Tom Morton put 2760 Watts of flexible Solar panels on the roof of his fifth wheel (even the front lol) see videos below.

REGARDLESS I still "wonder about" their cooling versus if they are rigid and slightly elevated so as to allow air flow and cooling underneath between them and the roof. If I recall he discusses cooling issues.

To each their own choices, flexible or rigid obviously work, but I see no reason to change out my perfectly working rigids for flexibles.

The panels Glen are talking about are not the flexible panels that Renogy sells, they do not have a frame but are about 3/8 inch thick, and are solid enough to mount on stand offs from the roof. The Foretravel guy he is talking about used brackets and VHB tape to mount them about 10 inches above the roof, so probably not much heat transfer to coach.

  2. About 10 years ago, bought 10 Renogy 100 watt panels for $210 each because they were easy to install on my bus conversion curved roof. Worked good for about a year, then they started yellowing and production dropped off. Don't remember if they had a warranty, because I sold the bus with them still on, but won't buy them again. I am sure John T. is right and they would heat up your RV. I didn't really notice because I had 2 1/2 inches of spray insulation on the roof.

Do you get automatic deposit of SS payments to your bank? Do you ever use your credit card information to shop online? Most of us gave no thought to using those sites and others when they were new and don't give much thought to using them now. How many people on here talk about their weapons and post where they are camped? How many of us talk here about our age, health and marital status? We tend to think of one another as friends but how many people on this site would we recognize if we came face to face with them? We just watched a multi-year, fictional series called Person of Interest based on the concept of Big Brother watching everything we do yet we still share freely. That's life as it is now and we are fooling ourselves if we think it's not.

    Linda

I do get SS payments to my bank and have used my credit cards on HTTPS sites, never talk about weapons, locations etc online, and other than annoying emails and pop-ups relating to my search histories, have never been scammed or taken advantage of. Think in this day and age, some of your info will always be out there, but if you perform your due diligence you are less likely to be taken advantage of. I did watch Person of Interest when it was on regular TV and thought it was a great series but predicting people"s behavior and acting on it, is still in the far future.

    From the horses mouth :

"YouTube is an American online video-sharing platform headquartered in San Bruno, California. Three former PayPal employees—Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim—created the service in February 2005. Google bought the site in November 2006 for US$1.65 billion; YouTube now operates as one of Google's subsidiaries."

Realize that because do get ads from google, but how do they get my private information? I guess google could do a search, but how can they get my ss#, credit card info etc if I not entered it into any site that google can access?

Once on the internet always on the internet. https://askleo.com/the-internet-is-forever/

    • Trying to hide things online often only bring it more attention. It’s called the Streisand Effect.
    • Anything you post can be copied, and likely is being copied within moments, by search engines, archives, and other third parties.
    • Sharing information online, even with privacy restrictions, puts you at the mercy of those you share with.
    • Services that back up their data make copies when they do, which includes your data on that service.
    • Once posted, it’s pragmatically impossible to delete all copies of your data.
    • You can’t access the remaining copies, but they could still come back to haunt you.

Here is an interesting website called the Wayback Machine  https://archive.org/web/  I have searched websites that have been closed for years and the info is still there.

I know google collects info on my searches, I can tell by the ads I receive, but how does u-tube collect any personal information?

Esp given that so much of it is OPINIONS and less about facts.  Have to certainly do due diligence.  Put the work in if you want good results.

I am old enough that news was what was in newspapers and what you heard on am radio. Seemed fairly impartial in those days. Have some nephews that will read something on Facebook and when they agree with it, it becomes a fact. Personally don't use any social media except for how-to videos.

  7. Funny, I also looked at a Dynaquest 260, and also did not like the sofa bed, pretty well made the coach useless when bed was out. Ended up with a Sprinter based unit with twin beds in the back and a single slide in the front. Like it because it is completely practical with slide in, Great for stealth camping.

Actually Linda, many states, including Texas, accept an electronic insurance ID card ie....I can have my Progressive App and that’s all I need.

Got stopped last week in Texas, if cop runs your plate or looks at you sticker he will see you have registration and insurance, can't get inspection without insurance, and can't get windshield sticker without getting inspection. But agree they will take insurance off my phone app.

Have you ever checked the display to see the wattage?

I  only have the Arc50 and the BMK and the only readout I get is battery voltage and amps out. So I can figure it out. The most I have ever pulled out of battery is about 2700 watts and that is with a combined 220 and 120 load.

I use a simple bulk dc/dc converter. 50 amp. Runs everything in my Teton that's 12v. And yes he is limited to 25 amps. It does have a healthy surge wattage though. His ac 120v dc converter will also run his 12v and charge engine batteries. That is all I have seen in most MH is 2500-3000 inverter.

Good point, can use his converter to run 12 volt loads, will that work without a 12 volt battery? He will have to plug the converter into 120 source.

  11. Even with the transformer to feed 2 legs, isn't he still limited to 25 amps? Basically one AC on one leg and maybe a fridge and a small coffee pot on the other leg. 600 a/h will only run the ac for 3 or 4 hours without big solar assist. Now he has to buy the equipment necessary to charge the 24 volt batteries from a 12 volt alternator and a 24 to 12 volt converter to run his 12 volt house items.
