Recommended Posts

Well I have a 2004 Tropical with a kingdome  on it which I have never used only had rig since February ,I am told it is time to retire the Kingdome my question is which way to with a satellite buy a new dome for the roof or go with the portable style,I have heard if permanent on the roof an you get inference when parked you either move or ?? Which way would you recommend? Oh we have direct tv at home if that helps or not

While I have never used one of the domes, I do have experience with a portable dish and know that it needs to have a clear shot at the southern sky to get TV. With a portable you just carry it to a place not under trees but I don't know how much the domes are impacted by parking under trees.

All roof mounted dishes are subject to signal blockage by trees, etc. more than portable dishes that can be usually be relocated to a clear view location. Winegard and King Controls both make portable self aiming dishes that are suitable for DirecTV standard definition signal reception. As a Dish subscriber, I'll leave it up to the DTV subscribers to suggest specific dish models and receiver combinations for portable RV use.
