Qwimby1
Does anyone know what it's like there now? There doesn't seem to be much current information online and what little there is looks like there are a lot of drug and trash problems. I was there 15 years ago very briefly but didn't stay. Loners on wheels had a fairly big operation there then, and it looked to be pretty well organized. From what I can tell now, it might not be a place I want to spend any time. jonbushsr
Search for 'The Slabs' on Youtube. There has been a lot of vlogs posted by various visitors over the last year; judge for yourself. Jon
travelinbob
The one and only time I was there I could not wait to get out of there. While there I did see a police patrol car driving through. 2006 Elite Suite 36TK32001 F-550 Starhaulerwww.mytripjournal.com/elitesuitestravelsIN GOD WE TRUST
LindaH
Here's a recent article: http://www.kpbs.org/news/2015/apr/15/will-slab-city-remain-last-free-place-america/ "But that freedom is getting more tenuous. The state is considering selling the land. Talk of the sale has spurred some residents to organize and take a leadership role. They’ve applied to buy the land. That frightens others who believe landlords, government and rules will follow, all of which run counter to how Slab City operates. They say it could destroy the “live and let live” philosophy of the Slabs." LindaH 2014 Winnebago Aspect 27K 2011 Kia Soul
