  1. Broke the rear curb-side leaf spring yesterday. Luckily able to get 2 ratchet straps onto the axle and limped into Missoula. Currently sitting in a truck repair garage waiting on parts to be overnighted. Lippert leaf springs are a non-standard 7-leaf, 25" eye-to-eye. Spring suppliers in town have 25" sets but they are only 6-leaf. Repair guy said he "could" add a leaf and it should work. He said if it were his coach, he'd wait on the right parts, so... Having 2 sets sent to replace both rears and will have an original spring for a spare. Coach is 4 yrs old. I am close to max weight, but not over. Maybe it was just the culmination of bumpy roads, IDK. Hope to get back on the road and to our destination tomorrow afternoon.
  2. In 12 years it'll be too late to change anything, so... At least that is what Bernie and AOC claim. Those 2 are so brilliant, I gotta believe them. Or maybe not.
  3. Is it one tire or all tires? If one, is it the same pressure and temp as the other tires when you start out in the morning? Is your loaded rig within it's specs. Are your axles within their load limits? Are your tires the correct specs for the weight? You might also consider the possibility of a malfunctioning TPMS. Swap it out with a sensor on another tire (assuming it is mounted on a valve stem) and see how it acts on a new tire.
  4. I have been using a Dish 1000.2 dish and both EA and WA LNBs for about 3 years. I also have a Super Buddy to aid in pointing. I do not always get good signal, but it is good enough. I do not bother setting up if only stopping for an overnight. More hassle than it is worth. And, sometimes chatting with a Dish CSR to change the service address for locals is a pain. If I had the funds, a Trav'ler would have been GREAT!! So wicked easy to use!! But, if you're in the trees, you're screwed.
  5. Al uses his vast wealth and buys "carbon offsets". The other 99% of us don't have the funds to do that.
  6. The graph above does not confuse climate with weather. As has been stated previously, the climate has been changing ever since there has been a climate. When the term "global warming" failed to raise an alarm, the term was altered to "climate change". Now humans think they can reverse the current trend of climate change, but only some countries need participate. It is unfortunate floods happen, but they have happened before. This time an AFB was impacted. I remember several years of flooding, decades ago, when the cities of Grand Forks and East Grand Forks were flooded. Similar story to AFBs near Tampa and the Fla panhandle being hit by hurricanes. Its not a national security threat just because a military base is in the direct path of nature. What about earthquakes in CA or tornadoes in KS and OK. A mile-wide twister could easily wipe out the flightline and hangars at McConnell or Tinker.
  7. Yeah, you made my point for me. After 13 years of this new process you have thoroughly described, the main post office in my town STILL screwed the pooch. A hard copy change of address was hand delivered to them. They updated it in the computer system. After the effective date, none of my mail to the old address should have landed in the carrier's bin, but it did. The carrier delivered my mail to my neighbor, because he can't leave mail at a vacant house. When I called the post office, the unhelpful lady confirmed the address change was, indeed, entered into the computer with the correct effective date. The unhelpful lady also said she would notify the carrier. According to you, the latter is not required, but the former did not put the new address on my in-transit mail. So, the 13 yr old process failed. Sunrise isn't the only place with USPS problems. Not by a LONG shot.
  8. I wonder if some zip codes were never notified of this change from 13 years ago. When I FINALLY got the number for my town's main post office, the unhelpful person on the other end of the phone told me she would be sure to notify the carrier, even though the forwarding instructions were in the computer. So if the carrier is not supposed to even see the mail, that process failed.
  9. What I love is filling out the mail "hold" or "forward" forms, either online or hard copy, and the mail NOT being held or forwarded. What a joy that is. Oh, it is updated "in the system", yet the mail is STILL going to the old address. Wow.
  10. For those of you using an 8800, how many bars of signal strength do you typically have? All I seem to get, regardless of location (city or rural), is 2. I get the occasional 3rd bar for a second or two, then it is back to 2 bars.
  11. Not all campgrounds/RV park prohibit it. Some want a few extra bucks if you're going to wash your rig. Some allow rig washing businesses with their own truck/trailer mounted water tank to come in and do it. You may have to call around to find a park that allows washing, but they are out there. Once you wash it, no one will bother if you're on the roof calking and what not.
  12. Today is our Day 1. Will keep the Fla domicile for a bit, but will likely change to SD in a year or so. Was just easier to keep Fla for now. But, over $1,100 just to insure my 2011 dually is enough to make me want to change. S&B sale should close within a month, as long as the inspections go well, which they should. Don't know how long we'll FT, but I know I won't buy another house. Maybe a condo, but not interested in a house again. Unlikely to live in Fla again, either. MT this summer, probably AZ this winter, then who knows.
  13. Printed out the Technomadia article cited above and took it to the Verizon store I got my 8800 from. Got a new SIM, new account, and new number. 8800 STILL shows the "No Data" statement mentioned in the article. Will not know if the issue is really fixed until the beginning of next month when I use the 8800 again. If it isn't fixed, I'll move to Option 2, Open a trouble ticket.
  14. VERY helpful post and article. Printing it out and taking it with me when I go to the Verizon store.
  15. My 8800 hasn't worked right since I bought it in December. I "think" there is some type of software conflict between my old and new account. It chokes at unpredictable times, usually while streaming a TV show via Dish On Demand. When I bought the 8800, someone at Verizon changed the device's phone number to my OLD device's number. I think THAT act is the root of the problem, despite Verizon saying it isn't. My 8800, on the prepaid unlimited account, shows a renewal date on the 10th of each month (date old acct renewed) and a data limit of 10240 gb. My acct is NOT an auto renewal, and ends on the 22d of each month, as well as being unlimited!! Next week I'm taking it to my local Verizon store and requesting a replacement device. The new sim card they gave me last week did nothing to solve the problem. The person at the store told me I'll have to leave the device since it is prepaid until the replacement device comes in. Good thing I don't need it for 2 weeks.
  16. Since you said you can use Amazon, just use them instead of hauling multiple bags with you. By now you should have a good idea of how long a bag lasts you. If you really want a buffer, order another bag once you open a bag.
  17. I have not changed the password and my 8800 STILL has drop outs.
  18. I have been having a LOT of failures on my 8800. I think the Verizon cell signal quality where I am is just not strong enough to support my demands. I have been using it to stream Dish On Demand shows while simultaneously surfing. Something just gets choked. The other night I was downloading an 8gb software update to my computer. It failed at 0.9 gb each time I attempted the download. At that time, all I was doing was the download. I'll give it a shot again in a few days when I get home. If nothing else, I'll just use the cable connection at home.
  19. Original mattress was thin junk from the Colorado Mattress Co. Replaced it with a regular mattress from a mattress store. It was fine for a few years, but I wanted a king bed in the RV since we have a king in the S&B. I'm VERY happy with the Purple mattress I bought for the RV. Not cheap, but sleep is GREAT, now that I'm used to it. If you KNOW what bed you have in you S&B and you are happy with it, consider buying one for your RV. That should mean no adjustment period that sometimes happens when sleeping on a new mattress. Only complaint about the original recliners is my foot/recliner lever doesn't always work. When the time comes, it will be replaced with a Lazy Boy.
  20. I have not used my 8800 for several days. Today I powered it on and it says no internet. My account says I have gone over my data...on my prepaid unlimited plan. Maybe it is time to do a factory reset and see what happens.
  21. I HATE checking tire pressures on my duals. With my TST system, I no longer have to on any tire. When I initially installed them, I was VERY careful to inflate to the correct pressure as shown on a KNOWN good gauge. Once I installed the TPMS sensors, I wrote down the reading. Regardless of what that showed, I KNEW it was a good baseline reading. Now when I get in my truck, I only have to mess with tire air pressure if the reading is below my comfort level...which isn't very often. Only negative is the sensors seem to restrict airflow so I remove them to add the air. Minor issue, but still a PITA. And, I had one blowout and 2 flats on previous 5ers BEFORE I added TPMS. The blowout would not have been detected. The 2 flats would have and I could have found a safe place to change the tires instead of along the side of I-75 for one and a back road for the other.
  22. Consider what repairs/replacements the house may need in the next 5+ yrs; new roof, new air con, new appliances, etc. If you're not sure, maybe spend $300 for a professional home inspector to inspect and give you a written report. If you decide to sell, you could use the info to fix things that need fixing prior to listing the house. Our house will be listed next Monday. I have strongly considered renting. Nearly every realtor I interviewed has someone in their office who is their rental coordinator. Realtor told me I could easily rent my house to cover the mortgage. Wouldn't have much extra for monthly profit, but someone else would be paying my mortgage. Then I remembered the home inspector's report from when I re-fied a few years ago. If the inspector's crystal ball is accurate, within 8 yrs the house will need a new roof ($15+K), and new air con (~$7K) and I have a feeling at least a new dishwasher and fridge (~$2K combined). Plus, I have no intentions of coming back to this house and the wife is definitely not interested in coming back. So selling makes the most sense for us.
  23. My 4510-L (it is an older model) will cycle off and on once it is fully charged and still plugged in. I plan to buy a new jet pack in the not too distant future.
  24. Took my mifi to a Verizon store today and signed up for the prepaid. Got back to the RV and the mifi keeps connecting then disconnecting from the signal. Signal meter shows strong signal, then it is gone. Don't know if it is a hardware or software problem. Will deal with it later in the week.
