  1. So nice that everything turned out for you. Sometimes you find a few "gems" in this world. Merry Christmas.
  2. I agree. Hope everyone has a great time, enjoys the festivities and doesn't overeat! We'll be back on the plane about midnight tomorrow night heading back to Sunny Florida. Merry Christmas.
  3. What a winter! I think Florida is experiencing the La Nina and the west side is getting the brunt of El Nino. At least Washington is getting it's share from floods to winds to expected snow. We're just hoping things calm down until after Christmas and we get back on the plane heading south. The rains are still coming and flood waters aren't receding as much as they had hoped. High winds did a lot of damage to the area our "cabin" is in. However, it escaped damage. Now it's snowing there and we can't get back unless we want to break down and get chains for our 4WD .... that's not happening. Two more days.
  4. You can always Fedex leftovers to Florida!
  5. ... that is hanging around sunny, hot and humid Florida this year. Well, at least it's not raining and the wind isn't blowing like it seems to be in Arizona and Washington. However, we'll know more about it tomorrow as Janice and Jerry are taking us to the airport in the morning for our trip to Phoenix and then later in the week we'll head to Washington for Christmas. We didn't pack any summer clothes for the trip but dug out our winter and rain clothing for the trip. Maybe I should be thankful it's not snowing .... or, maybe that's in the forecast too ???
  6. Watching storms over the ocean is something many people love to do. You probably missed THE big one this year. The storm continues up there. Even a tornado hit!! They nearly NEVER get tornados.
  7. Well, daughter and SIL couldn't get home last night. Another landslide closed northbound lanes on I5. Son works north of Kalama so he got home close to midnight. DIL didn't go to work because she couldn't drive her car through the floods in town to get to the freeway. What a mess.
  8. Joe said there's a short reprieve from the rain but they are expecting more. Sounds like the more is going to be coming from where you are at. Even without the flooding the soaking of the ground will probably bring down a lot of trees and those trees are big there!! Jerry had the same issue with his jacks. He stopped at an RV wrecking yard and they had the right circuit board and he was on his way farther south saving about a cool thousand bucks!
  9. Both of us have upgraded. We also know quite a few others who have without an issue. How's the rain in your area? I knew southwest Washington had set records for rain but didn't know the extent of it until Sandie sent me a text this morning wanting to know how our kids were doing. Thus, I called them. Evidently, their little town of Kalama has made the news. It's totally flooded! The police station had 8" of water in it this morning and now I guess it's up to over a foot. Exits from the freeway are closed. Even I5 was closed due an accident caused by the flooding. Three people were killed. A little RV Park in Kalama has had floating RVs. They had to bring in tow trucks to pull them out. They're now blocking the roadway. Daughter couldn't drive north for work but could go south on the freeway towards Portland to work in another location. DIL couldn't get to work in Woodland. She couldn't drive through Kalama as water was too high for her car. We park our Jeep in a storage area behind our daughter's house. Evidently there was a landslide there and a few trees came down. Our vehicle escaped getting hit but others didn't. What a mess for sure. Son's house is on the top of the hill behind the City Hall in the picture below. He's high up ... thank goodness. He's always had a view of the Columbia River from the 2nd floor of his house. Now he has a better water front view.
  10. I can't say we understand but we do. We haven't had near the rain you've had. I guess being just a little farther north has made a lot of difference. We did walk the beach one day but it really wasn't a beach day. We haven't had one since we've been here. They say the weather is clearing up but we have to see it to believe it. However, it hasn't been that bad besides we're heading to Phoenix next week for a short visit and then on to Washington for the holidays. I'm sure that's when the nice weather will arrive down here. I think I brought Murphy with me especially since we caught a tad of the "Rempe disease".
  11. We've been lucky in we're just a tad north of Miami and haven't had the rain that Jeff has had. However, next year I'm thinking San Diego but we really do like Bonita Springs ... really, really do. Figure we'll head west in the spring sometime and would like to visit with Freddy and Delcie before they head on to Colorado and the Gillespie crew before they head north. I know we'll see the rest of those in Texas sometime and somewhere (yes, you, Roger). Thinking we'll probably put RV in storage in Arizona someplace until fall and then start all over again with the snowbird thing in the fall. You know how good we are at making plans and keeping them.
  12. Ovens are also a dry heat!! We visited with Eric and Karla today and plan on getting together with them along with the Hintons and Hyders this next week for a kayaking adventure. Lots of pontoon boat opportunities in Florida. Come down and we'll give one a try.
  13. Whatever or whoever it certainly was tragic! Whatever she used to make that delicious brew was worth the chance. It was sure good.
  14. We ended up pulling into your spot in IBE. Nice spot, Roger, glad you gave it up but wish you were here to enjoy it with us. Marsha/Paul - We opened your home brew tonight and shared it with John & Sharon and Janice & Jerry . All six of us LOVED it! Jerry thought you should send us more. I agree. Thanks again!
  15. He had his lcd screen replaced by a computer tech. The computer tech ended up deleting much of his data. So, he used Carbonite to try to get his data back. It didn't work. He was pretty annoyed.
  16. I have an RV friend that lost all the data on his computer a few months ago. He thought he was safe because he had Carbonite. However, after hours and hours of a download, the information from Carbonite was corrupted. He lost it all. I'm not a fan of uploading a lot of data on the web anyway. However, I know tons of folks do it. I have a couple large drives that I occasionally back up my info on. However, my occasional backup isn't as often as it should be.
  17. Isn't that the truth. Thank goodness I had most of the programs previously loaded on the dead computer and the serial numbers available to reload. It also takes forever to delete the 30-day trial programs you don't want. Continuing with the having said that and "there are always ways to get old files and stuff off the old puters....." I want you to show me! I have the disk in an enclosure for you to prove it (and I hope you can).
  18. My backup was much older than a couple weeks. I hate learning the hard way. I also hate having to get a new computer but when your computer dies, there is no choice. It's just so much work getting it set up again but what is, is.
  19. Well, it's over. We've been fed and also hit the pre-Black Friday sales. Best Buy had a huge, huge line but we toughed it out and ended up with a new computer. Now the hard part comes ................... setting it up. Of course, I've lost most everything on my old computer so I get to start again. Maybe I'll remember to back up more often in the future.
  20. Well, we now have two window awnings replaced. Still hoping our other awning gets repaired before we pull out of here on Tuesday. They've had almost 3 weeks to do it and it's already been paid for so our fingers are crossed. My computer died yesterday and I'm not a happy camper about that. I might be in the Black Friday crowds looking for a deal ... haven't decided yet. And, Happy Thanksgiving from Orlando, Florida.
  21. Well, we saw the same old setup yesterday at a local Wal-mart .... . They had just about everything set up right in the parking lot .. pad, chairs, table, generator .. you name it and they had it out.
  22. Wind? Rain? We may not be having wind or rain but I'm sure getting eaten alive with all the bugs in Florida. How do locals survive?
  23. It's been running close to 90 degrees around here. I'm more than happy to send some of it to a few of you. I'd like it to be down to about 75. Now that would be perfect as no heater or air conditioner would be needed.
