  1. Is that in the BLM area?!? (I had previous directions to go south on Hwy 95, 2-4 mi to the BLM location with water & dump facilities, $40 for two weeks). We're heading that way, later today... -Don p.s. Larry --- Palm Canyon looks to be about 18 mi south of Q, along Hwy 95, right?!? (We're looking for the BLM along that way, but closer in to town for the show, etc.)
  2. Well, we did not get service in Sodus -- they had other jobs in the shop, worked on those until well past noon; so we just pressed on... will get things checked down the road. Still in Toledo area, plan to leave tomorrow -- Mom is doing well in her new home, she's walked more in the past two weeks that the last 3 years at the previous Lutheran home. Heading to Jct. City for some repairs, then back to San Jose for the Dec-Jan holidays. -Don
  3. We're back to Toledo, continuing to work on Mom's affairs -- took our 3rd tour of Alzheimer's facility (with my sisters) she's now wait-listed, it seems a better alternative to SNF (staff is specifically trained on all-things related to Alz/dementia-specific residents). Picked up a goodly dose of head-cold from Goshen event, hope it clears up tomorrow for our face-to-face with Mom's doctor/nurse-practitioner (for her medical case review). Will be here until time to leave for Hutchinson... -Don
  4. We finally landed in Mesa (Sun Life), got (four) dental implants yesterday,,,, so, now, am (mostly) vegging-out with pain pills for the next few days. Plan to be here about a month -- visiting some of our fogie & square dance friends, maybe see some spring training games, etc. -Don
  5. Thanks Davena (and Pat) -- I will relay your wishes to Fannie (for Valentine's Day!!)... we've been away from the forum celebrating her B'day then traveling to Temecula for our grand-kid fix (two girls here), then onward to PHX for more of the same. BTW, this year is a TRIPLE for Fannie --- her medical insurance got cheaper (I cannot say why!). -Don p.s. The SKP co-op here is some kinda fabulous -- every site has a view; this is an amazing place to settle down... (if you can overcome any fear of twisty roads to get here!).
  6. We are in PHX (well, Tempe-Elks campground) the next few weeks -- getting dental implants (4?), finally,,, having paid for them back in '07. SOLD the Calif. house 10/06, closed 10/28, did a whirlwind of "spring cleaning" (ie, 22 yrs of stuff!). Will go back to Calif for December holidays. -Don
  7. Jim, Those Eucalyptus trees are *wonderful* repellant to most tiny critters -- ie, spiders, ants, etc. We visited this campground when our youngest attended UC-Davis; we even had a little graduation gathering there, back in 2000. Also, at our old storage lot (at Lockheed) we had a slot that backed up to a row of these trees --- never had a problem with the ants & spiders that are so prevalent around the Bay area grass lands. Give our best to Val,,, hope to see you in Octoer (?), if not sooner! -Don
  8. We are heading to Temecula tomorrow; visiting daughter's family for her elder's 4th b'day (granddaughter); after abit less than a week, heading to PHX for the other granddaughter's 5th b'day -- and a visit with RayH.... First trip out since January & the radiator fiasco near Salinas --- got real itchy feet, need to feed our Jones! Though its only for a couple weeks, maybe longer if a "hot" contract comes in,,, I'm hearing alot about work in DC area. May stop by "Snowbird West" if we learn Carey or others are still there. -Don
  9. Fannie says "Thanks" -- she had good times as we visited our good friends Fred & Nancy in their SF condo for the week; had several nice meals out "on the town", saw "Wicked" at the Orpheum, and "Slumdog Millionaire"... Nice times with good friends! Cheers, Don p.s. Sorry this post is sssoooo late; been meaning to catch up with y'all! p.p.s. Thanks to Davena, also; glad to see you enjoying southern climate & cuisine this year, for a CHANGE!
  10. We, too, had a great time in Hutchinson... left at noon, yesterday (due to TWC predictions), got 200 miles, made it to 5pm Mass in OKC, then stayed at the Wal-Mart exit 116. Sleeping last night was very quiet (nice, restful) plus McD for breakfast burrito & Sr. coffee. So, the 2-2-2 works nicely, these days --- nice change after doing 3 x 400 mile days to Kansas. FYI, we are NOW at the Airport Park COE campground outside Waco -- learned it just opened a couple weeks ago after being closed for 2 years (due to flooding). Beach-front property, hardly no one hear but for a few weekenders,,, so, maybe we'll stay an extra night... enjoying the FAST Verizon speed (nice change!@). Weather has not caught up to us, yet -- will see what the morning brings. We're due at San Marcos Tues, Kerrville Wed afternoon (for the NHOG rally), then onward back to North-Left-coast via grand-kids in PHX & S'Diego. Cheers, to all! -Don
  11. Well,,, I've been remiss in reporting our venue changes, so will catch up (in short-version only). After "aborting" our normal spring-training plans in PHX, we spent Mar thru May near Birmingham (Hoover RV Park) for a work project there. Visited David K., Christina & Travis twice -- they came up once, we stopped by for a weekend with them as we were leaving Alabama. Have since traveled thru Atlanta (Fannie's former sister-in-law), Savannah (Don's niece, Michele), Charleston, SC (Fannie's cousin & Don's niece, Toni), then NYC for son Jay, before visiting 5 days with Henry & Davena, Mark & Diane in New Hampshire. We're now (finally) in northern Ohio to visit Don's family (3 sisters & Mom in assisted living home)-- taking care of some family business for Mom, and visiting thru the holiday; our youngest son, Derek, will travel from Chicago to visit us with Mom in Toledo. After that, we need RV work done in Kansas (Horizons has some warranty work to finish), then onward to visit friends in OK and (maybe?) Jack & Danielle on our way back to PHX. We've started to take things abit slower, now; so we're not so bedraggled at every stop... BUT, gotta be home by end of July, to "visit" the house and prepare for McCloud (CA, square dance week), then October rallies in Kansas & Texas. Cheers, from the road, Don
  12. Davena & Pat --- passed along your birthday greetings to Fannie; she sends her thanks! We had a low-key celebration this year at our neighborhood AppleBee's! Ooops... forgot to mention, we stole away for a w/e in downtown SF (last night), dinner at The Boulevard -- visiting close friends (Fred's b'day is the day after Fannie's), relaxing in their hi-rise hideaway on the Embarcadero; SF weather was picture-perfect today, strolled the piers & Farmeer's Market all afternoon. Discovered the nearby pier "hosts" occasional big rigs (there were several there last night, including one race team with their "Renegade-converted" two-axle Freigtliner pulling 45' car hauler garage). Do we need to send a pic for the calendar? (Fannie advised me she ordered one back in Oct. Will send you our PHX address for the calendar, so we can receive it there.) Still waiting for the new smart's arrival; it was due the end of January, has been delayed abit. Will be off to San Marcos end of next week for the baptism of grand-kid #4 (the baby girl that was born during HDT rally); will also visit with our German out-laws (son-in-law's father, brother & sis-in-law are flying in),,, then, it's off to PHX for spring training AND (we hope) a platform for the smart. Henry & Davena -- Keep warm, we're cheering you on (Re. the Wonder Bed!) from afar!@! Best regards, Don
