Actually his fast (20 amp) charger does work with our batteries
I bought the 15 amp one Hemsteadc recommended. $300 shipped. Made here with good phone support and two year warranty. Bought one of Ralph's Alibaba solar controllers, and it worked for 2 weeks before the display faded out.

8v71's were a very popular engine in buses and trucks up until they failed to meet EPA standards and modern 6 cylinder 4 stroke engines replaced them. General Motors made several models of v design 2 stroke supercharged engine, 4/6/8/12v71's and its bigger brother, the 6/8v92. Had a couple of 8v71's in bus conversions, They can run 250 to 350 hp [turbocharged] Still a lot of them around the world, but if you are not a DIY kind of guy, you might have trouble finding someone to work on it. Most bus conversions in the US have converted to Allison auto transmissions.

Just kind of curious, with a whole tearup and a clean sheet build-up, why choose a slower L2 EVSE instead of a Tesla wall charger? Another car? Flexibility for visitors with their own mobile charger? Retired and have all day to charge? 😄
My Tesla came with a 14/50 adapter for the charging cable. I can use my 50 amp RV receptacle at home to charge. Car will accept 32 amps at 240 volts, Not as fast as a Tesla wall charger, but did not cost me the $1000+ to buy and wire. It will recharge my car at 20+ miles per hour, so far more than my daily use when charging overnight.

Magnum calls for 2/0 to inverters. I was looking at backing plates by magnum. The mini panel backing plate looks interesting. Less than $80.00. Boilt it to a piece of plywood and mount inverter.
Glen, like you, I have 3 packs, each limited to 20 amps by the BMS. If you look at a wiring size calculator, you will find even 8 gauge is overkill. Magnum is assuming one big battery, we are using 3.

I am running 8 gauge from each bank to inverter and it is well within specs.

Yes I am only pulling 48 amps out of batteries, so at full output, might get a little warmer.

metal wall?
Plywood. Unit is spaced about 1/2 inch off because of feet. No indication of any heat being transferred to the wood. Used IR gun on back of plywood and it is at ambient temp. Appears most of the heat produced comes out of the top grill.
But I am inverting, know from other inverter/chargers, more heat is produced when unit is putting out a big charge. I don't use my unit for charging.
-
Just checked my 4448 with about a 240 volt 2500 watt load. Sides and front ambient temp. Top [big side with grill] running about 115 f. I have mine mounted on wall so all heat goes up through the grill. Ambient air temp about 88 f.

Lowes version. This is what I actually used, Unistrut is the actual inventor I think.

I work in oil refinery plants. They might very well not be tight enough. Seen hundreds fail.
You mean they loosen up and back out? I use lock washers, so as safe as any nut and bolt connection can be. Lots of nut and bolt connections on my coach.

Very familiar with unistrut. I have wittnessed many unistrut fittings fail from vibration. Surprised you use them.
Started using them on my first solar coach in 2007. Not sure what you mean by "fail from vibration". I do put a blog of silicon caulk on the the bolt thread so I have a visual reference when doing my monthly inspection. Probably 100000 miles total on unistrut, and no failures. Nice thing about unistrut, if you want to change out panels, no new or old holes to make or fill in, just loosen bolts, remove old panels , and install new ones, and retighten bolts. If I only need 8 ft, I mount 12 ft of unistrut, makes adding extra panels easy.

I use unistrut and fasten the panels to the unistrut with unistrut fittings.

As Sehc said dc to dc charger, 12 volt alternator to 24 volts for battery. Do not know of any dc to dc step up transformer.

Actually the guy we got our batteries from sell a fast charger.
Yes he does, but for some reason, I think it was set up for 12s packs, so a lower voltage. Might be wrong though.

My apologies.. It's Schauer
This company modified this charger to meet the specs of my 48v pack. No charge, just shipping for me.
Thanks, just ordered one, turns out agm setting is 57.6, so close enough. Factory would have altered it to 57, but wanted to charge me shipping and $400 so I am happy with $299 shipped from batterystuff.com

So you called Schumacher and they built one to your specs.? How much and how many amps at 57 volts?
EDIT: Just called them and they said they can not make a 57 volt charger.

Glen. I have been looking as well, trouble is the 14s 48 volt packs charge best at 56-57 volts, hard to find in a stand alone charger that will do that. Let me know if you find one. As John T mentioned, solar is the best way to top them off.

I don't pay much attention to the bars on the netgear. I have speedtest on my phone, and move the antenna to different positions, and test the speed with the app.
-
I have the Netgear 815, but it looks correct. They do not really lock in, they are just sort of a push in fit.
-
I have the MIMO, very directional but does improve the signal.

I called Coach Net and was advised that this plan is only available to existing customers. They did tell me, however, that after the first year at $249 you can renew for $169 per year. I was with FMCA at $74, just after it was raised from $69, but did not renew at $159. Afraid Escapees May go up too. I have RA with Geico and with my extended warranty but may go with Coach Net to cover my Class A. Still deciding.
Maybe they have changed, but do have a friend that went from FMCA to Coachnet and got the $99 plan. Did you specify for your coach only? Their normal plans cover all your cars and towds. The $99 plan is, or was, for coach only.
anyone use a seperate battery charger for lithium

Probably a good idea. In my case, have 5200 watts of solar, if somehow that fails [I am running two strings on 2 solar controllers] I can use the Magnum to recharge the batteries, and if it fails, can use my 15 amp charger on my small generator. Redundancy is a good thing, especially here in hurricane country.
