  1. Complicating things, we will have 3 21" wide ramps. For a trike. Smart car maybe later.
  2. Sculptor...exactly what I was designing as you posted. Thanks for the input. Putting 2x2 angle on the buy list. I need some for other bits I'm fabricating.
  3. Don't have that option with dual axles & 110" wheel base. Ramps I am looking at are 12' long with an arch.
  4. Glen: Been doing some figgerin' on what it would take to put ramp storage like you suggested. So here's the tail-of-the-tape: - I need 5" additional bed rail height to compensate for the air bag deflation. - I need 6" more space for the ramps. They're 5.75" folded in half. - The deck will be 1" thick (aluminum bleacher planks) ....so, that will be 12" (roughly) of additional height PLUS the rise when the bags inflate (+5"). That will be a fairly high bed it seems. But maybe not out of line considering some I have seen. I didn't measure any of them that had under-bed storage. Maybe someone who has that configuration could run a tape on the height and post it here?
  5. These are seriously thick plastic. I guess you could damage them with the round end of a ball-peen hammer, swung with considerable force. They are ticker than the pricey plastic fenders for HDTs, albeit a different plastic. For the price... easily worth the experiment.
  6. Absolutely. I just set them onto the tires to get an idea of the fit. The frame is aired down so this is the lowest point. I'm thinking the thickness of a 2x4 clearance at this point. They will move away (up) 5" when the bags inflate.
  7. I purchased construction window wells (plastic) in hopes that they might work. Got them from HomeDepo. Just over $20 ea. shipped to the store. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Shape-Products-37-in-x-24-in-Gray-Plastic-Straight-Window-Well-3724AWE/310205782 They are not as 'straight' as shown on the website. I'm impressed at the construction. 1/4"+ thick. They are 24" wide, 37" long and the depth is 16". They are flexible enough that I can form them with brackets to be a bit more round, if I choose. Tomorrow I will get some steel and start building brackets. I'll keep you posted. They will be painted with bed liner when done.
  8. Cruzin today... 70 mph at 1300 rpms in 12th gear.
  9. So, the flasher sound in the cab is fast. The turn signals blink at a normal rate. The open circuit error happens when you turn the key to the on position. Computer is checking stuff I guess. Where's the flasher relay located? I'm guessing under the top dash panel where the fuses and such are.
  10. Good point. Agree. Planning next outing now....
  11. Ugh. Another $100+ for 5 min. labor.
  12. Ya, they have polarity. So only one way.
  13. LCM programming....user do'able? Or is this a dlr thing?
  14. Put in LEDs in the front turn/clearance lights on the Volvo. Now the dash computer throws an open circuit fault. Turn signal sound in the cab is fast, but the actual bulb flashing in normal. How's this fixed? resisters? LED compliant turn signal relay? Thanks
  15. I have the same. High on the cab looking down and the hitch camera. Makes backing up a breeze, and bob-tail, I can watch the tail-gaters. Mine is 210" WB, and the bed build starts next week. I think I will keep it duals on the drives...for now. I did extend the bed 25" to accommodate a Wing, trike, Smart, ???.
  16. Just drove through Moab today. North side headed towards I-70. Wow. Hundreds out in the open lands. Most we have seen. Ever! I dare say...hundreds of rigs. We don't boondock...yet. Need some rig upgrades.
  17. Our dash computer allows for lifetime (I think) and re-settable trip information. It had 160k worth of commercial use MPG (3.7mpg with a lot of idling). I reset that, so the numbers it comes up with are 'my miles'. I let the trans pick the gears unless I'm tired of 800-1000 rpm lugging up a hill, then I down shift a gear and pick the rpms up to around 1300. We cruze at 65-70 mph on the flats. No rush up mountains but the truck can easily pull stiff grades at 55. The computer gives me a percentage of time in the sweet zone for mpg. Seems I'm there 90% of the time. Rolling out of Cortez today to Helper, Utah, then on to Salt Lake.
  18. I'm sure 3.08 rear end gears aren't helping. We do seem to migrate in and around mountains. So passes and windy roads.
  19. So, just about home. Traveled about 1000 miles. Average mpg.... 4.7 Ouch! Maybe detuning this baby to 425hp?
  20. Ran Albuquerque to Cortez, co. Today. Version C of the Hayse controller worked well . We'll see how long it lasts. Tomorrow we run to salt lake.
  21. Being here, now, the gov will clamp down harder soon. My guess. We head north to Colorado Sunday, then home to Salt Lake...which is way out of control right now. We'll just hunker down in bricks and morter. I have a truck bed to build.
  22. Lou, thanks. Still, not a bad way to go.
  23. Where are you parked here in albq.?
  24. Will the SIM work in a hot spot other than Verizon Jet Pac?
