  1. Amen to Tom's comment... our favorite place to bathe the truck does a decent rinse with open hood (Danny's Oasis Truck Center, west PHX); they do a nice job, standard treatment includes towel down the window and major exterior sections... tire treatment & topocal wax (avoid the RainX, it's bad for the clear coat, my local RV wash & wax guy advises!).

Checking if it works for me...
  3. Please clarify prices --- whiich price is the Volvo and which is the 5'er?!?
  4. Ha, ha, ha — happy memories getting the trailer properly leveled out with that pin box mod (along with Misc fixes & BlueDot install)— 6 weeks at upstate NH forest with you & Davena, Henry B. daily visits with MIL, Lorena! Cheers to all at Hutch!
  5. Aha, a new Binkley head that’s less than 100#… finally, now that I’m 15 years into the old GOAT - ET Sr😬
  6. Driving Hwy 1 (PCH) north from Morro Bay to Carmel. Is a sweet ride -- okay for us many times, at 64' it's no biggie! -Don
  7. Main St Station casino (in Vegas) has RV park, FHU, $25/nite, walking distance to Fremont St Experience. http://www.mainstreetcasino.com/ Monterey has Elks lodge with RV parking (members only); same deal in Salinas. Or, Watsonville has fairgrounds with camping spaces (if no big event is going on). Alternatively, check Day's End directory (SKP only subscription, $12/yr)... Contact Guy Gipson or the website ... http://www.daysenddirectory.com/ HTH! -Don
  8. P.s. We miss Yoda,,, wish you were here -- hope all is well! Don & Fannie
  9. We are (finally) safely ensconced in (sunny) valley of the Sun (east Mesa, AZ),,, our winter haven; 75' covered RV parking next to the house, full hookups for properly equipped full-timers. Here for 3 mos (sq/round dancing & MLB spring training), holler if you get close (en route to North Ranch, or Q, or whatever!).
  10. P.p.s. FWIW, the b.s. I've had dealing with lost pads & broken calipers (no thanks to Kodiak!), we coulda had about 10k more dollars over the years -- disc brakes are huge over-kill with HDT toter, and potentially high maintenance (what with pads, calipers & rotors); I do love the BlueDot affect -- it's amazing to feel all 14 wheels grab at the same time, just not necessary if driving an HDT -- plain old electric brake drums, properly & cheaply maintained, woulda been just fine!@!
  11. P.s. Give our regards to R&D; also, hi to Dave & Renee!
  12. If you're so inclined, we are (just now) safely ensconced in (sunny) valley of the Sun (east Mesa, AZ),,, our winter haven; 75' covered RV parking next to the house, full hookups for properly equipped full-timers. Here for 3 mos (sq/round dancing & MLB spring training), holler if you get close (en route to North Ranch, or Q, or whatever!).
  13. Yep,,, nice pics -- glad to see what looks like a 4-step automatic entry steps(?); on close inspection, entry door is adjacent the LR slide (not in it!). How do I learn/contact John Palmer? I may need solar "fix", looking for advice (him or Jack)? We are (soon) in Mesa, AZ for the winter; give a holler if you get close enough to chat!
  14. We finally made it back to Mesa from Alaska & Yukon, via Jasper, Missoula, St George & Vegas (slight detour for several shows, in order to hit Danny's Oasis truck wash -- removing last remnants of calcium treatment picked abit north of Destruction Bay!). Will be here for a few weeks tending to RV recovery from 5 months, 9k miles of travel; plan to be in NorCalif for T'giving & Christmas.
  15. We stayed at Hoover Park for several months -- enjoyed B'ham Barons & SE conference baseball, and their fireworks shows -- but that was Mar-Jun; nice temperate climes nearly year-round! $140/wk, 100 Ben Chapman Dr (866-466-8378) -Don
  16. Tried posting our RV park (see oceansiderv.com) in Haines, AK got a fatal error from the server .., Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 13056 bytes) in D:\Hosting\11690622\html\rackforms\output\forms\hhrv_submission\lib\upload\image_upload_simple.php on line 106
  17. Wow, love the pizza & hot dog journey & stories; thanx for sharing that! Geo -- our hearts go out to you; sad that ambivalent bureaucrats don't take more of an interest in the citizens they are charged to serve! We wish you luck in persevering thru the endless BS that is our country's immigration system! We are still en route north to Alaska -- entered the inside passage by ferry at Prince Rupert BC, on 06/20, have been island hopping our way since; 17 days in Ketchikan as we awaited delivery of a warrantry-replacement wheel for one that sprung a leak -- one that was only six months old! From there, it's been about a week at each of Wrangell, Petersburg, Sitka, and (now) Juneau. Next stop is Haines, then onward to Seward via Dawson City, Chicken, etc. Safe travels to all! -Don P.s. Sorry for being so tardy in chiming in; just learned I could do this via my new iPhone! More, later.
  18. We are moving (again), heading to SC, GA, FL, AR, KS, OK, TX -- on our way to our AZ-closet for Halloween! So far, all is (mostly) a-okay; just finished our NYC visit with eldest son (plus -as always- several cousins of Fannie), then down to DC-area for a brief square dance & touring visit. -Don
  19. We are finishing up our short, check-up visit with Henry & Davena -- we are safely ensconsed at Crow's Nest in Newport, NH (down in the wide-open, FHU sites below the upper/main hook-up sites, and prior to the road leading into the river/forest sites... staying out of harm's way while they pack their moving truck the next couple days. We both plan to depart on Thurs -- we head north to Maritimes for a couple weeks, they down to FL and their new home in PSL. On (or just after) Labor Day, we can get hook-up sites and visit our son in NYC for a week or so. Safe travels, to all! -Don
  20. Tongue-in-cheek, Glynn?!? Rif and others can attest... 1 - many over-long rigs, including doubles/triples (ie, 5'ers with boat-trailer behind) travel into-and-thru Calif; 2- Q (and Pilot Knob) is well into AZ, by over 10 mi. We plan to visit for the 2nd week of RV (Big Tent Show), park near the water/dump,,, same as classes of 2007/2009 did in 2011. -Don
  21. After 3 mos in Mesa (AZ), we are finally back on the road -- heading north & east to visit: - Toledo area (my siblings, maybe see Bill & Cecil) - via (first stop) Show Low Elks, visiting friends at Juniper Ridge RV resort, - ABQ (for a case of Dolores' spicy sauce, Ralph & Linda), - Kansas (NH factory & our fogie friends near Salina), - Chicago (youngest son & Fannie's cousin), - Indianapolis square dance event; that will cover the rest of June and early July. After that, onward to (maybe?) see Henry & Davena while they're still in NH (as we still wanna re-visit the north-east of NH/VT and Maine); also, plan a couple weeks near NYC (Lido Beach county park) to visit our eldest son and see some plays. We got a late start, so will take Tucumcari (US54) short-path toward Hutch (after ABQ) - so will miss seeing Jack & Danielle via the Denver path... hope to see you guys in the Fall. Wishing safe travels to all! -Don
  22. Ditto, what Sandie & Steve said! The mileage, stability & Allison are three BIG plusses of the Diesel... you should get over 350 miles on a load of fuel! (We consistently got 12-15mpg towing, 22-25mpg when single...back in my 3/4 ton, 10k trailer days. -Don p.s. Your ins should provide "emergency expense" for a down-vehicle when it's down for a valid claim! (We recently went thru renewal exercise, Blue Sky had coverage if down even for mechanical breakdown, as well as covered claim.)
  23. Stlll "stranded" in N. Calif -- currently, Sou. SF Elks, awaiting help from the 4 siblings who took vacation in Ph. since mid-Jan... they return to SFO later this week. Maybe(?) then, we'll be able to head down/over to AZ... time will tell. We're grateful to have the health we have that we can take care of a sibling nearly 10 years younger, that we can help for a bit of time. Hope (and plan) to be at the AZ-closet the rest of winter & part of spring, once we get there -- in time for MLB spring training & end of square dance season! Safe travels, to all! -Don
  24. GREAT idea!!! Sorry we've not made there, yet -- Fannie's still on "sister duty" in SF, another week, or so (sigh;) We promise to look you up when we get to Mesa. -Don
