  1. Dave's dad got weak when he stopped being interested in meals. He got tired of the preparation. Turned out he was not eating enough calories to maintain muscle mass. As much as we would like to think it's possible, you really cannot live on cookies. Hopefully your Mom's assisted living place will serve three meals per day instead of the one that Carl's place served. Linda
  2. We stayed awhile in the Florida panhandle one year. It rained most of the time we were there. In south Florida you often get a short but intense shower in the afternoon but it doesn't last all day like it did in the panhandle. Dave got a really bad head cold while we were there which made me even grumpier since neither of us slept well for its duration. I guess I think the panhandle is a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. Linda Sand
  3. We did what Steve did when our SD registration didn't come through quickly enough. It was the dealer that screwed up ours. Once they have your money it is hard to motivate them. Linda
  4. We stayed home on the 4th. Could have watched the city's fireworks from our balcony if the trees hadn't done such a good job of leafing out this year. So we just listened to them while watching Numb3rs on Netflix. Nice relaxing time in between the tense program moments. Linda Sand
  5. I'm not worrying about Lee letting himself get roped. He did that once and spent years off the road. I think the freedom to keep traveling this time will help him remember what not to do. Of course, we all lose some memory as we age so maybe there is a bit of risk there. Linda
  6. Good plan to move into the new rig on site. Helps get the right stuff in the right rig. Glad to hear your eyes are much improved. That will help in checking out new cowgirls. Linda Sand
  7. When I first got bifocals they made me sick. Then we went on a train trip where I took Dramamine. By the end of the three-day trip my glasses no longer made me sick. Linda
  8. Glad you finally managed to get a Navion. I hung my most recent paper towel holder vertically; there was just no good place to put it horizontally. But mine was not one where you install the towels over the end of it. Might be best to just buy a new holder that will work where you have room for it. Linda
  9. Hey, Lee. Guess you weren't supposed to buy the one in Iowa so as to be free to buy this one. Way to go! Linda
  10. Leave Steve alone. Oklahoma still needs rain to help it recover from the previous drought. I have a friend in Norman who is enjoying sitting with her patio door open soaking up the humidity. Now, if they could just keep the heat turned down there... Linda
  11. Many, many years ago we camped in a tent trailer at Coeur D'Alene. Visited our very first water park there. Great fun! Now we tend to spend our Idaho time way further south since Dave has brothers who live alongside White Bird Hill on US 95. Linda Sand
  12. It's kind of like when we went to Key West--it was very expensive but we figured we were only going to do it once in our lifetime so we broke the piggy bank and went for it. Linda
  13. I was thinking about raining elephants when I suddenly remembered, "Birdie, birdie in the sky..." Linda
  14. Maybe the lack of sleep last night and tonight will make your anesthesia take better for your surgery tomorrow. Then tomorrow night you will be exhausted enough to sleep well. In the meantime--Circus!!! Linda
  15. I vote go to California. Just don't stay there long enough to get declared a resident. Linda
  16. Deal! I wondered how you'd get there and still be able to drive the thing back. Once back in Deming will you have a toad or go without like we did in our View? Linda
  17. Lee, If you wind up going to Forest City, the city park has a bunch of campsites and dump/water islands where you can spend a couple days testing things out. Winnebago has a small campground where you can plug in while waiting for service if you have a punch list. Service WILL knock on your door at 7 AM so plan to be up and ready by then. The dealer there, Lichtsinn sp?, has a good reputation. Winnebago also has their own rally grounds where they host the Grand National Rally. In July, I think. Good place to go to meet other View owners and learn what mods they have done. They park all the Views together because they fit back to back in sites that would only take one of the larger Class A rigs. The rally grounds only have water at the end of the row but, when we went to the GNR, the View owners chained their hoses together down the row so anyone who wanted to could refill their tank without having to move the rig. That's also where I broke my face but that's another story. Linda
  18. Cool! If we were going to buy another View that's probably the one we'd buy. I think it's the best plan for being able to use it without having to open any slides or to hassle with the beds. Be aware that carpeted area between the beds is the equivalent of a gasser's doghouse. I like the idea of the nightstand between the beds. I always had to tuck my clock and flashlight under my pillow since there was no bedside place to put them. Those beds are pretty skinny, though, so be sure to test them to see if you can turn over without falling out of bed. Otherwise, you might want to store some pillows on that doghouse to reduce headaches. Linda
  19. Wow, Lee! I bet you sleep for a couple days to recover from that speedy trip! Better than being too sick to move, though. Or spending all your time in shops like Roger. I hope everyone's luck turns good and everything offers smooth sailing now. Linda
  20. Lee, I've been told it is not a good thing to top off your DEF. It messes up the measuring system that tells you when to refill it or something like that. Linda
  21. Thanks to Jeri's prompting I had Dave move my pin today. Don't want you all trying to do a meet up with me in North Carolina now that i am back in Minnesota. We've had some weird weather this year--big snow flakes one morning then very warm sunshine that very afternoon. Linda
  22. Happy anniversary! May you have 34 more of them. Linda
  23. We had some of that thunderstorm last night. Today it is sunny but windy. They are preparing to do some major roadwork on I-494 just west of us and Dave is being entertained by the machine that moves the concrete barriers back and forth to make the three lanes that are normally all northbound be two south in the morning but two north in the evening so they can close the regular southbound lanes during construction with minimal interruption of traffic. Makes me think of that old sign that says, "Work fascinates me. I can sit and watch it for hours." What can I say, we have no novice RVers trying to park their rigs in our view here in the apartment. Although there was an interesting-looking RV parked at Perkins where we had breakfast this morning. Linda
  24. Lee, My iPad's iOS doesn't update until I tell it to. Wonder why your's doesn't wait? I bet Dave could tell us. You must have something that says update automatically turned on somewhere. Linda
  25. I checked to see if I could beat that with the local campground we stayed at when preparing to go full-time but my map says it is 12 miles so we only tied you. Then i read Dave's post about moving within a campground so I guess the time we had to move up on the hill to avoid a flooding river was even shorter than that. Those moves do help offset the occasional too long day, right? Although they don't help you feel rested at the end of one of those longer days. Linda
