  1. Yep! EMS-PT50X is what I got! Was on sale at Camping World last week, $313 shipped and tax. Don't buy from Amazon! They have sold me two of these that were open box and missing parts! And cost more! Funny thing about these. They do a 90 second or so test before the power flows to your RV. I thought I was having trouble with my panel as every time I hooked up it took me about a minute to get inside and another 29 seconds to notice no power and I'd give it a little kick at exactly the moment it timed out and went one! This happened like the first 10 times I did it! One time I got in sooner and the kick didn't work for another minute. It was only then I discovered my kick did nothing and that's how it's supposed to work!
  2. Considered it.... but with recent events I am DONE as much as possible with made in china!
  3. Hi, if you're unawares Honda has places a stop sale on this model generator due to what I understand to be circuit boards tin/zinc whiskers due to environmentally friendly lead free solder. No recall yet as rep I spoke with said they are trying to determine which circuit boards are affected. Hopefully solved soon but is there a good option for a quiet rugged generator that holds its value? Some like the Harbor Freight Predator series but I'm not a fan of most of HF's products. Thanks!
  4. Hi, I requested my new RV be upgraded to two new AGM batteries but forgot to push real hard in negotiations. I requested them as part of the deal but on second thought can't recall the salesman's exact response other than "fresh batteries". It has classic Interstate 12v wet batteries now. Is there an advantage one kind over another? I've been lead to believe the AGM are superior in every way. I have a feeling when I get to PDI there will be the same old Interstates... Is that a deal breaker or if they stand firm should I just take the deal and move on or buy the AGMs? Thanks!
  5. Hi, Almost there on new RV! It occurred to me that so far it has only been conversations. I was sick during the critical week of negotiations and could not get up there but since we agreed on price we're just moving right to PDI. Seems to me they'd want to make sure we're on the exact same page before going to the trouble and risk of "he said; I said". It's a much bigger risk for them. That's a lot of effort prepping an RV for PDI. Ever run in to a situation where you and the salesman disagree on what was promised and next step is sign the papers? Thanks!
  6. Thanks! It seems a little daunting at the moment. While I am 90% sure I'd chose Texas domicile and may even move back there I have not decided 100% and any issues are probably flagged but too many such moves...I'd have to at least get to El Paso for a DL this week.....
  7. Hi, The Airstream I'm considering I thin has 50 amp service as it has two ACs. I wouldn't normally spec those but that's what it has. I've not used an RV with 50 amp before and not sure what I need to know. I "think" I can still use 30 amp BUT run only one AC at at time. Can I simply get 30amp <-> 50amp adapters and plug my 50 amp cord into a 30 amp service pedestal? I assume a 50 amp surge protector but how will that handle 30 amp service? Anything else I need to know? Thanks!
  8. Hi, I figure this a question that arises in anyone who finances an RV. If I follow though on my current plan I want to finance for 20 years BUT can afford to and planning to pay off in 6 years or less. The 20 year plan are payments I can make in my sleep; would have NO impact on my CURRENT situation. I like the security of not having to stress BUT still strive to pay off in 1/3 the time. The 72 month plan still fits in a reasonable budget being ~10% of my take home and still below my "play money" allotment! The 72 month plan would work because I'll no longer be collecting guitars and gear and books and other "toys" I indulge in. A lifestyle switch would mean no impact on current monthly bottom line. Since my APR is rock bottom 4.25% choosing an actual payment plan of 72 months doesn't save me any more compared to a 20 year paid off faster. Having a small payment is kind of an insurance policy if something goes sideways or I want to take off the summer and not work as hard.. But this seems so simple it seems everyone would do this! IF I REALLY intend to pay triple payment per month and follow though...are there any pitfalls I am not aware of? I'll check to see what penalty if paid off sooner but a previous 5.75% apr quote said no penalty. Thanks!
  9. I'd just be changing address... Same account for 5 and 10 years.... I guess that IRV2 thread was a horse of a different color involving transfer of funds. I'd love to use a family member but only two left and the one with wits about her is in CA and I don't really want to make CA my state of business
  10. Yes I confirmed the taxes even out. I think if you paid 6% and new county is 6.1% you owe .1% I didn't know it works the other way though! Registration is the bear! $1500 in AZ and no refund. I could physically move to Texas the next day and still have to pay Texas registration and zero credit as far as I can tell. I think the way I heard it last year is the dealer has to actually cartage the RV to the state line. You can't buy and drive home to pay registration...Don't quote me; from memory... With all the conflicting information I'm hearing I think a trip to Livingston the best approach and do it all in person. Thanks!
  11. What a nightmare! So is everyone who's full timing using a family members address? What's the point of domicile and the entire Livingston SKP's arrangement?! There has to be a way to legally bank and not have to own/rent property or rely on relatives for addresses...
  12. Do you have domicile in TX or just using the PMB service? Seems like I could just start with the PMB. My bank seemed to have little concern about domicile; they just need an address. I could plan a little wiser about the domicile...maybe even chose another state eventually. I like the FLA health insurance deal but that's that much farther if I have to be present any length of time...Although I do have family in S. Alabama and Gulf Shores even...
  13. Shoot.... I don't have that option. Too tangled a web what with insurance etc...
  14. Lease in AZ will be up soon. May go full time or just travel for summer time. Makes no sense to retain current rental or even assume another....Most likely be "houseless" for the summer, maybe longer.... Thanks!
  15. Hi, In and buying new RV in AZ. Considering domicile move to Texas. Buying new RV has AZ registration rolled into price and I won't get a refund. Since I'm an AZ resident with AZ DL I'm sure they will want to register the RV in AZ and be a struggle to say I'm moving to Texas next week... I suppose IF I had a TX address I could work it that way but taxes probably get flipped over as well.... Gosh it seems it could be a couple $1000 if I do this wrong.... Any suggestions on how to proceed? Thanks!
  16. Well as mailing address for most things yes...but.. I need an address for my business. I can't seem to find any PMB's in AZ that would act like the ones Escapees set up in TX, ND or FLA....It may very well be those states only...
  17. Thanks, Yes current AZ resident and my business is based here. I do like AZ and would spend most time here. I have a UPS box BUT I can not use that for banking. I can't seem to find a service that provides addresses for banking... Thanks again!
  18. Thanks! I always see TX, ND and FLA "promoted" but is that only because Escapees has a "presence" there that streamlines the process? I'd just as soon stay in AZ but want to take advantage of an "address" I can receive mail and do my business out of. Being 2020 I do ALL my business online so simply a formality to satisfy my bank. I get confused on the Escapees offer, makes me think it is only TX, ND and FLA that offer this or is it that they offer the best options? If I wanted to retain Pima Co. AZ as my domicile location and have a legal "address" for mail and mail forwarding is there a service I can use that would set me up to assure my banking is not effected? Or do not all states allow such domiciles? Thanks!
  19. That's one way to run a business, cut prices to the bone and live on volume! What do you do with a $900 scratched exhaust? It's not worth $900 any more.... you'll be losing on this one. But of course you can't look at each sale as a make or break. It's about the inventory. if you sold 1000 of those pipes you simply spread the profit/loss among that batch. That's how I do it. If I spend $1000 on 50 gems and intend to make $100 of each; sell them for $120 and make 50 rings BUT then break one of the gems. I don't lose $120 I lose ~.40ยข per unit as now I only have 49 to sell. In fact I haven't lost anything because some of those gems are better than others. I can sell those for more and even lower prices on the lesser and even lower on much lesser. Once I'm down to just a few I blow them out on sales. SO I have to figure this all into the price of each one. I can't sit there at the end of the year crying in my beer that I'm gonna lose $10 on the last one...... Plus it goes into taxes as loss so is off set a little bit. If I never sell it I over estimated...that's my problem. A successful business, as you sound like, does not sell at a greater loss than they can afford Period. There's nothing I can do to force them to sell to me at a loss......until we reach a point, which we almost have, the push and pull can continue and THE LAST thing I'm concerned about is how much the dealer made off of me.... I just negotiate in good faith and good humor.
  20. Hi, Edging back towards full time. Tried it last year but got bit on a couple things most painful being banking. I have a UPS mailbox and was unaware I can not use this for a banking address. At the last minute I discovered my business banking did not transfer over and had to impose on a friend to allow me to use her address. If I proceed this time I have 3 months to decide. I have more questions but curious how others are dealing with banking and running a business and if Texas is friendly towards that? I'm Bank Of America and like the way they support my business. Also what's the transition? Can you still have a brick and mortar address in one state AND domicile another? I want to make the change as seamless as possible. Thanks!
  21. My Apologies Kirk.... I was on the defensive due to other issues. I'm happy with the price. IF everything is as-is I'll proceed. This dealer has weird tactics though. I was out of contact for almost a week and had not heard back. Figured we were done. Called and requested deposit returned. Sales manager wanted one more shot and came back with current offer which surprised me! I was suffering allergies and under heavy Zyrtec fog and said sounds good but I need a few days to clear up. I said that's what I was after though and we're on a razors edge of moving forward. Next thing I know I'm getting "congratulations on your new RV!" emails, date for PDI all set up! I go to have another look at it the other day and they have it pulled from stock with my name and "sold" on it.... Oh well...I'm still in the maybe phase no matter what they think. I've been up front and ready to deal but have not aid anything more than "very close".
  22. That's a tight budget... You must figure ~$1000-$15000 into that in necessities like a hitch and surge protector. Water filters high on this list and some sort of waste disposal system a must. You may be able to do well with used items. You didn't mention your experience with RVs but I can say there is a learning curve no matter how much you learn here! Something WILL happen that puts a kink in the experience! My heater went out in January but in mild AZ at the time. Brand new RV! No one could help me! Everything I tried... THEN I got the nerve to pull it apart and since ducted heating dog fur had blown in and got stuck in the sail switch! Pulled it out; put a mesh in front of inlet, no more problems! I won't try to talk you out of it! Life is full of risks! There's just a few more with RV life it seems. Nothing that can't be overcome but need to be seriously considered, especially the winter weather concerns in the north. Best of luck!
  23. Etsy doesn't have this requirement as I recall. LOTS more than hand made. I see used car parts so..... Good luck!
  24. Sure...And I'm not demanding anything. It's hard to ask such questions without sounding entitled. Ya gotta buy 1 or 2 before you can buy 5 or 6! Same owners and I'm in the system. Sat down with sales mgr and he entered my phone number and my full record was at hand. BTW the price I'm offered is the same you can get. They have come off that sticker number less than $1000. It's not like I came in and was offered 30% off. It was already over 28% off.....and based on negotiations the small discount I have been offered came late in the game so I surmise nothing to do with being a repeat. I suppose I don't understand the RV business. Unlike other items I assume they must figure there's a limited number of sales they will make so buying more than 5 or 6 more rare
