  1. Well, I'm not on the road yet but I'm packing. We leave Friday for Texas where my van is supposed to be ready Monday. Dave will stay down there until we feel OK about me being on my own then head back home. I have planned to have no plans. I want to be free to feel my way into this solo traveling bit. Forty-five years of togetherness with the last five of it being 24/7 will make this be VERY different. So I have made NO commitments other than coming home next Spring. Linda Sand
  2. The RV Driving school has changed ownership. Not sure the BBQ will happen now that Dennis is not in charge. I may have missed my chance. Linda Sand
  3. Sandie, You do know there are wheelchair accessible fishing docks, right? Nothing keeps a good man down. Linda Sand
  4. I won't know until I actually get my new rig and spend some time in it. I haven't driven much the last four years so don't know how far I can go between naps. And I have to test my boondocking limits to see how long I can stay out. So my answer is a big MAYBE. Linda Sand
  5. The map has been playing games. Every now and then it converts a character to some foreign one with an accent or umlaut or something. Then it deletes everything after that character. This time it was IYQ's entry but Dave doesn't think it was anything IYQ actually did wrong. Except putting in coordinates that say he's in Mexico. Anyway it should all be working again. If you are having problems it's best to send Dave an email as he rarely reads Escapees now that he's housebound again. But, once notified, he usually fixes things very quickly. You can contact him directly at sandsys at gmail dot com. We both check that address at least once a day and usually more than that. On a totally different topic, I finally got a delivery date for my new RV. October 29th. Two weeks to finalize everything I need to do here and be ready to hit the road again. Linda Sand
  6. Hi Peggy, I'm Linda and my other half is also David but more often known as Dave. We full-timed starting in 2008 for just over three years. Now Dave is anchored in Minneapolis and I am about to begin solo snowbirding. My new RV is currently being converted from a van to a motorhome in Austin, Texas, and I am due to pick it up sometime late this month. Don't know what I'll do then. I was about to say my Dave may be the only truly sane one of this bunch but then I realized choosing to spend winters in Minneapolis doesn't sound very sane. Linda Sand
  7. So sorry to hear about Dave. Glad to hear Millie is well. It always scares me a bit to hear of this happening to a solo RVer; hopefully he was camped near friends. Linda Sand
  8. My sympathies to you and all your family. Linda Sand
  9. Freeze warning here tonight. Is it a good or bad thing that I don't have my new RV yet? Linda Sand
  10. But Sandie and Jim didn't have any more choice than you did. They are there because Jim's doctor said so. Since we all want Jim healthy, we support that decision. Linda Sand
  11. Dave said someone put in the map an accent mark or a pound sign or something and that broke it. I don't know if the fix he implemented means doing that again will or won't break it but I thought I'd let you know what he said. Linda
  12. Tell Terry we are all here for him if he needs anything we can provide. We're here for you too, of course, in case you need an outlet outside the family. Linda Sand
  13. If you want to take Jeri's dimes you have to learn to win at Spades. That's her game. Linda Sand
  14. Gotta get that travel timing right-- leave too soon you have to go back too early. I don't get to pick my leaving time this year; that will be determined by the timing of my RV build. After that though, I get to figure out how long I can be home with Dave without getting caught by weather. I suspect that will be my biggest challenge in the next few years. Linda Sand
  15. If I make it that far, I'll probably spend some time at Q although I may hang around more near Parker. Sidewinder works, too, if I stop off at Q on the way to and from Parker. But, I may stay in Texas all winter depending on how this solo bit really goes since it doesn't require nearly as much driving and I didn't even like riding through West Texas. Linda Sand
  16. That's another reason I'm glad I'm getting my RV; no more having to sit home while Dave goes to operating sessions in our only vehicle. Linda Sand
  17. All those hours driving to and from Texas to finalize plans for my new RV and I get home to discover I designed my desk to fit over the dually wheel cover so there's no place to put my feet! Back to the drawing board. Linda Sand
  18. We're on the road! Sort of. We're RVing! Sort of. We drove our car to Texas to finalize plans for my snowbird rig. We are now driving back to Minnesota. LONG drive for a 3 1/2 hour meeting but we accomplished so much in that meeting it was probably worth it. Now I just have to stay sane until October when we make the drive down again to pick up the rig. Then Dave gets to make the drive back to Minnesota alone and I get to Go RVing! Linda Sand
  19. Yes, please send money. Got a new RV to pay for. Non-traceable, of course. No sequential numbers. Wrinkle them up well before sending. Linda Sand
  20. So sorry to hear you are having to deal with this. I was one of the lucky ones that didn't get hacked but the fear until I was was cleared makes me understand just a tiny bit of what you are going through. Linda Sand
  21. Hey, I translated about half of that and understood a bit more from context. Not bad since high school was a LONG time ago! Linda Sand
  22. It's not the age; it's the computer. I am NOT getting old. OK, maybe I am but it's still the computer! Linda Sand
  23. Don, So did you buy a place with a small house or will you still be living in your RV when parked on your acreage in Mesa? Either way sounds like the right choice for you--and maybe some of the rest of us. Linda Sand
