TxCowboy
I've been to his club on Beale Street in Memphis a couple of times but never got a chance to see him in person. He'll be missed by those of us who love the Blues. RV_
I saw King live back on active duty playing while sitting in a chair at an outdoor night concert. A great talent following closely Percy Sledge who lives an hour from here and my personal assistant and friend was his drummer for many of his 1990's European tours. I never did get to see them play as I was covering his duties and mine when he went for a week. It sure makes me feel old when I outlive my favorite comedians, actors, and especially musicians. But we have their recordings, movies and TV specials to reminisce. RV_
"Riding With The King" Video with Eric Clapton and BB King if you have the bandwidth very worth seeing. Kind of his autobiography, and he says in it that when a child he said, "I'm gonna play this thing, until the day I die." I am going to miss hearing Lucille. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajJBmcuzktw#t=15 RV/Derekhttp://www.rvroadie.com Email on the bottom of my website page.Retired AF 1971-1998 When you see a worthy man, endeavor to emulate him. docj
We were fortunate enough to have been able to see him perform several times over the past couple of decades. The last time it was clear that his skills were beginning to fail but we'll always remember how he sounded in his prime. RV_
It was strange seeing him perform while sitting down too Joel. I am glad he was on the planet at the same time I was. Along with many other talented geniuses. RV/Derekhttp://www.rvroadie.com Email on the bottom of my website page.Retired AF 1971-1998 When you see a worthy man, endeavor to emulate him. wa_desert_rat
A tough loss, that's for sure. He left a legacy though, in recordings and other musicians inspired by him. I agree that it's been nice living in an era where so many talented performers flourished and their performances are so readily available over the Internet. RIP Blues Boy.
