Wrknrvr
He puts them on his jeep. Yep, 16" mini van rims and off we go. The tires are over five years old so time to put new on the fifth wheel. But what about the wheel bearings Bad. Vern
lappir
I did that once on an old jeep pickup. Found some trailer tires at a Garage sale 4 for $40. Used them for a couple years. Seemed to have a much rougher ride than the replacements both before and after. No problems, but the pickup just went to the dump a few times a year. Wrknrvr
This my service vehicle for mobile RV repair. So it has to run at highway speeds. It is a 1990 yj and several years ago I installed a new 350 Chevy crate motor. I have owned this jeep for just about ten years. Two years ago I got a set of Goodyear 614 tires for free, bought some mini van wheels off of a 1998 or so model year and they ran great on the jeep. So back in March of this year the jeep had a nice set of Goodyear 647 installed. Old but in great shape. Ran them slow for a few hundred miles. All seamed to be going well. A few times at 65 mph. Then there was a Big Bang. At 52 mph. But Waite a minute the Big Bang was from a whitetail deer. Just got to see his horns go under the hood. His hind quarters went above drivers side tire and pushed the fender straight up. He stayed there for a few seconds then went back under the left side tires. Had to strap the hood down once I opened it. The radiator went towards the fan but did not hit it. Got it to RV and looked it over. It drove ok but only at about 50 mph. Hooked the fender and grill to a fork lift and pulled the sheet metal out fairly good so as to function. Replaced most moving parts on front drive assembly. It still started to shake at about 44 mph. Just shortly after the accident I had installed the old15" tires and wheels. That made no difference. So with a trip to get the tires balanced there where two that were badly out of round. I had them mounted and balanced back in March So with the 5th wheel needing new tires because of age. 5.5 years old tires on the jeep and now it will cruise at 70mph. The jeep does have air shocks front an back so that really helps with the ride. I ran the jeep over scales several years ago and that shows it has about 2000 lbs of parts and tools in it. That helps the ride also. I had some sore muscles in my back for a day or two. But really glad the deer did not come back to the windshield. Just the morning of the accident I picked up a grill gard for the HDT. And last fall I cut out a grill guard for the jeep ,,,,, Just never installed it until after the deer episode. Now he jeep has a grill guard installed also. Speedometer if of considerably. So just use a gps Safe Travels, Vern
wtgeodog
When I was working I ran XPS Traction on my pickup. They seemed to repel Mesquite thorns whereas Wraglers seemed to attract them The XPS might ride rougher than G-614 but they will serve you well.
