  1. I upgraded my iPhone last fall to a 5G capable unit. Made a trip from Central Oregon to Louisiana and back. Only time I had 5G was in Grand Isle, LA and it caused problems for the phone. Couldn't call in or out without disabling 5G and using LTE only. I do have Verizon. As noted above, 5G for us travelers is a ways out yet. Lenp
  2. I believe it is more of a liability issue. A shyster lawyer could have field day in court with this. Juries are gullible! Similar to Les Schwab's policy of not replacing pads only - they will only replace the entire caliper. Again, I believe it is a legal issue. Lenp
  3. TNC, not sure I would want to ride my Ultra up that ramp. Might also look at the Rampage lift. https://www.rampagelift.com/ Lenp
  4. Check the ground connection(s). Both trailer and truck. Find them all and clean them up! Don't ask how I know that! Lenp
  5. We made it home on the 20th (two days before the DEEP freeze hit Central Oregon). Hustled to get the MH unloaded and winterized the next day. Today temp was in the 50s so decided to take a look. Took the top cover off but couldn't see anything obvious. Took left (drivers) side off and again, nothing obvious. Added a few quarts of oil and fired it up. Once again oil coming out but this time (with covers off) easy to see it was coming from the filter! I had checked that the filter was tight when we were in Arkansas and it was. I got my BIG channel locks and gave it another half turn. Fired it up again and now even more oil coming out than before. Replaced the filter and all is good! I suspect the filter was probably overtightened when I had it serviced resulting in the gasket being squished too far. Amazing it lasted several months before leaking. A close look the the gasket shows no sign of a failure or anything. That Onan oil pump was really pushing the oil out - must be a good pump! Could have easily fixed it on the road but did not want to chance an oil spill in a campground. Glad I waited though due to a large amount of oil got into the space the generator pan and the slide out pan it sits in. At least here I could wash it out without fear of a campground owner getting PO'd. Thanks for all the suggestions! Much appreciated! Lenp
  6. Ray, I will have a look when I get home. I don't want to mess with it in a RV park. Just my luck i would think I had it fixed and put more oil in and have it all over the ground again. Might not get to it right away with the cold weather in Central Oregon but will advise if/when I figure it out. Thanks for the input! Lenp
  7. Thanks for the input. Have a camera at home and will try that first. It is on a slide but even when slid out the side panels appear to be blocked by the slide frame. Looking at the service manual there is crankcase breather tube running up the side of the block - wouldn't surprise me if it broke or came loose. Bought a Honda 3200i to get us home. Hopefully won't even have to use it but just in case we get stuck somewhere in the weather between Arkansas and Oregon we are prepared. Lenp
  8. Stopped in a parking lot for a break and a cup of coffee Friday. Started the generator and it ran for a minute or two and quit - started it again and it quit in a few seconds.... Went out to check it and discovered a pool of oil under the unit and NONE on the dip stick. DARN!!! Crawled under it today and dropped the filter inspection cover and all looked dry but the entire bottom of the unit is saturated in oil. It will still start and run (but I only let it run a couple seconds due to no oil - I wanted to make sure it hadn't thrown a rod or something). I am assuming there is an oil line or breather tube on the side of the block that has come loose but it looks like the entire unit needs to be removed before the side panels can be removed. That will have to wait until I get home around Xmas time. Any thoughts on what I should look for? Thanks for any thoughts/suggestions. Lenp
  9. Farmington's San Juan County fairgrounds has a LOT of sites with water and electric (50/30 amp) at $30 a night. Quiet and right off (alongside) US 64. https://campgrounds.rvlife.com/regions/new-mexico/farmington/san-juan-county-fairgrounds-mcgee-park-12094 Lenp
  10. Lou, I had not checked the coverage maps. Even without coverage in Brady I am still satisfied with what I have received. ] Thanks for checking the maps! Lenp
  11. Quick update..... We have traveled from Central Oregon to Texas (Hondo SKP park) and have used this device at every place we have stopped EXCEPT for a two day stay in Brady, TX. It has performed well everywhere EXCEPT Brady. Stops included Burns, OR; Winnemucca, NV; roadside rest 11 miles south of Ely, NV; Delta, UT; Monticello, UT; Farmington, NM; Albuquerque, NM, Big Springs, TX; Brady, TX; and D'Hanis, TX. We have been able to stream, browse and email everywhere with the exception of Brady. Typical speeds were between 15 & 50 Mbs - more than adequate for what we do (TV, browse and email). Brady was the exception. Phone showed five bars and LTE but we could not connect to internet with the Gateway OR my iPhone hotspot. So far I am a happy camper! Lenp
  12. Linda, here is a link to support for the device: https://www.verizon.com/support/verizon-internet-gateway-ask-ncq1338fa/
  13. Thanks for the feedback! Verizon rep talked about deprioritization. He indicated I might encounter it if I had the entry level "unlimited" plan but with the upgraded plan I should not encounter it. We shall see! Plan to leave Central Oregon heading for Louisiana in a couple of weeks and will put it to the test. Lenp
  14. Anyone using one of these Verizon devices? I picked one up earlier this week and so far, so good. Great speeds (50-60Mbs). Supposedly unlimited data with their $60 data plan. Anyone else using one of these devices? How about experiences with their unlimited plan? TIA, Lenp
  15. Concur with what Kirk said but another possibility is low voltage on the parks electrical system during the hottest part of the day when everyone is trying to cool down. Low voltage equals higher current draw which could be contributing to your problem. Suggest you monitor the line voltage at the park pedestal. Lenp
  16. Just returned from a 8000 mile motorcycle ride (Run For The Wall) and had to use Escapees Road service twice for the same issue - a defective valve stem. First time was a Sunday in Lusk, WY. Called Escapees Road Service number and had the Harley on a rollback within an hour and headed to Casper, WY (100 miles). Dropped the bike at a motel and waited for Monday to arrive. Would you believe NO ONE available in Casper to replace a valve stem on a Harley on Monday! Called ahead to Riverton (120 miles) and found Wild West Powersport who said they could and would repair if we got the bike to them. Called Escapees Roadside assistance AGAIN and they had arranged a trailer to haul the bike within an hour. Unfortunately, it took nearly three hours for the trailer to arrive. We did make it to Riverton in time (4:30PM) to have it repaired. Kudos to both Escapees Roadside assistance AND Wild West! Could have been quicker but that was not the fault of Escapees. Lenp

    Patriotic Volvo Trucks

    And the final two....
  19. I just returned from my Run For The Wall (RFTW) this year (after two years of canceled runs). Every year the Southern Route visits the town of Wytheville, VA where the city comes out in very large numbers to greet us. The Volvo truck factory is just a few miles away and they have historically displayed their patriotic rigs for us. This year was no exception! Thought you guys and gals might enjoy them.......................... Lenp
  20. There are a few Forest Service campground (no hookup) on the east side of the park (on the way to Cody). My 40' MH fit easily into the first one out of the park (Newton Creek if I remember correctly). It is 14 miles east of the east entrance to the park. Was nice taking the car back through the park. Check out: https://www.forestcamping.com/dow/rockymtn/shos.htm and look for campgrounds around Wapiti. Lenp
  21. Before you go to far.... what is your battery condition? A low battery will prevent the furnace fan from running fast enough to trip the "sail" switch allowing the gas to flow or the igniter to fire. Lenp
  22. When I sprung the leak at Fort Bliss it was not the PEX that leaked - it was one of the fittings (an elbow) in the PEX. Was not a big leak, just a drip, drip enough to get the compartment wet. Lenp
