Pay as you go cellphone

We currently have a Virgin Mobile pay as you go cell phone that costs us $20 every 3 months. It is rarely used and solely a backup phone. We have looked for better plans and can't find any. Our other phone is ATT and any new plan we would like not to be
ATT.

Try T-Mobile all no contract and you should be able to use your AT&T phone there if you are free of the contract.

 

Coverage for phone works good for us. Data if you need it is good to ok. Not Verizon but rates are good. We do just fine with it.

Great. Thanks. T-Mobile has a $3/month plan which is perfect for our backup phone and good coverage. I just ordered a phone. Our Virgin Mobil phone wouldn't work with T-Mobile.

If your looking for the best plan (prepaid or postpaid) for a backup/emergency phone the best one is Selectel's $75 a year plan. It has Verizon ceverage along with their roaming partners.

If your rig breaks down in the middle of nowhere, coverage is critical.

And this is the best phone for coverage. It's only works on CDMA 1G, but it's purpose is to make calls. While VZW is sunseting their 3G service, they will be keeping 1G for quite some time moving forward.

Just make sure the seller say's it's a Verizon version:

I have been real happy with tracfone. Buy a phone with triple minutes.

$30 for 3 month with 120x3=360 minutes.

So... 10 bucks a month.

I use a Page Plus Cellular which is on the Verizon network as an Temp/power alarm cell. It's good for a 4 month period and 100 minutes for 10 buck's. It works perfectly for what I need it for but in a pinch, it could also be used for whatever reason you might require.
