itsfred
kinda curious as to what the price is to chassis dyno a truck. also what information will be gained from doing one? besides horsepower and torque will it tell you if you have bad injectors ect. does this also include an emission test during the dyno? can i find out some of the same info from oil analylsis? thanks for your time Fred
VegasFlyer
We just had one done last week as part of a pre-buy inspection. It cost 199.00. What they can provide, depends on the equipment (Dyno), but normally it will provide power output of the engine in its current configuration and possible blow-by. In our case, the truck has a D13 which has a closed system, s they were unable to get a blow-by indication. The value of doing in a pre-buy is to show the general health of the engine and drive train. It is not an absolute, but not uncommon for weak components to give way on a Dyno. Exile
Gives a rough estimate on how long before the next rebuild of the engine. Low power= needs rebuild. Does not identify all parts that are bad, just a rough idea of wear on parts directly related to power, maybe injectors, rings, valves, liners And exactly what vegasflyer said. Jack Mayer
That is on the low side of a Dyno. I have seen them over $300.
