  1. I don't trade for retirement security as my retirement pay and SS, with my medical and drugs covered by TFL, makes my stock plays rare. My first was Tesla, but I knew everything about them from 2003 on and Musk from a year or two earlier. I did and do USAA funds that are like watching paint dry. My opinion of day trading and cost averaging is that my funds and real property investments do that quite well. My Teslavwas $25k, then taken off the table keeping most of my then 800 shares that I built back to 1000 shares with an inheritance of 200 shares. So my initial investment of $25k there turned into $348k. My MJ market plays are only my second and third individual stock buys. I remain in funds and doubling up on real property once we find our Colorado perfect final home, and cash out of this five acre and three year old home. By then I'll have lost my money, or made quite a bit with my little $37K play between Aurora 5000 shares and the 1000 shares of NBEV. If I lose it I am not in debt or injured in any way except for pride. We both know the most likely bad scenario, despite already tripling the NBEV money, would be to break even. Aurora will be listed on the NYSE next Tuesday, 23 October, 2018. Then we'll see what happens in the next couple of quarters.
  2. Latest Tesla news: Tesla Model 3 Motor & Gearbox Survive 1 Million Miles Of Testing On October 15, Tesla tweeted the results of using the motor and gearbox of the Model 3 for over 1 million miles. From the photograph, it’s hard to tell them from new. Notice the beefy ball bearings used to support both components. After the company tweet, Elon Musk added his own thoughts on Twitter. “Model 3 motor & gearbox still in good condition after driving 1M miles. Designed for ultra high endurance.” Keep in mind that the Model 3 components are expected to power the upcoming Tesla Semi, which means moving up to 80,000 lb on a consistent basis. It’s fair to say these pieces may be over-engineered a bit for the Model 3. Calling them “robust” would be an understatement. Naturally, nothing Elon and Tesla do ever goes unchallenged. Twitter user Mark B. Spiegel, who styles himself as both an investor and a wise guy, offered this bit of whimsy on Twitter. “The whole thing is ABSURD. Bench-testing a motor & gearbox has NOTHING to do with running it pulling a 3600-pound load of car and batteries against friction and wind-resistance. It’s just more bullshit spewing from the lying mouth of Scmucksidy Fraud-Boy.”‏ Well, it’s hard to find more cogent argumentation that that! Another Twitter user, Mark Langridge attempted to straighten the learned Mr. Spiegel out but it’s unlikely his words had any effect. “That’s not how automotive testing works. You always have prototype drivetrains long before you have a car to put them in. They mount the drivetrain to a test bench, plug it in, and run it via software.” Suffice to say, Model 3 drivers won’t need to be concerned about reliability and longevity with their cars. Can drivers of other brands make the same claim?" Source: Tesla facts
  3. My portfolio just lost $75,000 in 12 days — here's why I'm not worried at all Excerpt: "A stock market crash, or a dip, can cause even smart investors to panic. Ramit Sethi is the author of a best-selling book on personal finance, and when the stock market dipped, he lost $75,000. He isn't worried, because he knows successful investors play the long game, and that opting out of the stock market is far riskier than opting in. Last week the stock market took the world on a wild ride, and in response, the media went crazy with scary headlines like … Blip or downturn? What the market meltdown means for your money Is it time to sell before we hit bottom? Stock market meltdowns have become frighteningly common The goal of these headlines is to get people to click, and people will, but the average investor is left only with doubt and scary-looking losses. As an author of a New York Times best-selling book on personal finance and someone with a portfolio of investments, I'd like to share this piece of counterintuitive advice: Keep calm and carry on. In other words, don't change a thing! Don't get me wrong. I was greatly affected by the decline. You can see that my portfolio dropped by over $75,000 in just 12 days of this month: Most people who lose $75,000, $2,000, or $500 would freak out, sell their stocks, and say things like "I would just hold cash to be safe" or "See, this is why I don't invest in stocks!" But here are three reasons why I kept my investment portfolio untouched — and why you should stay disciplined, whether your portfolio is worth $500, $50,000, or $500,000." he goes on to cover 1. Keep investing and you'll get investment returns no matter what 2. It's not 'timing' the market, it's time IN the market 3. It's pointless to look at daily trends Lower prices are good as long as you have a long-term goal. If you're young, that means you can pick up more shares of the stocks at a lower price. For people who are older, they would benefit from adjusting their asset allocation to be more conservative so that declines affect them less dramatically. I'd like to encourage you to go from "hot" to "cool" around your money. Instead of feeling "hot" emotions like anxiety or fear, get educated enough to feel "calm" and "confident." I feel calm because I know my money is automatically being invested every month, that staying in the market gives me much better returns than panicking and selling, and I can focus on other parts of my life. Long term investments shouldn't affect your day to day. Whether you lose $500 or $5,000 — or gain $50,000 or $2 million over time — the important thing is to nail down good personal finance habits so that when your portfolio grows in the future you'd exactly know how to react and can stay strong with your investments for years to come." The above are small excerpts from an in-depth and insightful article I completely agree with in Business Insider. You can read it in full by clicking here: Good advice If you followed the other thread, "Are You Still In?" you saw me do just that. I bought low several times on IPO. and in the six months after on dips to $22.5. I sold near the year's high because I am using that money to buy a new house cash. Then I can take my time selling this 5 acres with new house, workshop, 12X20 finished out plumbed, wired, paneled, insulated and air conditioned portable building. Then I can reinvest the whole amount and next time, take out only enough I have deductions to cover. Oh well, taxes only come with gains.
  4. The above post edited because I forgot to insert the last link of the list of Cannabis info.
  5. RJXJ, here's a very good article today with hot links to follow in the article. Also don't miss the link at the bottom for an entire collection of articles and analysis from many sources, both pro and con investments in the MJ market. Marijuana is now legal across Canada! Marijuana stocks to watch: Aurora Cannabis investments may be more valuable than its pot Excerpt: "Aurora Cannabis Inc. is a major pot producer, but if its bets on other cannabis companies continue to pay off, it may be able to stop actually growing weed on its own. Aurora ACBFF, -1.57% ACB, -1.22% said recently its investments were worth more than C$700 million ($540 million) as of Sept. 21, bolstered in part by demand for pot stocks ahead of full legalization of marijuana in Canada on Wednesday. As the entire sector has benefited, so has Aurora’s portfolio, boosting the company’s fiscal fourth-quarter profit to C$79.9 million, after a loss of $20.8 million the year earlier. One of the company’s biggest and most profitable bets is a stake in the Green Organic Dutchman Holdings Ltd. TGODF, -4.19% TGOD, -4.55% a C$55 million investment in the company at C$1.65 a share in January, that is worth C$5.53 a share as of Tuesday. That would value its stake at roughly C$184 million, which is equal to about 13% of the company. It has an option to increase that stake to more than 50%. Aurora also disclosed investments in Hempco Food and Fiber Inc. HEMP, -4.46% CTT Pharmaceuticals Inc. CTTH, +1.11% Choom Holdings Inc. CHOOF, +0.70% and a 20% stake in privately held Capcium Inc., which provides equipment to Aurora for making medicinal marijuana softgel pills. The company spun out Australis Capital Inc. in September, as an investment company focused on the U.S. cannabis market. Aurora’s U.S.-listed shares have gained 50.4% in 2018, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.18% has gained 3% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.08% has added 2.4%. 6. Oops! I just edited the 100 shares NBEV should have read 1000. Ryno, These will be volatile I expect. We'll see in two more days.
  7. I bought my NBEV @$2.99, and my Aurora 2000 shares @ $7.71, then 3000 more @ $ @ $7.99 for a total of 5000 shares Aurora and 1000 shares of NBEV. Looks today like that should have been 5000 of each. We will see soon. I expect a pop then a drop then a rise back to whatever its first limit will be. Wednesday Marijuana for medical and recreational use becomes legal all across Canada. Then, let the games begin!
  8. These just in in the last few days: Tesla Model 3 = #1 Best Selling Car In The US (In Revenue) https://cleantechnica.com/2018/09/09/tesla-model-3-becomes-1-best-selling-car-in-the-us/ Tesla Crushes Porsche & Jaguar Worldwide https://cleantechnica.com/2018/10/12/tesla-crushes-porsche-jaguar-worldwide/ I would have stayed long with Tesla as it will soon be shooting up. But I needed to buy a house, and be able to sit on this property for the right buyer after buying the new one. Then I'll either get back into Tesla with all, or evenly divided between Tesla and my then favorite MJ stocks to grow again. I have to keep my large capital gains tax untouched from this year. I hate taxes!
  9. I'm an amateur and have found the investment analysts scoffed at my decision to invest in Tesla and now my choices in MJ stocks. But these investments in brand new product types don't come around often that excite me. But next investments will be fire fighting innovations and water pumps as the ice caps melt. Irony. I'm moving to colder and higher altitude climes now, for ten years from now if we're still around. And plenty of wilderness to retreat to. Ya never know. I keep only two weeks of the top brand of freeze dried survival full meals for the two of us. If we need more, odds are we won't for long. So my outlook is to make the best of the various scenarios I see as possible. Without becoming a fanatic. If the proverbial excrement hits the rotating surfaces Colorado has legal marijuana and assisted suicide. I guess that covers my realistic preparations. I hope we make the changes needed to press on. I'm not encouraged by the willful ignorance I see. So I don't join things and am not a survivalist. Though a weapon expert I'm not buying lots of ammo or more guns. Just my normal 500rds or so of .40 cal pistol, 300 shot-shells for hunting and defense. 300 rounds .308, several thousand rds of .22 lr, and 300rds .22 Win Magnum. I'm still optimistic, just cautiously so.
  10. Ryno, My last big buy was Tesla, with high risk in 2010 before they had the Model S out and in between having cars to sell after they stopped production on the Roadster. It has proven volatile all through my ownership until I followed my gut and sold all 1000 shares August 14 to have our new house money liquid and waiting. I know Tesla will come back up but it tends to trade sideways for months with the shorts muddying the waters. They are fooling only noobs to BEVs. There is an investor segment that tries to drag good companies down and harass great companies, to try and profit from their short plays. Tesla is very fast growth and that takes a lot of cash to build out. The cash burn will be over once the Model 3 catches up with reservations, and they can begin focusing on the economies of scale. I just needed liquid at this point. I changed my approach 180 degrees for the Cannabis sector and picked the one with the best fundamentals and diversification to handle anything that comes along. Tilray has nothing on Aurora save being listed first. Excerpt: " Although a majority of my articles don't have a formal conclusion, I believe Aurora deserves one. I say this because Aurora stock, like all other cannabis stocks, has skyrocketed in the recent years all because of legalization news. Of course, the market has been driven by news of the Farm Bill and full legalization around Canada, yet, unlike many other cannabis companies, Aurora has created a system allowing them to thrive for years. With extreme profits off of investments, Aurora proves not only to be a cannabis manufacturer but also can be seen as a marijuana hedge fund. As markets for marijuana grows, Aurora grows even if it is their competitors selling the most. This being said, the amount of acquisitions they have made recently to improve their company is truly magnificent. With a surplus of cash, they are able to improve their product through these acquisitions with little concern. On another note, their product has been awarded numerous medals and patients clearly love it. So, in conclusion, Aurora is the best cannabis stock to buy in today's day and age." Source: Seeking Alpha: Aurora From Motley Fool: "Better Marijuana Stock: Aurora Cannabis vs. Tilray Which Canadian marijuana grower is in the best position to succeed over the long run? Better marijuana stock One way to determine which marijuana stock is a better buy is to look at their valuations in relation to their annual production capacity. In other words, see how much bang for the buck you would get by buying Aurora Cannabis or Tilray. Aurora Cannabis' market cap currently is close to $2.9 billion. Factoring in the company's projected annual production capacity, the cost of the stock is around $5,087 per kilogram of annual capacity. By comparison, Tilray's market cap is a little under $2.2 billion. A rough estimate of the company's projected annual capacity translates to well over $15,000 per kilogram. Based on these admittedly ballpark calculations, I think Aurora Cannabis is the better pick." The link for this article contains several articles both pro Aurora, and lukewarm Aurora. scroll down to each headline I quote below too: Motley Fool Aurora Articles 10 Things You Need to Know About Aurora Cannabis' Fourth-Quarter Report There's much more to Aurora's operating results than just 223% sales growth and a surprise quarterly profit. Excerpt: "The countdown creeps ever closer. In only 15 days, on Oct. 17, recreational marijuana will be completely legal for adults to purchase throughout Canada. This makes Canada the first industrialized country in the world to have legalized adult-use weed, and puts the industry on track to generate billions of dollars annually, once it's fully up to speed. Though there are dozens of marijuana stocks for investors to choose from to potentially take advantage of this growth, none has been more popular (or polarizing) than Aurora Cannabis (NASDAQOTH: ACBFF). That's because Aurora is expected to lead all growers in aggregate annual production, yet it's not the largest marijuana stock by market cap (it currently sits at No. 3, behind Tilray and Canopy Growth Corp.). It also just so happens that marijuana darling Aurora Cannabis reported its fourth-quarter and full-year 2018 operating results last week. And while Wall Street and investors are probably focused on the company's 223% year-over-year Q4 sales growth, its plans to uplist to a major U.S. exchange, or its surprise profit of over 79 million Canadian dollars, there are 10 other things listed throughout its report that bear even more significance. If you've been monitoring Aurora Cannabis, or you own shares in the company, here's what you really need to know." The ten things in this report are exceptionally compelling and more in depth with the kind of vision we need in this new market. A must read before anyone invests in the pot trade. It is in the link above just scroll down to the title. So it is my belief, that Aurora is staged to exceed Tilray long term. From Markets Insider: "Shares of Aurora are up 130% since its mid-August low of 4.10. The subsequent rally was fueled in part by reported talks with Coca-Cola to produce a CBD-infused beverage. The company has said it does not comment on exploratory discussions. Wall Street analysts have an average price target of $11 a share, a 10% premium to Monday's closing price. Aurora's surging stock has complicated trading for some investors. After a series of trading halts, US brokerage Robinhood blocked its users from buying new shares of ACBFF — Aurora's OTC listing — citing issues at its execution venues related to the high demand from customers. Aurora is held by more than 72,000 Robinhood customers, making it the 21st most popular stock on the app's "Top 100" list. The cannabis producer plans to file a a Form 40-F with US regulators soon, a regulatory form that Canadian company's must file to register on an American exchange, a move that will allow it to access more capital on the world's largest exchanges. "Listing our shares on a senior U.S. exchange reflects the level of corporate and business maturity and our high-paced execution," Booth said. "This listing provides access to a broader investor audience who gain the opportunity to participate in our continued success." Files for Listing From yesterday! Aurora Cannabis Files For Listing On The New York Stock Exchange "Aurora filed a Form 40-F today. It took Canopy Growth 8 days from Form 40-F to NYSE stock listing. US-traded companies trade at a premium to Canadian peers - will Aurora match that premium?" Read more about Aurora filing on the NYSE here: Aurora files for listing on NYSE and more I am investing long term but may sell sooner. I can't get a 15 bagger every time. Quadrupling my money would be good enough for me. I am not a greedy pig, because we all know what happens to pigs.
  11. Yes, the same. Because I was too conservative based on their preparedness for the legalization in a few weeks. I have now added to the only individual stock I've ever bought Tesla. So as of a few weeks ago, I bought two more. They've already yielded great profit and they are about to leap from the gates on the 17th. The other stocks peaked on hype before legalization. But NBEV was low priced and a bargain. Aurora will be on NASDAQ very soon. Then we will see. You really have to read the links on each I provided because all I'd be doing is repeating them. But don't follow my example, just read and then if you find better candidates you are willing to invest please do share. Just remember the stock market can take your money and leave you with losses. I can accept that for the little I invest. I don't gamble with house money or moving money. That is important because some folks just roll the dice and wait for someone to give them tips. One here made good money when NBEV went from under $3 to $8. But when I gave him the research I used he said he doesn't understand all that stuff. He just wants me to tell him tips? Man, I don't want responsibility for folks buying high and selling low. Thus my longer posts with the knowledge I used. I'm not out to convince others to do the same. As well there are people shorting stocks as a gamble who believe folks who tell the most outrageous conspiracy theories! I see that I run. Other flock to it like a moth to a flame. Tesla was good use of existing technology in a new way, from the programming to the battery pack builds and cooling. It was a new market that as I predicted will take over. These stocks make good use of existing manufacturing, lab, and growing techniques, in a completely new playing field. I'm avoiding the sprinters and am going with those that show the endurance needed to ramp up and go the distance.
  12. OK I may lose my butt but I increased my position today by an additional 3000 shares. I expect a very volatile ride until well after when pot is legal in all its forms across all of Canada on 17 October.
  13. If you are looking to get into cannabis this article is a must read from Seeking Alpha: https://seekingalpha.com/article/4209433-aurora-cannabis-may-go-ballistic Excerpt: "Conclusion When taking into account listing on a major exchange, sales from increased demand from recreational pot in Canada, expanding global footprint, improved gross margins, soaring sales, declining costs, and interest from large companies to enter into partnerships with them, I see Aurora Cannabis having a lot of room to boost its share price in the near and long term. The key is it has been able to position itself about as good as it can to take advantage of the market conditions presenting themselves to the company. Considering it has been able to perform so well while growing organically and via significant acquisitions, it's impressive to see the results it's starting to produce; they're going to get a lot better. As good as the short-term outcome will be as a result of increased sales from recreational pot in Canada, the real value of Aurora Cannabis is its transition to high-margin products, medical cannabis, and its strong entry into important international markets. With capacity being built out and costs dropping, it's positioned to win in almost any circumstance that presents itself to the company. It could take on partners, land more deals outside of Canada, rapidly scale production at some of its facilities, or make some more strategic acquisitions. With its expected upcoming listing, legalization of recreational pot in Canada, and supply that is ready to meet its obligations, I believe the company could double its share price by the end of the year. If it lands some big partnerships during that time, it could even surpass that lofty potential in the near term. Even so, the value of Aurora Cannabis is its long-term potential. It's one of the few cannabis stocks that could be bought and held in my opinion, without fears of it plummeting in value. I believe publicly traded cannabis companies have a lot more room to run, and Aurora Cannabis is one of a few of those companies that should be able to do so sustainably. For the reasons mentioned above, I think it's time to get into Aurora Cannabis before it soars higher. In the not-too-distant future I see $10 per share being far in its rear view mirror. Disclosure: I am/we are long ACBFF." Source: https://seekingalpha.com/article/4209433-aurora-cannabis-may-go-ballistic That's just the conclusion, the article is much more detailed showing why he arrives at this conclusion.
  14. Smitty, I learned a lot from you and your support was and is very much appreciated. I think I am best at technical digestion and seeing what I envision as the natural path they must/will follow. And that is useful only in high risk emerging technologies like EV cars and grid Battery backup systems. And now the emerging MJ market. Yeah Smitty, I am having a blast watching this emerge and develop. It is eerily similar to my feelings about Tesla when I bought on IPO. The pot stocks scare the hell out of some people who either are misinformed about the Canadian nationwide legalization of recreational pot which includes medical marijuana (MJ.) As we have seen in US states that legalized medical, they are over-controlling it because big pharma wants time to develop a monopoly on it but they lost their fairy tale of MJ addiction. And they should talk with their addicting of America for pieces of silver to opiates! So they are lobbying (read paying) for politicians big time to keep MJ illegal. Regardless of how that is not good for the citizens. They don't care. Just like the initial laws backed by NADA to pass state laws against direct sales without franchised dealers which they initially and quickly dropped as being to protect the consumers. LOL! The polarizers for politics will scare the average investor and make the product they want a monopoly on, in this analogy, oil polluting fuels and the franchise dealerships which can only exist with high maintenance ICE (Internal Combustion Engines) vehicles. There is virtually no dealer only maintenance on BEVs. (Battery Electric Vehicles - as opposed to PPHEVs or plug in hybrid vehicles which have a gas or diesel engine) Why no maintenance? Just look at the engines. BEV engine, one moving part the rotor, which is not under high heat stress and mechanical stress from exploding fuel. ICE engines do have high heat and mechanical stress from exploding fuel to drive the wheels with all kinds of pistons and piston rods, cams, valves, tappets, push rods, exhaust manifolds, engine water pumps, crankshaft, timing chains and/or belts, fans or fan belts, oil pumps, oil filters, all kinds of breathers and valves to try to reburn unsuccessfully the exhaust toxins, vacuum lines everywhere, injectors, fuel injection pumps, fuel lift pumps, turbos, engine coolant, radiators, catalytic converters, mufflers, oil seals, head gaskets, main seals, spar plugs, plug wires, distributors, electronic ignitions, Engine fans, EGR valves, O2 sensors, water hoses, air filters, fuel filters, starter motors, wet batteries filled with acid, and many more. BEVs have a battery pack with no acids, and no maintenance, an electric engine, with one moving part, none of the above that ICE engines have. They both have wheels, tires, wipers, brakes, wheel bearings (sealed these days that could last the life of the vehicle,) and those can be done by a non dealer mechanic or WalMart/Sam's mechanics. And tire dealers of every stripe. And after the initial cost they cost less in life of vehicle costs. And you get to charge overnight at home and quick superchargers on the road, not at a remote gas station with nasty oily grounds and the time it takes. How many folks would have cell phones if they had to go to town to charge them daily or every other day? So the uninformed or mono-news-views folks were told it was a fraud and won't work and it did? Despite that being untrue they finally had enough money behind them (can you say Koch? Koch attacks) to cause an SEC suit. But they never did that to Exxon or the other big guys that did worse. OK, Tesla will get by that and Musk remains as CEO, just not chairman, as well as being the majority stockholder. Musk and Tesla will still join Amazon and Apple with $1000 share prices soon as the market turns on the realities not Koch millions to fight . The Pot biz faces much of the same issues of big money from both drug criminals with money to pay politicians, and legitimate but heinous big Pharma. It also behooves politicians to generate outrage. The US is already behind the power curve and has ceded the entire legal market to Canada and Canadian companies that will all be trading on the US stock markets as about 1/3 already do. In this market the docs getting millions from prescriptions and big Pharma who is trying to find ways to monopolize them and monetize them as monopoly holders, will fail. They will try to use scare tactics and develop types of drugs from pot that individuals can't make and keep all but their "medicinal marijuana products" (read the same as the real thing) See, people worldwide will see the lack of crime increases and instead a drop of crimes committed to fund illegal drugs. Why isn't marijuana non-addictive? Why yes, it is. But the criminal dealer who sells it likely will also sell some or all of the hard drugs like Coke, Meth, Heroin for the respectable citizens who got hooked on prescription drugs and are now illegal junkies since they were cut off from the legal prescriptions. Keeping MJ illegal keeps all of those in play. The worst part is the is that the willfully ignorant will try to keep the naive and fearful in check with fear and violence wars of words. But that only in the US at this point because the rest of the world was watching Uruguay which was the only country where pot for every use was le3gal and now Canada is second. Once the other countries see reductions in drug crimes and the unbelievable tax revenues, as well as the reductions in tax expenditures to keep drug users in jail for having MJ in their possession. Right now a teen will have no problem, despite drugs being illegal in finding a source, and buying MJ or harder drugs within about 30 minutes anywhere. So being illegal does not make them less available. Making them legal does. That same teem will have to get and adult to buy alcohol for them or at least a fake ID. Illegal drugs are currently, as always, easier to obtain than the legal drugs which we can control. I am all for making all drugs legal, and available OTC! Yes even heroin. Alcohol is legal and I don't drink. I smoked a lot of MJ in the 60s but quit for the USAF. I did drink a lot of beer in the AF on "occasions," (Dining ins and Dining outs, awards formations and unit beer busts) but never became a drunk like some folks are. Drugs the same. I prefer to be a free man and not be putzed up by alcohol on a daily basis. But as I get older it will become increasingly more painful as my spinal issues get a bit worse with age. And I will not do pain killer opioids. Or any other addictive substance just for pain. MJ as a pain reliever I will believe once we are moved to Colorado and I can experiment. I will post back if it does. But like many, I remain to be convinced because early on we saw medicinal as an excuse for legal pot. Now the medicinal is not needed in seven states, all of Canada, and all of Uruguay. It is tolerated in most countries. All I see happening if all drugs were available over the counter is less needle transmissible diseases, no more crime to get drug money because they re available at the drug store for over 21 at stable low prices and dosages that will not cause unexpected ODs. As well, the new class of heroin addict who got hooked on opioids by their docs and big Pharma, and now have been cut off as a solution are desperate. legalizing all drugs would allow cheaper and as pure but big Pharma will have to focus on cures instead of pain killers and other low hanging drug user fruit. I don't smoke any more either but my wife does - outside since we got a new home built custom for us. It is legal and I don't use it either. Why aren't I wide eyed and craving and sneaking away? I have self respect. I do or don't, my choice, never the victim of another once I learn enough to know better. So why would folks say legal drugs will make us all drugged out addicts? Well, people judge others by how their own minds work so I say let Darwin take care of them, not my taxpayer monies for the jails, law enforcement that is a joke, and the crimes committed to get drug money by the users. Anyway, as we proved (read Freakonomics) making things illegal can create crime and problems. Example when I first came to the south, reluctantly due to the USAF assignment here in 1971, everything except Bossier City was "dry" for 100 miles around. It had the "strip" adjacent to Barksdale AFB catering to partiers of all ages. It had little crime compared to big cities. However my future in laws lived on the state line between Oak Grove Louisiana , and Eudora Arkansas. It was all dry there too except Eudora, a 30 minute drive each way, and all the holier than thou types drove one way sober and one way back drunk. Now legal, the death rate due to DUI is down to normal levels. What were those idjits thinking when they would rather their husbands and kids die on the road than have legal alcohol? Did they learn nothing from prohibition? So for those prone to preach their idea of MJ use as unacceptable, please there are surely some dry areas you can move to and test the ability of your family to drive under the influence back from wherever they drove to get whatever legally. When I visited I went over to Eudora to get a case of beer for the week and some of the ladies visiting at granny's glared at me like I would feel guilty and turn to stone from their stares. I laughed and offered them a beer, and if they had anything to say I would listen and drink that beer the whole time. I would not censor their beliefs any more than I'd let them censor mine. People are strange. So they are free to NOT invest in MJ bud, or the beer of the same name, and they can talk all they like but since my drinking smoking or doing any drug myself has no ill effect on them providing it is legal, and I choose not to do it and drive, it's NUNYA! They can do what they like or not, free country thus far. Was going to move to Canada but then Colorado made a nice place for us with even more advantages like staying in the country we loved and served all of our lives. First as military brats with career or near dads, and in our case a 27 year career in the military of our own. I liked Canada because of their and the US' dual citizenship rules. Yes you can live there and be a US citizen too. Great for snowbirds. However with them requiring old retirees to invest $2 million into a Canadian company immediately for their citizenship, I really wish I had that much free. I will in a few years with the MJ opportunities and BEVs as well as solar and other renewable power. Some of which will be on or around my house. Then we might have a Canadian cabin and a Colorado stix n brix and an RV to traverse the land between. Dylan's words are as relevant today as in the 60s. Perhaps more so vis a vis technology and education. Same with the song "Monster" by the band Steppenwolf. And the book by Hermann Hesse, Steppenwolf, which is a poetical self-portrait of a man who felt himself to be half-human and half-wolf. This Faust-like and magical story is evidence of Hesse's searching philosophy and extraordinary sense of humanity as he tells of the humanization of a middle-aged misanthrope. The Times They Are A-Changin' Bob Dylan Come gather 'round people wherever you roam, And admit that the waters around you have grown, And accept it that soon you'll be drenched to the bone If your time to you is worth savin' Then you better start swimmin' Or you'll sink like a stone For the times they are a-changin' Come writers and critics who prophecize with your pen And keep your eyes wide, The chance won't come again, And don't speak too soon For the wheel's still in spin And there's no tellin' who That it's namin' For the loser now Will be later to win For the times they are a-changin' Come senators, congressmen, Please heed the call Don't stand in the doorway, Don't block the hall, For he that' gets hurt Will be he who has stalled, There's a battle Outside and it's ragin' It'll soon shake your windows And rattle your walls For the times they are a-changin' Come mothers and fathers Throughout the land, And don't criticize What you can't understand Your sons and your daughters Are beyond your command, Your old road is rapidly agin', Please get out of the new one If you can't lend your hand For the times they are a-changin' The line it is drawn, The curse it is cast, The slow one now will Later be fast, As the present now Will later be past The order is rapidly fadin' And the first one now Will later be last For the times they are a-changin' That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
  15. TL Ram, Just start at the top of this thread. I go into detail in what and why. Also read my posts in "Are you still in" here next to this thread. TL, I just sold Tesla shares at almost the year's high price before the big fall and phony SEC fines, but that is another thread to start. I only sold because I needed cash to buy my next house in Colorado where they are from $300k-$500k for nice houses in nice areas. I want to be able to take my time selling this 5 acre and new house property, which is also paid for. TLRAM any buy of Tesla under $250 or even better 225 is a great buy as they are going to cut loose of new CapEx as their projects are finished and production really starts to fly on Batteries for PowerWalls for homes, and businesses, as well as enterprise and regional power production like the biggest lithium ion battery in the world they completed on time/budget in Australia. https://electrek.co/2018/01/23/tesla-giant-battery-australia-1-million/ https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-australia-45648303/world-s-biggest-battery-a-look-around-tesla-project Those are peaker plants that prevent the ten minute delay in powering up a fossil fueled peaker plant. But they can also keep full power for several hours which today is usually more than enough save for mass outages like Puerto Rico, and the Carolinas. They take over inm milliseconds exactly like a computer UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) for the few minutes until your backup generator kicks in or the power comes back on. MY UPS' can only handle two minutes or so but I have a whole house 25kw NatGas auto switching generator system that kicks in in less than 20 seconds. That delay to be sure the power wasn't just browning out. Once power is restored the generator senses the incoming power and waits until the surge and voltage is stable. Smitty, I am about to post an answer to your watching me have fun again with this over on the are you still in thread.
  16. We buy top grain cowhide or top grain leather only. The composition of "bonded" leather is ground up leather mixed with glues and some type of urethane or other vinyl like substance. Those will peel. Top grain leather is one piece animal skin and will not peel. Poor quality processing may result in cracks or seams that break but none of the things described here which I did have happen to a cheap Office Depot $99 on sale Executive office chair I bought here. I switched to Sealy big man office chairs for only twice the price. Same bonded but good quality bonded as it has lasted longer than the other with no signs of wear. Read the material tags.
  17. Not if you have to step on the pedal as said by one post. I always thought they were but never had one to try.
  18. These will be fun for you to watch Kirk. It is an emerging market that covers intoxicants, smoking and edibles, non intoxicating cannabinoids for medical use, and overlaps into the health food markets, as well as the beverages in the same niche as energy drinks. Fortunately I did due diligence in researching their effects and what MJ does when smoked or cooked in brownies during my teenage years in the 60s, in the New York City Metropolitan area. I even have annotated on my entry paperwork that I experimented with it. I really did not do anything but alcohol during and after my active duty time. The loss of prestige and credibility as a senior NCO leader were too much to risk. I had the devil of a time getting off cigarettes. I had to have a smoke when I drank a beer or mixed drink so I quit alcohol too. I am fine without either. I won't smoke MJ as I do not want to get back into nicotine. Beer will likely be OK but I can do without intoxicants just fine. I've never had issues with alcohol or behavior while drinking my whole life. But dang I was smoking three packs plus of cigarettes daily! Anyway, this is going to happen and investing in Canada where it will be legal and the marijuana companies can use banks. Even in Colorado the marijuana businesses can't deposit or in any way use federal money instruments because here they are still federally illegal. What makes more sense is for the feds to make it legal nationwide and then leave it up to each city or township to allow it in their jurisdiction. Canada will be running the criminals out of town, and don't give a hoot about US big Pharma, who are fighting legalization. How can they charge thousands for pain pills that addict, if people can grow what they need in the back yard? Canada will begin collecting tax revenues from every joint smoked, brownie or infused candy eaten and every infused beverage that people drink. And get rid of the bulk of the illegal uncontrolled or tested cannabis products. A kid can go get a joint or worse drugs in ten minutes despite them being illegal. But since alcohol is controlled they need a fake ID or an adult to get it for them. I'm not saying what is right or wrong. I am saying start collecting all those taxes! Don't do anything I wouldn't do. (remember I am married with kids(
  19. Ryno, From Forbes: What's Ahead For Aurora Cannabis After An Impressive FY 2018 Aurora Cannabis (TSE: ACB) reported a stellar fourth quarter (ended June 2018), with revenues increasing 19% over Q3 and a whopping 223% over the corresponding quarter of last year. What makes it even more impressive is that the quarter did not include the full results of its CanniMed acquisition (completed in May), and none of its MedReleaf transaction (completed in July). FY 2018 was a pivotal year for Aurora, as it transformed itself into a fully vertically and horizontally integrated company, helping them to control the entire production and trade process – from growing to selling, as well as diversifying their operations. The company has also placed itself in a great position to take advantage of the legalization of recreational marijuana in October by improving its inventory levels significantly. Moreover, rumors are also rife regarding a possible tie-up with The Coca-Cola Company to develop cannabis-infused beverages. All in all, the future seems to be bright for the company. There is a lot, a whole lot more in the sarticle here: https://www.forbes.com/sites/greatspeculations/2018/09/26/whats-ahead-for-aurora-cannabis-after-an-impressive-fy-2018/#78399ca617e5 The article goes on in detail to cover: Highlights From The Quarter 1. Improving Gross Margins: 2. Capacity Expansion: 3. Key Acquisitions: 4. Improving Metrics: 5. Impressive Investment Portfolio: 6. International Expansion: 7. U.S. Listing: Aurora plans to list its stock on a U.S. stock exchange, a strategy that has been highly beneficial for other cannabis companies such as Canopy Growth, Tilray, and Cronos Group, given the access to a greater level of investment. This guy really did the in depth research I wanted and might have missed.
  20. https://www.bing.com/search?q=igc+stock&pc=MOZI&form=MOZLBR I'll read through tomorrow. Did you buy before this rally? Do you own any of them? Love other input before the races start October 17th.
  21. We got spoiled by having a bidet in each elongated toilet in our 2015 house! I'd have to have one in any new RV. BTW, More water is better not worse.
  22. I like the ride. Besides, we only live once. We are trying to spend a bit more now as we can afford to splurge. But while we have a beautiful home, and every toy we want, we need to do some travel to Australia, and Asia, the only areas save the Antarctic we haven't been. We loved living in places, not visiting for eight country in ten days European tours. Maybe we RV there for a bit. I think the 17th will be interesting to say the least.
  23. I was surprised to see my little play in pot stocks drop then recover putting me in a 33% gain position after just a couple of weeks.
  24. Thanks Smitty! I told a friend who bought before the upswing and sold it near peak the next day. He made a bundle and owes me a steak dinner according to him. My hunch here is to hang around long until at least a bit after 17 Oct when it is supposed to go legal Canada wide. To me, this is analogous to the end of prohibition, when the illegal production was filling demand and looking for more. Once the legalization was in sight the markets changed sides if you will. However the gangs or cartels of those days decided to switch to drugs/prostitution/rackets/gambling. All of those are legal in most of Europe, save the rackets, and like Nevada even here. It's been my observation here in Louisiana as we got gambling first with the horse racetrack, that contrary to what the blue law toting anti everything groups claimed, this area actually cleaned up the "strip" which was for a century the only wet town in a hundred mile radius. Shootings and fights and folks getting rolled was the norm. But all that disappeared very quickly. Today the once seedy areas have been leveled and reclaimed as shopping and recreation venues. It is safer to walk at night today than back in the 70s without the hordes of drunks on the roads. I believe the same will happen with these drug laws when they fall. I've been where drugs/prostitution are legal over seas and didn't buy or use them, just my nicotine and ethanol. I doubt there will be any increases of crime from pot, likely a decrease as less meth and coke are used over time enough for the old addicts to OD. But I digress. I believe that today is ground floor, and when the bull market turns, and some folks feel the sting of a bear market, they'll use more alcohol and/or pot. I truly believe the best picks, and if I was lucky in my analysis, my picks, will be recession proof if not make more in economic downturns. Human nature. But like we could get them now illegally, I'm not a fan of being under the influence, legal or not. I even quit drinking along with smoking eight years ago. I doubt legalizing any of them would cause many of us to use them much if at all, with the same percentage turning it into a habit, legal or not. And some of the stocks will do an Amazon/Netflix/Tesla profit build and once settled, will be very secure. my generation knows better than the fear mongers of pot would try to convince otherwise. I'm feeling my way through it and will buy more after we see which way the wind blows. This is ground floor and the wheels still in spin.
  25. I don't know a thing about any Indian or Chinese EVs, only the Korean Hyundai and Kia BEVs and PHEVs. The Chinese aren't imported here, neither are the Indian EVs as of today that I know. I just checked and it is trading on the NYSE and here is today's quote: https://www.bing.com/search?q=NIO+stock+price&pc=MOZI&form=MOZLBR I found this: "Final Thoughts There is no reason to invest in Nio at this stage. Don’t fall for the trap of thinking this a cheap way to invest in the electric vehicle segment compared to Tesla. Nio is miles behind and has major battles to overcome. If you really want in on this segment, consider investing in traditional car manufacturers. They are slowly embracing electric vehicles and this is a good thing. As they sell gas powered vehicles, the revenue helps to soften the blow of research and development of electric vehicles. The result is a smoother ride along the journey. This author has no positions in any stock mentioned and does not plan to open any positions in any stocks mentioned for at least 72 hours after publication of this article."
