SWharton
I went to RV Park Reviews and there doesn't seem to be any "good" campgrounds around Valley Forge. Does anyone know of some hidden gems?
vairman
Brandywine Creek is a nice campground approximately 30 minutes from Valley Forge National Park. It is located in Glenmoore, PA. There are also several nice campgrounds in the Lancaster area but that is around an hour away. Mark
SWharton
Thanks. May stay on a friend's property but good to know about Brandywine Creek. Not rated very well in Rvparkreviews though.
trailertraveler
Good, bad or otherwise; I don't think there are any campgrounds/RV parks really close to Valley Forge. Brandywine Creek (in Lyndell,PA near Marsh Creek State Park), the Westchester KOA (which isn't really in Westchester) and French Creek State Park are likely the closest. We a have stayed in a few parks in the Narvon/Bowmansville area. As said, there are a number of parks in the Lebanon and Lancaster area. There are also parks in the Greenlane and Lansdale area Northeast of Valley Forge. My copy of Days End is getting dated, but it shows listings near Reading and Ephrata. There are Casinos in the area of Valley Forge and Chester that might be worth checking out for blacktop boondocking.
dblr
I really would not even think of the casino in Chester, between not a great location and very low bridges in the area could add up to a very unpleasant experience. 2017 River Stone Legacy 38MB 2001 T2000 Kenworth 2009 Smart Passion ET Junior hitch
Al F
If your intent is to visit the Independence NP in Philly as well as see Valley Forge NP I would suggest staying at Timberlane RV Park just across the river from Philly in NJ. We stayed there for 3 weeks in 2010 and found the RV Park to be comfortable and easy to get to the NP in downtown Philly. It was about a 20-25 minute drive to DT Philly(including getting into the parking lot) and about an hours drive to Valley Forge. It did take us 3 full weeks to see most everything we wanted to see related to the history of our independence from England. SWharton
We are visiting friends just north of Valley Forge. They have found a neighbor who has a farm that we can stay at, solves the problem. Thanks everyone...............
