coachmac9
Talked with the rangers yesterday and they are looking for a couple of camp hosts to come in as soon as possible. They plan on re-opening the park March 1. They would love to have someone who would rather do minor repairs to help in the re-building of a couple of flood damaged buildings instead of the normal camp host duties The people here are incredibly nice and will work with just about any type of situation you have. Very laid back atmosphere and very easy to work with. Here is the phone number so you can get more information. (903) 796-6476 This park is in the northeast corner of Tx. on Lake Wright Patman!! Kirk W
Are you aware of the situation at any of the COE parks as far as water level is now? There are a group of us in our community who are considering a visit to Rocky Point Park.
coachmac9
Kirk, they are looking at April 2 at the earliest for Mauldin and Rocky Point to re-open.
Kirk W
Thanks for the update. We typically go up in March as a group of about 20 RVs so it looks like that won't happen this year. I just went on Recreation.gov and it shows an April 1 opening also. The same is true for another favorite of ours, Burns Run East, up on Lake Texoma. coachmac9
It's really a mess along the Red and Sulphur River and over this way. The amount of damage and refuse left after a flood is unbelievable. We have been fortunate that very little rain has fallen since the initial floods in December, normally this is a very wet time of the year for us. coachmac9
Still needing two or three camp hosts here at Atlanta State park. The park will re-open March 1. Very, very nice folks to work with.
coachmac9
Well our "open season" didn't last long!! We will close again due to the recent rains we have had which has caused the lake to begin rising again. Hosts are still needed when our rainy season eases up so if you are interested, give them a call...they are wonderful people to work with!! coachmac9
Thankfully the water has begun to recede and the park is open once again!
coachmac9
Well, thanks to the latest round of floods that has hit our area the park is closed again. Hopefully it will be for a short time but who knows. In the meantime we are enjoying a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood!!!
