genecolleen
What is the requirement for Texas DL to drive a HDT? I need to make a 20 hour drive and have a friend share the driving time. He is a Texas resident, is there an endorsement so he could drive my truck? We are just pulling a flatbed 20’ trailer loaded with AC units. Big5er
In Texas the class of drivers licenses is based on the gross vehicle (or combination) weight RATING. A class C license is for any vehicle with a GVWR of less than 26,000lbs. A class B is for a single vehicle with a GVWR in excess of 26,001 lbs and it can tow a trailer with a GVWR of less than 10,000lbs. A Class A license is for a combination of vehicles with a GVWR in excess of 26,000lbs with a trailer that has a GVWR in excess of 10,000lbs. Those classes of drivers license are available in a commercial and a non-commercial license. There is no endorsement, he would need the proper class of license.
