those electric sources is not called firm generation. Here is where Buck Rogers is needed. Non critical loads like Dish washers, Laundry facilities, battery chargers, pool heaters, freezers,  refrigerators and  I'm sure the list goes could on.  Homes or equipment/appliances are not build out to for that advancement yet.

Just like when cars started populating the country the roads weren't build so the the horses couldn't be retired as long as cars got stuck. There was a rather smooth transition in recent years from the Analog TV to Digital TV. We transitioned from trains to planes. Over the years we have gone from TV commercial breaks of one minute to five minutes over 60 years. I guess not all is bad as I don't move as fast now but I can still complain that I seem the same commercial too many times.

So keep my power on 24/7 at a reasonable rate.

  12. Since you are in the HDT section I would recommend using the 3/4 drive. I use the Tee or Power bar with a 5 foot pipe. I have used the same pipe over 20 years breaking nuts and bolts loose. Going back I'm using 1/2 inch drive torque wrench at 150 pounds.

  13. For the Full-timer, my observation, either a Fifth wheel or Class A will work best. My wife observation is the Class A has the smaller Kitchens plus the actual storage is less in the upper area. As mentioned in an earlier post the Class A has lots of basement space but some under low extended slides.  Go for ever works, Test what feels comfort by spending an hour walking through your daily chores.

  14. I got mine nearly 6 years ago after selling all my fixed assets. I was full time but had a daughter in Texas so with reality my Domicile would be Texas.

Since that day I have remarried to a lady with fixed assets in the land of taxes so I Trust I'm prepared just in case.

  15. Twotoes. That is some what similar to what I have in coverage except I don't have a Umbrella anymore. I have sent an Email to Miller's in OR but no response yet. Originally they put vehicles in one policy payable as a lump sum not individual cost but they did list liabilities separate.  I'm domicled in Texas so it this time I don't know whether is Texas or???. My trouble is the Class 5 Tow vehicle. I will give Geico a call tomorrow.

    Thanks

  16. I have received a non-renewal notice for National General basically on the fact I have to much coverage on my Truck & RV. My question is what is considered is adequate Full timer coverage and if you have umbrella policy do you have that with a separate company (Actually we are not 365 day full timers but maybe 240 days in Texas, IL, MN & WI  plus other 1-2 week trips). The RV is considered as my home with liability.

National General told me in 2019 they would cut my coverage to 100/300/50 if I wanted to change anything in the coverage. Previously I had a lower coverage with an umbrella but that changed when I purchased the 2014 Freightliner M2-106. My RV is a 2016 DRV 38PS3. I also have a car on the policy
