Hello

We are an italian couple of travellers

We travelled around Europe, Africa and part of asia with our land rover

Now that we are retired we would like to visit the usa and tought to buy a camper there, used but still able to make much road.

We have a budget of about 15.000 usd.

We saw many articles in this forum and understood that main problem is to have an address in the usa to be able to register the camper and make insurance.

It seems that this problem can be solved with a post office box of escapee that allow the registration in Texas.

Remain now  to find a camper, check  that has not big issue and documents are in order (clean title ?).

We are now in Italy and have no experience, do you know if there is somebody that can do this for us ?

We accept all suggestions, knowed sellers or a private that want to sell his camper

Many thanks for your help

First of all, welcome to the forums! We are happy to help and will do our best to do so. There is a dealer in used RVs in the Houston area who has been used by a number of citizens of other countries to buy an RV that will be registered with the Escapees and that is PPL RV Sales and they list a lot of RVs of different types and prices. I am thinking that you may find the budget that you have to be a bit limiting but contact them to let them know what you are looking for as they may be able to help.

Before you buy will will need to have your Escapees address so use this link to get information about doing that. Feel free to ask as many questions as you may have and join in on any subject on our forums.

The average used car is now selling for twice what you want to spend for an RV.

Trying to buy an RV in your price range will be all but impossible.  If you up your budget and can find a suitable unit, a dealer should be able to help with the logistics of insurance and registration.  That will turn out to be a minor issue compared with everything else.  Another issue will be using the RV.  Covid has changed RV use since the National Parks and other major attractions are crowded to the point of being absolutely overwhelmed.  You will need to make reservations a long time in advance.  None of these issues are going to be easy to handle from overseas.

Your best approach is likely to plan many months ahead and arrange for a rental and then make reservations for the places you want to visit.  Some of the large rental companies will sell you one of their used RVs and you can then sell it on the open market or they will rebuy it.  Those rebuy programs were popular several years ago.  Perhaps someone else knows the current status of those programs.
