  1. Some of this was actually fun to read but maybe time for this thread to end. Just back from Boyd lake one night get away, parked next to a small van conversion he liked my rig. I still charged him $2 to take a picture of it.
  2. I have the Volvo D12 with 10 speed. What I know now after driving it for 2 years; I wish for a D13 or larger and a few more gears, maybe even the I-Shift if the price were right. I still like what I have and it rocks pretty well in the mountains, if at sea level it would be fine. Keep asking questions and take many for a test drive; sometimes not so easy.
  3. Hey Big5er I just ordered one per your recommendation $77 well spent. Just good peace of mind and I have to leave the truck in remote locations for 5 to 7 hours. Don't want anything taken out and don't want anything put into my tank.
  4. Thanks Jack great details, I will build one. My RVS system has a limit of only 3 camera's a few more should work fine. I will start sourcing some CAT 5 cable.
  5. Jack can you please explain how you add more than 3 camera's to this system since the limit is three. I think you do some type of a switch system.
  6. Check out Rear View Safety, high quality products. I use two camera's and 9" monitor all wired. Camera's are night capable and have speakers.

    Value of Truck

I had my HDT appraised by Deep Space Lighting on this site. He did an extensive job and professional write up. My insurance company wanted this in order to insure the truck, my semi is a little unique (pictures in tag line). Well worth the money spent, I will use this to support my future sale if ever. Dennis

  10. Hello David, forum members recommended I reach out to you for appraisal help on my 2006 Volvo truck for insurane purposes.  Allstate wants to know more about the truck now that I have installed a slide-in camper on the deck.  The truck was a 22' box truck which I cut down to a flat bed and storage box.  Under my tag line is a link to an article published on the Truck Camper magizine 8 pages or so.  The camper value is easy to figure, the truck value not 100% sure as I paid $23,500 with 270,000 miles the truck is  not a long haul version single fuel tank, 3.58 rear axle.

Might you be able to help me with appraisal values?  Not looking for a real high value as this will lead to very high insurance costs.

  11. Hello ____? My truck price was $23500 and I paid $1800 in tax and then the $186 for the plates last evening. Only had to pay tax in Co. and that happened 2 weeks ago because I was missing a Power of Attorney document from the seller. I was the last one out last evening, so I think the clerk was just ready to get rid of me. She needed the msrp on my truck but was looking in the RV Blue book because my sales receipt said it was a motor home. Long story short the tax value was established on the sale price to me and not the 2006 msrp. Most likely in my favor, I needed good news yesterday!
  12. Congratulations on your purchase, I have been following what you have been writing. I am also in a 10 speed Eaton and learning more everyday! We should compare notes on taxes and plate fees, I was scared but came out pretty well in Colorado. Insurance is something like $30.00 per month. Now I need to sell the Powerstroke$
  13. I just completed my tags today in Colorado and will start a new thread, I had good luck. I learned a great deal and will share.
  14. How I found the truck, great question. Lots of internet eye searching and get smart at search terms and truck styles. I ended up searching for Expeditor / Hot Shot trucks and found this one with a 22' box, thought it was too long but after my measurements and storage wants it is just fine. 28" of stand up storage space next to the front of the truck (by the pipe) and then 98" of storage space under the camper overhang, these spaces tie into each other. Future, slide-in camper will be a much larger unit. I welcome crazybanshee and others in the Denver area to come over this weekend and help me cut down the remainder of the box. Have plasma cutter will cut until it is off.
  15. Ok one quick picture, see the mark up of where the box will be cut away.
  16. Quick question, I found a great Volvo with a 22' box that needs to be cut off. To date I have been disconnecting the negative battery terminal to protect the truck electronics. I am cutting with a plasma cutter which is working great. No problems yet with starting it but I thought I better ask. My truck: Volvo 670 2006 275,000 miles 22' box - Will soon load my Arctic Fox slide-in camper on the deck Lot's to learn, drove it home from Dallas, Tx
