  1. pplmotorhomes.com. great place to find affordable rv parts and accessories and there free shipping is the day you order it not a week later li,e Amazon. Denny
  2. You can get a X2 with a Wally from PPL for $478 with free frieght, thats where I got my X2 only from. Yes it's plug and play and because of the large dish it brings in a strong signal compared to the other automatics out there. Plus you can get both east and west coast feeds. Denny
  3. We spend 7 months + on the road and we are tv junkies and we haven't used our batwing antenna in years. We have a Pathway X2 automatic dish with dish network, we get our HD locals off it that my wife likes and I get my sports and Nascar with the other channels thst I want. We also have a Roku streaming device that we get other free streaming moves and other programing when the cell data signal are strong enough. We have a pay as you go outdoor account so it can be shut off when not in use but that hasn't happened since we started using it because we use the same reciever at our home base. No matter where we are at we have tv and because the dish is portable it can be moved to get around obstructions, there's a lot of places out west that don't have free over the air chanels and cell service can be problematic. Denny
  4. I've never seen or talked to anyone that has been pulled over for overweight but I will have to admit that there's been a few times that I wished some were just to make it safer for everyone else. The only time I thought maybe I was going to get pulled over for over length not over weight because I was double hitching my boat on the interstate and a HP car pulled up along side of the boat and I could see one of the officers taking a close look at my setup, after looking at it he keep on going around me and gave me the now not politically correct OK sign. So if your going down the road and things like your cord is not connected and your tow vehicle is squatting more than normal you deseved to get pulled over and be checked for everything, the old saying You Can't Fix Stupid applies here. Denny
  5. I've changed my locals 4 times in the last 6 days and because like I said the chat was to busy I had to call in and I've been surprised that it worked reallly good for once except for one guy who said I could use the app because I have a outdoor account and after telling him that I can't because of the way my account was setup years ago and of coarse he wanted to fix it and I had to tell him it's not fixable and leave it alone. In the past I was able to use the Satellite Guys site to view spot beam's and adjust were I got my locals from by using a address further down the road if they overlapped so I didn't have to change as often but that's not available anymore so is there anything else out there that will work. Denny
  6. Every time this week when I tried the chat I was anywhere from 179 to 99 on the waiting list to chat so I had to call in. Anyone else having a problem. Denny
  7. Maybe they will start making 5th wheels agian. Denny
  8. We've never been asked for the papers on our dogs with all the US, Canada and Mexico crossings we have made but we did have them with us. Denny
  9. Been searched once coming back into the US from Canada only because we set off the radiation detectors, we had to go inside of a building but the trailer was to big so it stayed outside blocking their driveway it took about 45 minutes. The only thing they took were two plants that had been across the border numerous times. We set off the detectors because we were in Peggy's Cove Nova Scotia and the granite there is radioactive and so is the water, it was trapped in our RO system. Denny
  10. People are just getting turned off because of all the junk. Denny
  11. I will disgree with you because I believe the production of poor quality high priced units is catching up with them. Denny
  12. Eventually the market had to get saturated with units, I've looked at some of the new stuff out there and I will stay with my 16 year old HitchHicker. Denny
  13. Im talking about the plate with the male coax fitting that goes into the trailer, if the coax goes straight to the entertainment center with no stops you have a fitting chance that it will work. Denny
  14. I 2nd the Pathway X2 over the Tailgater, as far as the coax in the trailer it depends on the trailer manufacture and the way it was installed. I would have the dealer prove that it works before taking delivery, I have helped people in the past and found a lot of strange configurations and a lot of loose conections and a few that I never got to work. I've been using the satellite pass through connection on my trailer for 16 years without any problems on both a stationary dish and automatic. Denny
  15. If your burner stays on then the problem isn't in the controls but the cooling unit itself. One easy way to check it is to wire the electric element directly to 120V and see of the unit works properly, if it doesn't and it had good air flow in the back the cooling unit had failed. Denny
  16. We did that one time and one time only and it wasn't a good outcome. It was a new rig and we thought the floor plan was workable but as it turned out it wasn't for us so we ended up ordering a new trailer after 11 momths, that was a very very expensive mistake. There is nothing like bring in a unit to get the feel of it, before we ordered we found a unit that we wanted but the dealer didn't want to deal and we wanted some added options, 16 years latter we still have the rig we ordered šŸ˜ Denny
  17. Have them check your fuel filter and pump presure under load. Denny
  18. Get there early before check in but I would call back and you may get someone else that knows more than the first person. A few years ago all government camping sites even the ones that are on government leased land have to leave 20 to 25% of there sites to first come, we used first come a couple of times last fall and we always got in going east. Denny
  19. I checked and Mazama Village CG takes reservations in July, August and September for 75% of the sites the other 25% are first come just like all gov sites in the US. Call 866 292-6720 to check availability but for that time of year the reservable sites may already reserved. Denny
  20. If you have questionable drainage use a concrete pad because any gravel will lose its compaction over the winter or heavy rains. I would use a 6" pad with rebar so the weight of the trailer won't crack it, I would also dig a swallow footing only a couple of inches down to stop any running water from getting under it. And while you are at it make yourself a nice patio area. Denny
  21. I finally got around to installing a choke monetary switch at the remote start switch and it works like a champ. I pulled power off the starting solinoid coil (left terminal) so it will only work when cranking and cut the choke wire (number 90) and spliced in wire from the new switch eliminating the auto wire. Denny
  22. I down loaded Brave from the Play store a few months ago on my phone, tablet and Chromebook and it block all adds and trackers. Denny
  23. The absorption refrigerators only have one coil, the freezer section cold plate is attached to most of the coil and the lower part uses only the last section and the control to shut down the coiling is on the end of the lower section cold plate. If the unit is cooling at all the controls are working whether it's on electric or gas. After the unit is started and left overnight and it's not cooling properly and everything is clean the unit either has a leak that can be confirmed by the smell of ammonia or the yellow death powder or the heat exchanger has failed both are fatal when it comes to the cooling unit and not repairable in the field. If your cooling unit has failed you have 3 choices the first is a new refrigerator, second is having a rebuilt cooling unit installed or the way I went is a Amish new cooling unit. Remeber if you have a flame or electric heater running the cooling unit either works or it doesn't , its off or on and nothing in between. Don't try and access the system because it's under about 300 psi of pressure. I replaced my own cooling unit but I'm a retired refrigeration guy. Denny
