  1. This Amazon page has everything you need to patch a small area or redo the whole roof, pick yer poison: https://www.amazon.com/dicor-rubber-roof-repair-kit/s?k=dicor+rubber+roof+repair+kit Stick with Dicor (pun int.) they are manufacturers of EPDM Rubber roofing.
  2. Unless your background check comes back delayed, then it's three days. That's federal not state. Of course that doesn't apply to private sales.
  3. Kirk, That link was already in my post above, but thanks.
  4. Kirk, We moved to Colorado, no more hot humid summer nights! Even 90℉ is fine to sleep in when the humidity is 20%, sometimes less, give or take. We'll do short trips, not necessarily just weekends, we are retired you know. But as long as we are tied to a Stix n Brix never more than a weekend or week. Even with Ring video security which we already have, we like to back it up with our other .40 cal wireless security systems. Seriously though once our old pup leaves us, we are fine with longer airplane trips.
  5. Oh we know. We've been retired since I was 45 and we moved into our 36 foot HitchHiker fiver and did seven years of full time RVing. We loved every minute. No job, no Stix n Brix home, we just followed our noses seeing and meeting North America one person at a time. Stored our family flicks and pics, antiques and collectible heirlooms with Kids and parents. We bought the Fiver used and had bought the 1 ton Ram dually truck six months before in preparation. We did everything West of the Mississippi, and from Mexico up to and including Alaska. We both grew up in the world as military brats, her brother born in France, I went to kindergarten and first grade in Bogota Colombia S.A. in Spanish! Then we did 27 years USAF including eight years in Germany (yes we spoke German there too) Both of us lived in Florida as Kids and in the Northeast for my teens in the 60s. We traveled all of Europe on three day weekends and winters used all my 30 days of leave, and three day weekends to Ski all the best slopes in Austria, Switzerland, France, and one in Italy that started in Zermat Switzerland, around the Matterhorn, and down to Cervinia Italy. We dove the Red Sea for a week in 96 for our open water certification, then visited the Temple of Karnak, crossed the Nile by boat and saw Tut in his tomb. We are not done traveling, it's in our blood. So while our next adventures will be to do Australia, New Zealand, and Japan/China/India, and all that tentatively for now, we will have another RV. We started in our early 20s with a VW pop up Wesrphalia camper bus then a bare bones Coleman pop-up camper pulled by our Subaru Brat with camper shell. We hated the popup so I restored Seven VW campers. We winter camped in one in Colorado in 1979 and decided that winter camping with canvas walls up top wasn't for us. But we used several more VWs ending in Europe with our US Spec Eurovan. Then we moved into our first fiver, and after seven years switched to a 28 foot Sunnybrook fiver, and a Scamp until we sold it a few months ago before moving to Colorado with two Subarus, a new Forester and a 2006 Turbo Baja I had the engine rehabbed and replace weal head gaskets, timing belt and turbo. I'm already thinking of the new VW camper if they ever sell it in the US. But with AWD. In other words, we haven't lost the itch, we were literally born to travel. Don't worry, we aren't ever going to be done. Safe travels my fellow travelers on spaceship Earth.
  6. Snow Gypsy wrote: "Never consider an RV an "investment". There are more buyers for that $40,00 5th wheel when you decide to unload it then the $150,000 one with some time on the road." I totally agree.
  7. It's time for the big semiannual Windows update as opposed the the monthly cumulative updates. However, unlike before, this one is smaller and fast which is good news for full-time RVrs and folks with limited speed Internet connections. Now if they just get it right the first time? Excerpt: "Microsoft is now getting Windows 10’s November 2019 Update, codenamed 19H2, ready for release. Also known as Windows 10 version 1909, this will be the smallest, quickest Windows 10 Update yet. It’s practically just a service pack. We’ve updated this article with the latest features up to Windows Insider build 18363.418, which Microsoft said was likely the final build on October 10, 2019. A “Less Disruptive Update” With Fewer Changes Microsoft’s John Cable explains that this update “will be a scoped set of features for select performance improvements, enterprise features, and quality enhancements.” In other words, expect a select set of bug fixes, performance tweaks, and a handful of business features If you’re sick of big Windows 10 updates every six months, Windows 10’s November 2019 Update (19H2) is the update for you! Installing this update will be more like installing a standard cumulative update like the updates that arrive on Patch Tuesday. It should be a small download with a fast installation process—no long reboot and purging of old Windows installations necessary. Computers with the May 2019 Update (also known as 19H1) installed will get a small patch via Windows Update and quickly update themselves to the November 2019 Update (19H2.) This will likely arrive sometime in November 2019, as the name suggests. With Windows 7’s end of life looming on January 14, 2020, Microsoft clearly wants to avoid a repeat of last year’s buggy October 2018 Update. It’s already out there and being tested. As of September 5, Microsoft says every Windows Insider in the “Release Preview” ring has been offered Windows 10 version 1909. A year ago, Windows 10’s October 2018 Update was released without any testing in the Release Preview ring at all. On October 10, Microsoft said Windows Insiders in the Release Preview ring already had what Microsoft expects is the final build" The details, with screen shots and hot links are in the full article here: https://www.howtogeek.com/437112/whats-new-in-windows-10s-19h2-update-arriving-fall-2019/
  8. Excellent! Thanks. A must read for new to RVs people trying to decide. Makes me want to sell the new house and take off again. My SH does not want to full time RV any more, but does let me play with one for weekends.
  9. Kirk, That tweaked my memory. It was more than ten years ago I believe his name was Barth Bill here on the forums. The rest is personal stuff for our friends here, and long, so the folks here who can't read easily, object to more than three lines, or not friends can stop now. I'm about to close the sale of our Louisiana acreage, house, and outbuildings, in the next couple of weeks, and can finally move back in with my babe in Colorado. It took two months to sell and after sale another month to get to closing. I was surprised it took more than a week to sell! The first couple over 40 that saw it bought it, the others couldn't qualify. Since we are moving you can see all the pics of it here: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/755-Princeton-Rd-Princeton-LA-71067/109810803_zpid/? We had 30 Amp, water, and sewage with the Macerator pump next to the shop, and did 2X6 walls floors and roof on concrete foundation. Walls floors and roof, dual pane windows double hung, ⅝ residential sheet rock, hardyboard house siding, 25kw water-cooled natural gas auto switching backup generator with a Mitsubishi engine, all granite counters and Corian sinks in the bathrooms, a giant shower with stone walls, and a gun cabinet in the master closet. We made a home but it was only until we were through helping out our two then one remaining parent. Finally done with the South. We'll only miss a few friends, my good friends are all dead but three. We are updating our new to us Colorado home for keeping or selling, as we just wanted out of the heat ASAP, I got to thinking about what motorhome, if we got one, to handle the salt residue up there in winter. Barth came to mind because of the all aluminum cabins and roofs. But we are fiver drivers so will hold our water until we've been there a while. Anyway, I just finally sold my restored vintage Ford 601 WorkMaster tractor with dirt scoop, grader and box blades, and boom. That was the last major item I needed to sell here. Earlier I sold the Scamp Fiver, the Ram diesel long bed truck, the HHR with Flames on the front, and traded in the 2015 Elantra on my new 2019 Subaru Forester. Lynda wanted a Subaru but since she kept her contractor table and compound miter saws, nail Guns and pancake compressor, she wanted a Subaru Baja. They were discontinued in 2006. It's like a shrunk down El Camino with four doors, a back seat with a pass through hatch in the bed front behind the rear seat, and a bed extender: https://www.vehiclehistory.com/report/subaru/baja/2006/photos I bought her one that was like new inside and out but with the high mileage we had it resealed with new water pump, head gaskets, valve cover gaskets and new timing belt, as well as a new Turbo. It flies and does all a city person needs in a pickup. But the fuel mileage is terrible in the Turbo with 17-22 mpg tops! We are likely going to replace it with a Tesla Model 3, or a used Model S two engine AWD. Then just a small trailer we can tow with the Forester. Lots of change. That refurbished Barth in my above link for $23k got me to thinking about them. Since no one here uses one I'll just wait until we've settled in before we decide on a Class C, or B, or motorhome. I'd rather have a vintage fully restored rig, rather than new or run of the mill motorhome. One like the Barth, Lazy Daze etc. So we'll table that for now.
  10. You might also have your background check come back to the selling FFL as delayed, in which case a three day hold is placed on the sale. If there is no reply/denial then you can pick up the gun after three days. https://www.fbi.gov/services/cjis/nics/delayed-firearm-transaction I worked the last three gun shows here in Bossier City with my friend Bob who is an FFL. He did paperwork on all transactions and did get one background check delayed at the show we worked just last weekend. He told the guy to pick it up in three business days to be sure. It does not mean you have serious problems with your background, just that everything was not immediately available.
  11. Yep. It may go lower but the Marijuana stocks and ETF are all way down. They may go down even more. Can't time it perfectly.
  12. Well, my Marijuana stocks are worth about half of what I bought them for. A friend who went in just sold at a 65% loss because he bought high! Just a word about my philosophy about long term investments. Like Tesla, which I bought in 2010 on IPO at $17.00, and two more buys within months at $22.5 - $24.00 I ended up after selling some up front to get my seed money for 15 X my investment, this one will look like a dog for the first two years as I mentioned elsewhere here. If one looked up TSLA full price chart the first two years did nothing. Just like ACB and NBEV are doing now. But watch us in two years. I could be wrong but I believe they can weather the initial doldrums well. Follow these to see if I win or lose within a couple of years. As I always say, don't play with any more than you can afford to lose. They look like dogs now.
  13. Currently there are lots of retro and vintage RVs experiencing a resurgence. The Barth is pretty unique among motor homes and they still have a big following in smaller numbers. Barth's are pretty much all aluminum cabins siding and roofs in their motor homes. Here's one for sale for ~ $23k http://www.tophrestorations.ca/barthregal31.html#more Here is the fan website: http://www.barthmobile.com/ "Barth was founded by Bob Barth who started building all-aluminum travel trailers in 1963. Barth built motorhomes from 1973 to 1998. Barth also built some Class-C motorhomes and travel trailers. The 1970's and 1980's Barth motorhomes are primarily on Chevy P-30 chassis with a Chevy 454 engine. They range in size from 22' to 35'. In the 90's, Barth built several lines of diesel pusher motorhomes with Caterpillar, Cummins, and Detroit diesel engines. They also built gas units on Chevy and John Deere chassis. The units are well built with a metal frame and aluminum riveted siding. Sort of a boxy version of an Airstream. Barth, unlike some RV manufacturers, didn't include the bumpers in the length." Source: http://www.viewrvs.com/motorhome/barth/barth.php I just wonder if any SKPs own and RV in one. They are definitely an interesting vintage RV, of that I'm sure.
  14. If you are into the vintage RV interests, one all aluminum brand motorhome is much beloved, the Barth. I'm going to post the info here in this forum, so as not to post it twice. But here is one restored and for sale ~ $23k: http://www.tophrestorations.ca/barthregal31.html#more
  15. It's confusing enough to sort through the claims of all the "sales" people, and owners. But I believe one thing remains true. They will not tell you which one of any type to buy, but will help eliminate the bottom 50% in their ratings. That is worth it in addition to the extra information about weights etc. that are included as well as website members only areas. If you haven't been to their free pages go here and read around. https://rv.org/blogs/news Safe travels!
  16. I am a Vizio fan and based on my bias last year I bought the new then 65" 2018 65" P Quantum. I do not regret that decision, so now we have three Vizio 4k TVs: A 2015 best TV of the Year Vizio M-65, a 2018 Vizio D series 4k 40" TV, and our newest a 65" 2018 Vizio P Quantum that we had to wait for on sale for $1499.99 or so. We had owned one of the early very slow 40" TCL TVs which had an OK picture, but sloooow remote and terrible menus. So last year when Someone here on SKP forums told me the TCL was better for much less, I laughed. However once I checked, the TCL 6 Series Did indeed beat my M-65 but except for some high end specs you can see in the list below, I will say that the TCL 6 65" has better built in streaming and dang near the same picture quality as the Vizio M Quantum, for close to the same price. But for LED the Vizio P quantum tops the list. For just a bit more, you can get a 2018 or 2019 OLED with a best picture over the P Quantum for $1800 - $2399.99. Confused yet? LOL! 18. I posted about this in connecting on the road. The article I used is here:https://www.howtogeek.com/413566/why-android-users-need-windows-10s-your-phone-app/
  19. If you work online the "Your Phone" App is probably old hat. But it is new to me as I've been operating in a vacant house with WiFi and utilities, a borrowed TV and inflatable mattress, since we moved in late May. I plan to spend a day learning it once we settle down. You can find it as the last entry when you click the start button in Windows 10. Click "Start" and scroll to the bottom of the list. Excerpt: "Windows 10’s Your Phone app links your phone and PC. It works best for Android users, letting you text from your PC, sync your notifications, and wirelessly transfer photos back and forth. Screen mirroring is on its way, too. Android Users Get the Best Integration The Your Phone app is a powerful and often overlooked part of Windows 10. If you’re an Android user, you can use it to text right from your PC, see all your phone’s notifications, and quickly transfer photos. If you have the right phone and PC, you can even use the Your Phone app to mirror your phone’s screen and see it on your PC. Unfortunately, iPhone users won’t get any of that. Apple’s restrictions prevent that level of integration. iPhone users can set up the Your Phone app to send web pages back and forth between their phones and PCs—but that’s it. Don’t even ask about Windows phones, which Microsoft gave up on long ago. Texting from your PC, transferring photos, and syncing notifications all work right now on current stable builds of Windows 10. The screen mirror feature is only available for some Windows Insiders right now, but they should arrive for everyone soon. How to Set Up Windows 10’s Your Phone App The linking process is simple." For complete instructions and screenshots to set it up go to the full article here: https://www.howtogeek.com/413566/why-android-users-need-windows-10s-your-phone-app/
  20. Thanks for thinking of me C! We already got two new Z3s free as an upgrade for both of us. We have the Mods for them that project a 50" picture for movies etc, the JBL Speaker mod, and two battery mods that do wireless charging. The Z3s have only one major drawback, no mini phone jack, they also can't wirelessly charge without a battery pack that can. They also can do real 5G when available with a $199.99 mod that is really bulky compared to the thin phone itself. I am done with Motorola only if the Microsoft Surface Android Duo phone is decent quality and around $500 - $1000.00 but if they are more, which is likely, then the Z3s we have will do fine for another couple of years, they are running Android 9. I still have to figure what I want to do with our two Moto Z Play first Gen phones. They are still pretty awesome phones, with two day batteries and headphone jacks. But no built in wireless charging. Have to use the battery pack mod for wireless charging. However they fast charge in just a few minutes to 50% and full in under an hour. So all night charging is not a habit anymore. Wireless charging was great on the Lumia Windows phones we had and we still have the charging stands that also held them upright for hands free at bedside of desk. But for folks that don't have the Z4, the Z3s are great phones with a full day's worth of battery, and that is a great price for a premium phone. Motorola is clearing out the remaining stocks of Z3 accessories cheap now too. So we're keeping the Z3s until Windows Android debuts. We love Surface products and as soon as we're settled in I'll be buying the new Surface pro tablet and selling my Pro 3 i5/128GB/4GB/128GB micro SD card support and Pro 4 i7/256GB/8GB/256GB micro SD card support. I have typecovers, and the Microsoft Surface dock and five power supplies I bought bulk from an Amazon return outlet here for a couple bucks each. I've been using the Pro 3 and dock/with wireless KB and mouse for the last few months getting our Louisiana house ready and now sold, hope to close on the 25th and be "home" before Halloween. In other words we are Microsoft/Surface centric. Jack if you're reading the Duo will do all your Android stuff. We both loved the Windows 10 mobile tiles for our phones launcher and are using the Squarehome App on our Z3s, here's a shot of my Z3 imitation Windows launcher. The tiles act exactly like the Lumias did for sizing, moving, and the all apps slide out tray swiped in from the right side. That App made the Android phones tolerable. Anyone who had and loved the Windows phone interface will love Squarehome. https://squarehome2.blogspot.com/ Safe Travels bud!
  21. Thanks Dennis! It ain't over until the check clears in my account. The title company called and said it should be quick as our properties are all paid for. We already sold the inherited home on 3 acres, and this with five now. I'm going to have my work cut out for me in figuring the best way to put the money to work. The only splurge we have in mind is a Tesla Model 3 two motor all wheel drive. Fitting because we are still working off the gains in our sold Tesla stock. When I had the septic system guy come out for a pump and state required inspection, I saw that the tank was filled way beyond where the float should have cut the macerator pump on. So on top of the cost to pump and inspect it, I had to buy a new pump and float and pay labor. Had it been another week it would have overflowed. So rather than queer the deal it worked out great, albeit a small extra expense of a few hundred dollars. I'd hate to get a nice new to us house only to find the septic overflowed right after I bought it so I am fine with taking care of it. They are a really nice couple close to my age and I'd hate to be the cause of a panic when I know the system well and the right folks to deal with it for me. I can look myself in the mirror so far in this life without excuse, I like it that way.

    junk mail

Thanks for the link age! I forgot to renew it for both our new and old addresses to eliminate mail forwarding of junk.
  23. Thanks Roger. I did not have any issues on my Surface pro or Lynn's Lenovo All in one touchscreen system. Some are reporting issues: "The KB4524147 Cumulative Update for Windows 10, version 1903 is causing the Windows Start menu to crash with a critical error according to numerous user reports. KB4524147 was released yesterday as an out-of-band security update together with a standalone IE Cumulative Update and some monthly rollup updates, and it is designed to address a printing issue plaguing all supported Windows client and server versions. The printing issues experienced by Windows customers were triggered by the September 23 Security Updates or IE Cumulative updates that patched the CVE-2019-1367 security vulnerability. While Microsoft says that they are not currently aware of any issues with this update, users have been reporting having their start menus broken [1, 2, 3, 4] after installing KB4524147, as well as still experiencing issues while trying to print using several printer models [1, 2, 3, 4]. Start Menu error (Chaori) Uninstalling the cumulative update Since Microsoft hasn't yet acknowledged the new start menu issues and an official workaround is not yet available, uninstalling the KB4524147 CU should fix them. Before uninstalling the KB4524147 Cumulative Update, you should know that you would also be removing mitigation for the Internet Explorer scripting engine security vulnerability (CVE-2019-1367). If you are willing to trade a security downgrade over a functional Windows Start menu, follow the procedure described below to remove the KB4524147 update. Microsoft says in the update's details from the Microsoft Update Catalog that KB4524147 can be removed "by selecting View installed updates in the Programs and Features Control Panel." The step by step procedure needed to uninstall this update requires you to open Control Panel, go to Programs > Programs and Features, and click on View installed updates in the left sidebar. Next, right-click on the KB4524147 entry in the list and confirm when asked if "Are you sure you want to uninstall this update?". Next, you'll have to click 'Yes' when asked and then restart your device.
