Wanderin
I made a thing today to shade my batteries. No shading anything here. Weather is perfect. I think it was about this time last year everyone started complaining about the heat too. I also think that was about the time I got to start bragging too. The only wrong with summer weekends is that every place you are at, there are tons of other people there too. The only time I can get decent internet is early in the morning. oh oh another data base error. "There appears to be an error with the database." I wonder how many times this will post or if it will post at all. I also wonder if Escapees will ever get it fixed. steved44
We are camped here at the Kewadin Shores, casino RV park in St. Ignace, MI. We toured Mackniac Island and had lunch there at the Grand Hotel. Quite a place! They say it has the longest pourch in the world. No vehicles allowed on the island, so it was all bicycles and horse drawn vehicles. I got all the exercise I needed!! Beautiful weather in the 70's and blue skys. Such a relief from the last couple of weeks. Sandie & Jim
I sure wish they would get this forum fixed. It's really frustrating. We left the driveway!!! We're in White Sulphur Springs, MT tonight. We'll be in Helena tomorrow. Anybody coming through Montana - you'll want to avoid Highway 12 through central MT. Road construction was horrendous. Today it was 40* C (double it and add 30* = 110* F). No relief. Even the air-conditioning can't keep up. Interesting. Do you know that we have the smoke and haze from the fires in Arizona and Colorado? We all were worried that with the hot weather we had our own forest fire, but no. It's come all this way. Tonight I hear from my friend in Terrace, BC, way north of here, they have it too. Jeri, we can move our peg for 2 days when we go to Vancouver next Wednesday. We are finally going to meet our newest grandchild - Wren - born last December. Hugs to all. IYQ
Nice to see all the post despite the data base error on the forum. The weather here is starting to get back up into the 90's again but the monsoon has started so relief isn't very far away. I went to Wally World today and bought 4 pair of work pants to replace the bunch I've been wearing with all the holes and stains on them. I had to wash the sizing out of them before I could wear them. They came out of the laundry looking worse than the ones they were to replace. I've never seen such a wrinkled tangled mess. The legs twisted like a barber pole. The older clothes came out wrinkle free and looking pretty good except for the holes and stains. I think I'll buy a tin cup and some pencils and stand on the corner wearing the new clothes. I'd probably make a fortune. rmcf308
Lee, don't you know you will be in style no matter whether you choose the old pants with holes or the new ones with wrinkles! Well, we have signed a contract on the house and we will be outta here on August 1   . We will still be in Ga until the end of the year but, plan on heading to Florida for awhile in Jan. Homeless has a brand new meaning and it sure feels good and what makes it even better the new folks are buying all the furnishings we re-bought for the house! So that means a clean get away.....can you feel the weight lifting?? Even the excessive heat feels pretty good right now!! Happy Trails All! IYQ
Jerry and Janice, Hurray, congrats on the house sale. It couldn't happen to better folks. It's trying it's best to rain here, There is thunder and lightning all around and just before dark you could see rain falling in every direction but so far all we are getting is noise. It has cooled down to 86 after hitting 100 today. The other day I had the RV repairman clean the dust out from under the shroud on the Air Conditioner. It sure helped. At one time today there was a 24 degree difference between inside and outside temperatures. I took a little ride this morning out west of town to the Savoy truck stop and had lunch. It's an old style truck stop and the food was very good. I'll have to remember that some evening when I'm hungry. The Wind just kicked up and I've got the trailer hooded to the truck to go to the RV shop tomorrow morning to have a new step installed. The trailer is rocking so bad I'm getting sea sick. And it finally just started raining. I guess I'll put this computer away before one of those lightning bolts decides to fry it. steved44
Today was a rough day of travel. We (I) got off to a bad start just moving the truck. Seems there was a post just behind me on the passenger’s side……. Took the right mirror off when I backed up to leave. Hmmmm I did have some black duck tape and made a field expedient repair….. Next, while we were packing up to leave, I guess I was trying to do too much at the same time. I told the wingard satellite to go down and then was making coffee and microwaving something. Well we were on 30A and the breaker on the pedestal tripped. I went out and reset it and forgot the aqua hot was still on in electric mode and it tripped again. Then I finally did an “electrical assessment” , turned off the proper things and got the damn coffee made. Wellll, I forgot that I had been lowering the TV satellite when all this was going on and when the power was interrupted the sat was not all the way parked. I did my walk around, and it was far enough down that I didn’t see it peeking over. Fast forward an hour or so….. We made it through customs without being arrested and headed to HY 17 to drive out of town. Guess what, a one way street going the WRONG WAY! We had to go around the block and there were some low trees on that street, but not low enough to bother us. NOT! I knew my CB antenna would brush the trees, but it made more noise than that, but we were in heavy traffic and I couldn’t get out and check. A while later the sun was shining from behind the bus and leaving a shadow on the road ahead, I noticed something on the roof that shouldn’t be showing. We pulled into a gas station and checked it out. and the antenna was partially up. It must have been up just enough to catch those branches. It was dented pretty bad and later when I tried to put it up, it went up, but would not find the satellites. AArrrrgghhhh ! Anyway we made it to Sudbury, and are licking our wounds in the Walmart Parking lot. Press on East tomorrow. sandsys
I got tired of Escapees saying there were no new posts to this thread so I decided to click directly on it and here you all are. Sure glad to finally read everyone's news. Sounds like it's all good except for the heat many of us are experiencing. My good news is my van arrived inTexas a month early. My not as good news is that didin't move me up on the conversion schedule so it will probably still be mid October before I get it. I am so ready to start traveling again. Wanderin
Arrrgh! I guess you could say a lot more than that, Steve. Congrats, Linda, on the new vehicle finally arriving. Maybe by October they'll even have the Escapees forum up and working right all the time ... maybe. I think the best thing to do is what IYQ suggested a few days ago. Manually jump to the next page that isn't showing. That's the only way to get to the most recent posts. Right now 138 is the last but 139 is almost full. Eventually they'll get it fixed .... won't they???? Quote Just Wanderin' On a permanent vacation! http://blog.willywagon.net

IYQ
My new trailer steps arrived and were installed this morning. I had gotten so use to them wobbling around when I stepped on them than now when I go out the door and step on the solid steps, I about trip cause I still wobble but they don't. After I got back from the RV Repair, it was still early so I took the truck in to have it serviced. Now I'm all ready to go somewhere to cool off but the weather has turned fairly cool here. As long as I've already paid for a full month I may just stay here as long as the weather remains bearable. Steve, I think I'll buy some stock in the satellite TV sector. You better stop watching television before you go broke. But I do sympathize with you. I have more of those senior moments than I care to tell about. I wore my wrinkled pants today and 3 old ladies chased me down the street with irons in their hands. The last time that happened I went out without my shirt on. rmcf308
Thanks all, maybe we can get back on the road soon but I may need a little help from everyone! Seems Dear Hubby has become accustom to "WORK" again and may need a little nudge from" yu'uns" to get him back on the road. My timeline for ending work was Dec. 31, 2012,(that makes 1yr. of work) now that date seems to be waivering a tad bit to extend this contract. "" Under the terrms setforth there was to be NO negociating this date as of the release from the home anchor clause. Release from this contract was to be free from all house responsibilities to include no repair work, no utility bills, no lawn maintance and no honey do's." Ok, so you all get my drift. All work and no play makes Jerry a dull boy ......sic him JERI!!! All help would be greatly appreciated. The tires on the bus are starting to dry rot!!!
