Zulu
Well, it ain't SWM, but DISH's new DISH Hybrid Pro (DHP) equipment promises to simplify DISH Hopper networking, especially in an RV: DISH Hybrid Pro.
Zulu
This new DHP equipment may be intended for the expected new Hopper 3 and "Wally" receivers at this January's CES.
McHero
Does the Dish hopper require SWM?
Mark and Dale Bruss
No SWM is a DirecTV technology. Dish uses DPP (Dish Pro Plus), an earlier technology, by several years, to SWM for bringing signals from the dish to the MOCA ( Multimedia Over Coax Alliance) network used inside the facility. DPP provided for the stacking of two signal streams on one coax cable. SWM provides for 8 endpoints. MOCA has more end points than SWM but currently is only used between the Hopper and Joeys (clients). The new DPH ( Dish Pro Hybrid) is changing the number of data streams between the dish and the MOCA network and will be used only in Hopper installations. Dish tries very hard not to obsolete the equipment in the field and introduces technology in a compatible way.
Zulu
I tested a DISH Pro Hybrid LNB on my Winegard Travler -- it worked! In automatic Multi Sat Mode the modified Travler acquired sats 110, 119, and 129 as usual, and in Manual Mode I was able to acquire sat 61.5 (but not 72.7).Here are my Travler Upgrade Instructions. Mark and Dale Bruss
That was some great testing Zulu. Have you contacted Winegard to say you have done some of their testing?

Mark and Dale Bruss
There might be a new Hopper released at the CES and it might require the Hybrid equipment so this is good news.
Dale P
I have Hopper and Joey and only ran 1 cable inside. I installed the Solo Node outside next to my Wineguard. Once inside I then attach the splitter Hopper and Joey.
Mark and Dale Bruss
Once inside I then attach the splitter Hopper and Joey. For clarity, the splitter is called a Dish Tap. It turns out with the Hopper 3 that the new LNBFs and Solo Hub indeed are needed for the 16 channel communication between the LNBF and Solo Hub to feed the 16 tuners that the Hopper 3 has. Brew
Thanks for the info. Couple questions. I currently have a Winegard Traveler, a Hopper with Sling with a OTA tuner, a Super Joey and two wireless Joeys, installed in my coach. If I converted the LNB to the PRO and switched to the HOPPER3 what would become of the WIreless Joeys and Super Joey? I believe I'd gain more tuners, 16 vs the 5. But what do I lose? Does the Hopper3 support the same OTA tuner? The wireless Joeys? Also where did you acquire your PRO LNB? TIA

If I converted the LNB to the PRO and switched to the HOPPER3 what would become of the Wireless Joeys and Super Joey? You probably couldn't use any of your current equipment -- the Super Joey for certain. Currently, Hopper 3s only work with Joey 2.0s & 4K Joeys. Plus, you can't have more than one Hopper 3 and you can't mix other older Hoppers. Does the Hopper3 support the same OTA tuner? The wireless Joeys? OTA Tuner -- probably. Wireless Joeys -- unknown Also where did you acquire your PRO LNB? Western Arc Hybrid Pro LNBF Eastern Arc Hybrid Pro LNBF
