  1. Chad, my experience with the owner has been the same. Very quick to help. We (still) like our system. Works as advertised. Bob
  2. Had my antenna up in the wind, rain and sun for 3 months. So far, do good. I am going to paint it white however. On summer days when it's 100... I can't see a black case with electronics and a sim card inside feeling really happy.
  3. Yup. How many trailer wiring problems have we fixed for people only to find these things all over the wiring, under the bumper or inside a tail light. So many waisted hours....
  4. Those appear to be tabs... they are part of the insert.😒
  5. The battery drain was the reason I bought the plugs with the on-off switch. Yes on the wires. I cut the wires that came with the new sockets and put on male/spade ends which slide right into the factory female plugs. Didn't want to alter the truck side or use vampire clamps.
  6. Today...new windshield. Wow. Can actually see out again. How cool is that.
  7. I am filling the holes, with switches imprinted with 'fire lasers', 'shields up', 'photon torpedo '.
  8. Understand and appreciate the input. The actual load from before mentioned items + 2 phones charging will be 14 amps. So the stock 20 amp fuse could handle the load, no problem. I will keep an eye on it. Again, thanks.
  9. Got really tired of hitting those power plug adapter for the GPS, XM, DashCam, etc. when moving in and out of the cab. And there's not enough of them to start with. Soooo, I decided to figure this out and fix it. First off, I found that all the plugged in stuff I have runs on 5v DC. Exactly what comes out of USB power port. Nice. Some digging around on Amazon and eBay uncovered some nice power socket replacements that will fit into the existing holes with just a 'titch' (...that's a technical term) of enlarging. I used a dremel but sandpaper would work just fine. I ordered a new, standard power port and 3 power port replacements that have 3 USB ports, on-off switch, and one reads out the truck voltage. All glow blue so easy to see at night. And I found USB cables with the proper ends on them for the Garmin, Dash Cam and XM radio. I pulled off the top dash cover that reveals the main fuse and relay blocks. With a few screws and clips the front center of the dash comes off. After enlarging the two existing holes and hole-sawing the third one.... you can install the new ports. I decided that I did not want to vampire clamp onto the existing wires in the dash to interface with the new plugs, so I cut the wiring that came with the plugs and added new spade connectors, that would fit nicely into the existing truck plugs. I had to make a pigtail that would service two power ports with the addition of the third port. Double checking that the hot leads were proper (in this case RED is B+)... Things were coming together. I did replace the stock 20amp fuse for the dash plugs with a 25 amp just to give this a bit of headroom. If all sockets USB sockets were in use, it would be 18 amps under full load. Snapped the lower plastic in place. It's held in by the two clips on the top, like most of the dash things are. And wa-la, new ports with a fairly clean install. That should clean things up nicely. One can never have too many power pluggy-things. This was a 2 hr project.
  10. Any idea how I can pull this plastic switch panel out? It's above the drivers position.
  11. I did the same with all my lights. Glad I did. 3 plugs, 4 bolts and the rear bumper is off. Had to replace a brake/turn signal light, 3 mounting screws & pull the plug. Took longer to build...paid off already.
  12. Rick: Just dropped back in on your build thread. Really nice dude! Noticed the cabinets behind the drives. Mine are there as well. One side has 2 rollout drawers for tools and fluids, the other a generator on a rollout tray. Being behind the rears, lots of movement!. More than I would have thought. Tools are scrambled all over the place. I'm having a hell-of-a-time keeping the generator anywhere near its mounting location. Now have it ratchet strapped down. It's doing better. I built a set of brackets to put mud flaps between the rear tires and the cabinets. Probably not needed but now having run through hours of rain at freeway speeds, it does protect the cabinets from the deluge of water and rock chips. I did similar side skirts to yours, and used cardboard as well, to make the template. Had it water-jet cut. Didn't get them installed before we hit the road last Sept. Now, back at home base, they're getting primed, installed and headed to the paint shop in Feb. (if the snow will stop for a while...and maybe get above 30 degrees). The hood of our truck is getting fresh paint as well. Badly sand blasted. Bet you can't wait to wrap this baby up. I sure am on mine.
  13. My thought for posting this as I did , was based on states needs for revenues from their public land. You are spot on with the agency stuff. But if Wyoming, for example, sees Utah making a buck with their land use change, Wyoming might just follow along.
  14. Seems YNP is doing major upgrades to their CGs. They really need it to accomodate the larger rigs, etc. The visitor pressure on NPs is staggering now.
  15. Thanks for finding that extra info. I've been by there when it's busy. There's aLOT of campers out there.
  16. If this works out for utah (and it will) other states will follow. https://drivinvibin.com/2021/12/06/willow-springs-trail/
  17. Thanks for the input everyone. If we end up with a rig that has the second bathroom, we'll probably nuke it. Unless the rig reveals some issues that would make us sell it, it will be something we will keep for a while. The rig we have now is a 2004 that we purchased used in 2006. So we tend to hold onto to things like this and get our moneys worth. The next challange is finding a rig that is between 36' and 40' with 3 slides, that doesn't have a crappy kitchen layout and built between 2014 and 2018. The search has begun...
  18. Looking for thoughts on a bit of a major revamp to a future toyhauler purchase. Most (used) units we are looking at have a 1/2 bath in the garage area. This seems to become the wall for the TV and maybe fireplace in the living area. We do not want or need a second bathroom. So, thinking about just ripping that out...the entire wall and bathroom...and creating storage and work desk space. My question is... Do you think this will negatively impact the resale of the TH? I'm wondering if anyone really uses the second bathroom? I guess if you have kids, maybe it's valuable. But we're retired and don't need it. The space is more valuable to us. Hope this makes sense.

    Tire stortages

Good heads up. The Class A next to us here in the campground has a 150 class toad. In the bed are two 90% tread steers for the MH. It's their ace-in-the-hole while traveling. So question.... If the dealer says "ya, we don't have any (Mitchelins, BFG) but do have...." Which other brands should we either consider and/or stay away from for drive tires?
  20. And the Jake's are nice to have. Takes the stress out of those more 'interesting' downhill runs.
  21. This would be really helpful. As much detail as possible please.
  22. Big thanks. We're headed to the east valley side of Phoenix. So, the mountains it is.
  23. We're headed to Phoenix from Holbrook. Looks like two options.... 40 to Flagstaff, then south on 17. Or... winding through the mountains on 377 -> 277-> 260 -> 87. We're long (as you can see from the sig photo below). Anyone taken the latter route and is it do'able with a HDT pulling a 36' 5er? TIA
