Remove and replace firewall airline plate

Recommended Posts

Not sure what to call it, other than the plate on the firewall that a lot of airlines go into and through. Drivers side.

I've replaced the o-rings and some lines, but one will not stop leaking no matter what I do. I'm thinking that this junction place needs to be replaced. Not uncommon for Volvos. Apparently, other brands have brass replaceable line connections... not Volvo. Bummer

Any help with how to attack this fix would be appreciated.

Is it all from the firewall side? Or do I have to pull the under part of the dash appart?

Work is from both sides, I recall drawing a detailed map of both sides.

Then labeling things with masking tape, next step was removal.

The under dash things on my 06 were not extensive as I recall.

While your in the vicinity, there are some ground lugs just above the pass through under the hood, that should be inspected and cleaned as necessary.

I was very apprehensive before I got started. I made quite sure I had everything written down, inspected, photographed, and memorized.

The job itself after I did that much preparation was relatively simple.

Just take good notes and photos, work patiently, and you can do it.

Did it also several years ago.  As Michael said, wasn’t that difficult that I recall and all my friends will tell you I’m not very mechanical.
