  1. Thanks! I'll be in CA for ~3 months; at an RV park run by friends so can probably keep the trailer off the radar but fear CA will be looking for any excuse to charge for anything so have to see how local LEO will be watching me in town. As I said a few years back in San Diego I had my AZ plates and got hassled within a month of daily driving on one main road. They'd seen me and I assumed they pulled me as much for that as the brake light infraction since I was not fined.
  2. Hi,Research convinced me this is a good device so dropped $150 on a basic unit.Unfortunately the website and instructions leave much to be desired. After much research it seems like it gets installed like this (after disconnecting power and propane etc): Please see images for clarification. One is the "block" I reference as-is and the other I drew wires. Drawn wires from APRV. Drawn red is the disconnected 12v supply from battery.1. Remove 12v battery supply from connecting block.2. Connect 12v battery supply to red wire on APRV3. Connect yellow wire from APRV to where 12v battery was connected on block.4. Connect ground from APRV to ground on the connecting block, leaving the trailer ground connected too.5. Connect twisted wires from APRV to sensor.6. Install sensor as described. It's as simple as routing power through the APRV which is a smart switch.Does this sound like the proper way to do this?I have a Dometic fridge. Thanks
  3. Hi, Friends run an RV park in SO California so I think I'm gonna head over there June 1 and wait and see what happens next. About 5 years ago I was working on a friends house in San Diego. I got pulled over for no 3rd brake light. I had AZ plates as an AZ resident out for the summer but the cop had seen me up and down this street for a few weeks. I recall being hassled about being in CA with AZ plates for that long and I was supposed to retain CA "citizenship" after 90 days or some malarkey.... Ever run into this? How long can we usually stay put in a state before they want us to "sign up"? Thanks!
  4. Hi, I'm curious if anyone has tried one of the health share systems for interstate travel? Seems like a good option, if inexpensive enough, to the in state requirements for many of us not prepared to change domicile... The one I'm investigating doesn't seem to have location requirements that I've found. Thanks!
  5. WOW! 80/20 is SUPER cool! I can ,make something from that! Thanks! Website is a bit confusing. Have you ordered directly from them? Thanks so much!
  6. Sorry yes. I corrected the text. Top is fitted to fit perfectly along the curve of the wall, I have considered angling the legs making the distance from the wall shorter....I just don't like the look. Being an Airstream a couple of nice aluminum posts/pedestal would look better. I've found some by Todd for boats but most seem to require using a hole saw to take a big plug out of the floor and I'm not sure I want to commit to that....not sure what's underneath the floor... . I guess like an aluminum or steel base I could permanently secure some round posts into would be what I want....I've found plastic and more complicated bases but nothing I can confirm I could secure permanently...and they are expensive so... a gamble.. Thanks!
  7. Hi, I have an Airstream and want to install a table that goes along the back wall. I have a nice too that I have cut to fit the corner radius's. My problem lies in the fact the walls are curved so but having trouble fitting the squared table leg units I have (Imagine a pair of H shaped leg units the exact width of the top). When pushed up against the side wall, on the floor, it leaves a ~4-6" gap at 29" up. A pair of heavy duty pedestals would do the trick but I can only find light weight ones that are removable. I'd like to find some that are solid units that have wide bases and tops. i'm not having any luck finding on line and drawing a blank. With C-19 going around and living far from a Home Depot going to the hardware store is a hassle unless I can identify the exact parts I'd need and get in and out. Any idea? Thanks! BTW I tried the Airstream Forum and those guys are less than helpful. They either don't answer such questions or make jokes and tell you you're an idiot for having an idea they don't like.
  8. Geez! Take it easy man! It's a daunting task to work through all these zoning issues and where to live options! I'm sure the OP gets it you can't buy a vacant lot in a suburban neighborhood and plant and RV on it but even some rural counties have arbitrary zoning laws that make it hard to work out. I'm kinda like the OP in that I have no idea where i want to settle down! I get itchy feet every 6 months! So an RV/Trailer makes sense and allows me to move about until I fall in love with one particular place. Nomad! Researching as OP about a permanent ownership plot. While Escapees offer a wealth of information it is geared towards a specific clientele and lifestyle. Many of the SKP co-ops have long waiting lists requiring deposits. Park living isn't for everyone and seems geared for a certain personality. One thing to check for short term is Craigslist for RV parking. I've found some decent deals in some high rent areas. Coastal So. Cal for instance for <$1000 month. That sound like a lot but consider a nice safe, separate parcel of land in a region where rents are upwards of $2000 a month! Mild weather goes a LONG way! I even found some cool farm land spots that allow working off if you're good with tools and/or livestock. As per rig. I went with an Airstream which is not as popular with the crowd here BUT I got it for ease of towing and the incredible amount of light and air they provide. I still work and love the wrap around panoramic windows! I drag it effortlessly with a Toyota Tundra which is a great street truck too. No desire for a Class A or B or 5th wheel
  9. That's NOT gonna work! You can't mold plastic like that. Maybe metal but those don't hold well.... More I consider it may be worth $20 for a few for my cowboy shirts and jackets.....At a certain point the effort to improve costs more than the danged expensive gadgets!
  10. Hmm... $20 worth of hangers or buy a new rig.... 😄
  11. Let me guess... you're driving a Class A... or a 5th wheel... Try it with a trailer and a slight rise and fall is enough to some zero gravity effects. I've had it happen at 20mph or less when you can't judge the country road. It also depends on where the closet it. My last trailer it was far in the back behind a single axle. There's a reason it's illegal to ride in a towed trailer and it's the same reason that can launch clothes of hangers... Supposedly a constant 6 on the Richter scale earthquake too...
  12. 😄 All it takes is one good whoop-dee-doo to knock them all off.
  13. Hi, I found some RV coat hangers (Lynx Stay Put) that grip more of the pole but cost more than $1 a piece. In the scheme of things RV not that much of an expense, it would cost me ~$28-$35 to stock up but I'm counting down to a June 1 lift off and counting pennies at this stage. Are there any alternatives to these? Thanks!
  14. They are very good generators. probably top of their class but a bit more expensive. I had one for a while and was not using it and had a buyer so instead of letting it sit around sold it. They are quiet, powerful, easy start and reliable. It was just under a stop sale BUT that's now over as I bought a new one today! It was a very simple fix. Seems some left the factory without a dab of dielectric grease and insulation pad... That's what I was told anyways. The should be on the shelves as soon as local stores do the fix. BTW I always default to sporting goods or RV stores for these as they seem to be on sale but I tried the local Honda shop and it was even cheaper! $940 and set up for free. As for used...they have had a couple recalls. First one was a small possible fuel leak and this second the simple issue I explained above. You may not get those taken care for free if needed if not original owner. Should be a list of serial numbers that require the fix on Honda website. New ones come with 3 year warranty.
  15. Yes it's confusing because you are contradicting everything the SKP's and lawyers have told me. I have found NOTHING about having to have a second real physical address. I think you're misreading the FDIC document. Your link and quote is found under the heading: Customer Verification. NOT customer ADDRESS verification! The bank simply has to identify YOU not you actual residence! Once they have YOU as in SS#, DL, Voter Reg, Bank Accounts I don't think they care too much about where YOU are. They have red flagged typical UPS mail boxes more out of the database that has them zoned non residential despite having a physical address. They KNOW you can't live there. In fact the entire FDIC document you provided deals exclusively with NEW accounts! As the one who initiated this thread I did not ask about opening new accounts. I don't recall that being brought up except by you. THIS is why it's confusing..... For what it's worth I ran a scenario past my bank saying that, and much of this is true, I will be moving out of my house and traveling this summer on an business tour. I want to get the SKP address and wait and see where I end up in ~6 months when tour is over. They said "no problem". An insistence of a physical address did not come up in their response to me. Back to my initial question was simply are there other states that allow the SKP type physical mail box or what ever it is? Specifically AZ. This appears to be a state law issue.....
  16. Sure BUT Escapees provides a PHYSICAL address....as you say in your post....Should not be a problem..... Without full information yet my bank said it shouldn't be an issue... This applies only the SKP addresses. I'm not sure how it works.
  17. I'm a renter so once I move out of current place on June 1 I'll have to have something....Like I said I'd just as soon keep it in AZ for now but it doesn't look like there's a good option for mail service that my bank allows. Current events may make the Texas option tricky that soon too if I can't get out there to set it up. I know I can do a lot via the mail but seems being present assures accuracy. I wonder why more states don't take this free income option? AZ would be prime as so many CA residents would shift over! Even with relatively high fees nothing compared to CA!
  18. Well I understand the Escapees mail service IS....Those in TX, FLA and SD.
  19. Hi, Are TX, FLA, SD the ONLY states that allow remote domiciling? While I'm leaning towards Texas being an AZ resident who just paid registrations and have a business here it would be simpler to keep AZ but I know of no Escapees like mailbox service that allows banking, acts as a physical address.... I don't want to draw attention to myself by flip flopping around and keeping AZ would simply register as a change of address....I think... Is there as way to make any state a domicile state without having an actual residence? Thanks!
  20. Hi, With all the closing parks I just saw that Tyson Wells in Quartzsite AZ will be open this summer for displaced RV'ers. FRom their FB page: "Tyson Wells R.V. Park in Quartzsite, AZ will welcome campers for the month of April. We normally close for the summer, but for campers needing a place to stay you are welcome to stay with us. Our monthly rent is $175 + metered electric" You know as much as I now so give them a call for more info.
  21. Thanks! I found their web site which seems designed in 1990.... Impossible to figure out....
  22. A temperature activated switch doesn't sound too complicated. Imagine that...lives at risk and they're bickering over money! Where's Jonas Salk when ya need him!
  23. I recall reading about this last year when RV'ing but never got around to studying it. WHY doesn't Dometic have such a device installed in every fridge and if not it seems that they should be held liable for each and every RV fire when there is an issue and a cure?
  24. I'll take Mexico, Thailand or Bangladesh etc ANY DAY over china! Last month I was at gem show in Tucson looking at some Chinese turquoise. They had somehow routed little worm tracks in the gems and filled with copper. I deal in turquoise and have never seen native copper in turquoise much less and inclusions like than in any gems (my qualifications: MS in geoscience and been in gem trade since 1992). I questioned them at length and 3 or 4 of the sellers assured me "all 100% natural just out of the ground" which I knew was a lie. To prove it I noticed one that was made in the same fashion that had a Chinese symbol routed into it filled with copper! When confronted they stuck by there story "all 100% natural just out of the ground ...except hat ONE". All the while smiling and nodding heads. Dressed to the 9's trying to look like honest business men...Business 101 in china! The next time I deal with an honest merchant from china will be the first time! I love the people and the historic culture. I have many friends with Chinese ancestry. I am referring to the current communist business practices.
