vrainsmd
We are planning to spend a month on the Oregon Coast from about mid-May to mid-June and would like to get a monthly rate for an RV park in the middle of the Oregon Coast. We just got a new to us DP (our 1st DP) that is 45 feet long so I know we are limited as to where we can stay. Since we are from the West Coast we have seen the Oregon Coast many times but never tire of it. However, this will be the 1st time we sit in one place and site see with our toad. Do you have any recommendations as to where we should stay? Also are there some little known gems to see that we may have missed in the past? Rosita
I haven't stayed here, but I know some people who have recommended this place: http://www.woahinklakerv.com/ It's not on the beach, but close to Florence, and offers easy access to many attractions and activities. W7SDR
I would suggest Whalers Rest near Newport OR. Its in the center of the coast giving short drives to many locations. Has frisbee golf and miniature golf within the park. Hosts a breakfast on weekends. Large park and real space between sites. Dick
BooneDocks
We enjoyed our one month stay at Pacific Shores Motorcoach Resort in Newport last June. We booked our stay through this thread that appeared last year on this forum. http://www.rvnetwork.com/index.php?showtopic=110232&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 Presently MotorHomeLessFollow Our Full-Time Travels Through Our Blog
budeneighe
Hard to say with no more info about your preferences than you have given. However, We spent from April to October 2014 working our way up the coast from Arcata to Astoria to Sequim, Wa. We spent 4 months at Premier RV Resort in Lincoln City, OR (mid may - mid sept 2014) and that was the best place we stayed overall. They have a spa and keep the place immaculate. It is 2 blocks from the beach in Taft (South end of LIncoln City) and above the highway so you have some limited views. It was built for Motorcoaches but all kinds can fit in there with some juggling. That coastline is some of the very best from California to Washington. nearest WalMart is Newport, 22 miles south but there is a good Safeway in the north end of Lincoln City. The KOA there is not too appealing. There is an RV park we really considered that is over east of 101 a few blocks and up near Safeway. it is called Devils Lake RV Park. There is also Logan Road RV park across the side road from Safeway. My personal ratings on these parks in this area are 1. Premier RV Resorts 2. Devil's Lake 3. Coyote Rock (on the river) 4. Logan Rd RV park 5. KOA or Chinook Bend RV Park. About equal in my opinion. But, moving on, Woahink is flat. There are a lot of ATVerss because it backs up to the dunes (Lots of dunes). it is probably a mile walk (if you could walk that far in loose sand) across the dunes to the ocean. Nice folks and conveniently located on US101 but little else around there. Here are the places we were on our trip up the coast: We intended to spend the winter in or around Port Orford, OR, but there really is not much there if that is what you like. Brookings was maybe OK but the best CG we found was up the river on the east bank. That was fairly nice with big spots right on the river. Most of the CGs around Brookings were on hillsides and cramped, though. Turtle Rock, in Gold Beach is OK, big Sites and about a 1/2 mile to the beach walking. Here is a link to our blog with our route and stops. http://rvbuddys.blogspot.com/2014/09/back-to-blog-for-bit.html?utm_source=BP_recent Bandon was interesting. Bandon by the sea was OK. Nicer than Woahink and Bandon was more picturesque. Astoria, while not on the ocean, was striking and we really liked it. It was like a mini San Francisco. Lots of movies have been shot there, like Kindergarten Cop and Goonies. Of all of the places we visited we found more interesting venues there than anyplace else. We stayed at the Lewis and Clark Golf RV Park while we were in Astoria. (Cash only) but quite nice. If you were not dedicated to coastal Oregon, I would recommend Hiouchi Hamlet RV Park. it is 5 miles east of Crescent City, reasonable prices, good sites, level and best of all it is located right next to the east entrance of the Jedediah Smith Redwood State and National Park. it is by far the best redwood forest groves I have seen and i have been in all of them in California and Oregon. Weather is better year around than in Crescent City, too. if I had to pick just one to spend a month in this summer I think it would be Lincoln City Premier RV park. Second to that would be Astoria Lewis and CLark Golf and RV Park. TreyandSusan
Woahink (OK)- just as Budd mentioned above, nice and beautiful if you like Sand Dunes - not great verizon service at the park. (no 4G) About a 1/4 mile north good 4G. Lewis and Clark Golf RV Park (nice folks and nice sites) Hiouchi RV Park - (Awesome place) as Budd mentioned Redwood forest hikes are amazing. (now one of my favorite places in North America not because of the campground - it is OK but the forests are beautiful) Barview Jetty County Campground - lots of sites with some pretty large (a county campground with lots of families) weekends may be tough but right near the ocean and a beautiful beach. A great place but may be tough to get a month Budd gives very good advice. newadventurers
I would reccomend this rv resort in beautiful Pacific City. it is near Tillamook. While we haven't stayed here ourselves. ( We are going full time in 7 weeks). I have stayed in this town many times. It is quiet and quaint. The rv resprt is accross the street from the most beautiful beach. http://www.capekiwandarvresort.com/ Terry and Lindsey and our Border Collie Daisy Mae 2008 Select Suites 36 TK3 2015 Ram 3500 Laramie Longhorn Crew Cab DRW Fulltimers since May 20, 2015
Dollytrolley
We own 5.6 acres on the East side of the Wakonda Beaach State Airport, 3 miles South of Waldport (18 mi S. of Newport) and our property overlooks the Pacific and Beachside State Park. We pull our toy hauler into our 45 X 30 ft Lexan greenhouse and then enjoy the forest and beach. We love the Wakonda Beach area since it has SEVEN miles of white sand beach and great small town feel (Mayberry)...... Some years ago I did Biz Development work for the Siletz Indian Tribe at Lincoln City and had oversight at the Logan Rd. RV park for the tribe. Logan Rd RV park at that time was very nice but I have not stopped by for a few years, but it is still likely well kept since it is very popular with repeat gamblers at the Tribes Casino just a short don the hill near the beach. Enjoy the coast.....we do... Chris-n-Dennis
City of Newport rv park provided you get into one of the end slots inland. Of course if you don't mind the barking of seals, then an end slot near the rip wrap. The sites aren't anything to write home about but it is a central location, very close to all amenities (Rogue Brewery and Rogue Distillery) and if you want to try your hand at crabbing, the muni pier is within walking distance. Whaler's Rest is an excellent, inexpensive park as well. Your timing is pretty good as it is before the season really kicks off so weekender traffic will still be a bit on the low side. There are some smaller parks all up and down the coast to consider as well. Port Orford comes immediately to mind and at the time you are looking at, may be emptying out a bit. NINK
We'd recommend Port of Newport RV Park, if you want to be in Newport. We stayed at Heceta Beach RV Park in Florence and liked it, but that park may be a little tight for a 45' RV. They do have some sites that are back to back, so perhaps you could use two spaces???
