  1. Thanks for everyone's advise on Bakers Hole CG.  Got here yesterday about 3pm.  Found site #12 I could get into.  Took it and then scouted the other ones out.  Found Site # 63 on the river and talked to the couple that was in it and they were leaving the next morning at 8:30am.  I told them I would be there waiting to get it.  We got it this morning and I think its the best site in the entire camp ground, right across the street from the river and in full sun so my solar is doing great.  Now only if they could do something about those darn buffaloes. On our way to Old Faithful we had to wait 2 hrs to go 3 miles because they think they own the road and walk right down the middle.😁  The bad part was after 2 hrs we got to within 100 yds of them and then they walked off the road into the trees and didn't get any good pictures of them.  But we did see many more for pictures.

  2. My bets or still it being the drum.  I went down to Harbor freight and bought a 12 ton jack I think it was around $30 and leave it in the truck.  One suggestion if you do buy from HF, when you get finished using the jack compress the cylinder all the way back into the jack or the cylinder will rust.  As they say "ask me how I know"

At least you have a good attitude.

When we left the ECR, we went to a rv repair facility in west TN.  We were planning on a 4-5 day stay.  It turned into 16 days, with the first week having to stay in the shop while theyfixed stuff (bedroom slide floor), and installed a BigFoot system.  We enjoyed it, taking the motorcycles out to tour the area, finding hidden gems in the countryside.  We'll go back.

Oh, fuel there was $2.68 a couple miles off the freeway.

What's the old saying, "when you get lemons you make lemonade"  Sounds like you found a nice place by accident.  We took a ride thru town here, but didn't see much.  There were a few casinos.  I'm not superstitious but with my luck lately I didn't even go in.
I'm also looking forward to those low diesel prices the further we go east.

We’ll be in Winnemucca Sunday evening (June 2) for one night (along with another forum member).  We will be at New Frontier RV Park on the east end of town.  We head out Monday for a week of SXS riding before heading to the WCR.  Maybe we can say hi.

I just seen your post Chad or I would have looked you up and said Hello.  Maybe next time.  Hope you have a great trip and rally.

  5. Left this morning from Central Calif. heading for Yellowstone NP.  Put enough fuel to make it to Nevada, back home Diesel is $4.08 a gal.  Got to Lovelock NV and put in 160 gals at $3.35 a gal.  That was the good news, the bad news is I stopped at a rest stop 20 miles west of Winnemucca NV on Hwy 80 and while walking around the truck I smell gear oil and see some slung on the front of the 5th wheel.  Look under the truck and right rear wheel seal decided to give up and was puking oil.  Drove into Winnemucca and call repair shops at 4:30 on  a Saturday afternoon.  Found a guy but cant get to me until Monday.  So I guess its time to explore the town of Winnemucca tomorrow.  Sure glad I'm retired and not on a schedule.

Baker's Hole...one of the half circle pull through sites would be excellent for you although they are electric sites which makes the cost go up to pay for electric(no discount on electric even with Geezer). Love the place though!!

Thanks for the info.  I've checking the rates, you don't get a discount on elec sites or additional vehicles.  Its great to only have to pay $10 (geezer card) for a dry campsite for a 40' 5th wheel and 30' truck. Then a bummer to pay another $8 for a 8'6" long smart car.

Part of the road is gravel.  Gets a few wash board places as season goes by. I had a35' 5th wheel with Ram dually, no problems. Road was gravel in campground but individual campsites were dirt/grass. I believe they were going to gravel sites but don't know if they did or not. Call ranger station in West Yellowstone and they can up date you .  I really enjoyed the area.

Thanks for the info.  I'm also looking at Bakers Hole campground.  At $8 a night for dry camping spot with old geezers card sounds pretty good as it being close to the entrance to the park.  Looks to be big rig friendly.  First come first serve so I may try to get there the first to the middle part of the week, I may have a better chance of getting a spot.

I was camp host last year. There was no fee involved. There is a consession campground on the same road with water and electric. Could be the one you saw.

Checked website for Spring Creek Campground, West Yellowstone, Mt ,.  Did not show fee involved.

There is a commercial campground in Montana called Spring Creek. Might be the one you saw.

The one I am referring to is 18 from west gate.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks, I will try and find the one you are talking about.  Do you think I can get in with a 40' 5th wheel and HDT?

Spring creek on Lake Hebgen is good location.  Vault toilets no water or power. 1st few spots after the camp host space are the best.  14 day limit .  Watch for the Bears. Lol

The website I went to says its $45 a night, is the one?  I'm looking for a boondocking site.

  10. I bought the 3000 watt Predator from Harbor freight and have put on over 500 hrs on it.  I am very satisfied with it.  For $650.00 it was and is worth the money to me.  How long it will last is anyone's guess.
Whats funny to me is these were the same debates years ago about the Champion gen sets and now they are accepted along with the Hondas.

  11. My back yard is the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  Will be parked in this spot for a day or 2, then will move down to the dry camp spots.  Cant afford this site for the next week race.  They tell me it goes for $10,000 a week.  Just a little rich for my blood :D.  I will be working here for the race so they let us camp here for a few nights.  Hoping to have a good time, my job will be driving around in a golf cart making sure all the campers stay inline.
Chad, are you coming down for the race, if so I will be looking for you and hope to meet and say hello.

Go to the dealer and get the replacement parts for the push in connector. There is an "0-ring" and a brass collet that are replaceable. The O-ring is a greenish-blue color
Here are the Volvo part numbers:
    1/4 O-ring 85108484 price $0.48 (each) come in a bag of 10
    1/4 brass collet 85108476 price $ 2.86 (each)
    3/8 O-ring 85108485 price & 0.56 (each) come in a bag of 10
    3/8 brass collet 85108477 price $ 3.10 ( each)
    1/2 O ring 85108486
    1/2 brass collet 85108475
To replace the parts is pretty straight forward.
Please release all the air pressure in your system before attempting this repair!
    1. Depress collar on fitting and remove line.
    2. Remove brass collet. I use a pair of needle nose pliers.
    3. Remove O-ring. Sometimes a bit of a challenge. I use a set of " dental picks" one straight and one with a 90" bend at the end. Use the picks to remove the O-ring. Most times it will be dry rotted and come about in prices. Make sure to remove all of the pieces. Insert new O-ring and be careful not to damage it.
    4. Insert collet. Most times I will use the old one if it is still in usable shape. Most times the o-ring is the cause of the leak.
    5. Trim off the end of the line before inserting into the "rebuilt" fitting. I like to do this when ever I have enough slack in the line. Sometimes it's not possible. When inserting the line into the fitting press the line in until it "bottoms" out in the fitting before you pull back on it to lock it in.
    6. Pressure up your system and check for leaks. Sometimes a little wiggle on the line after it is pressurized will help it seat.
After this less costly repair attempt you may still have to repair/replace your pass-thru.
    Good luck!

On Edit: These instructions were written with the "Newbie" in mind.... Lots of folks have already been down this path. Not trying to get anyone upset. This is how I do this type of repair. No need to buy the "gold plated" Volvo brass fittings if I can just repair it.

In most cases the "fitting" is fine it's just a worn out O-ring.

I think it would be helpful if someone posted the list of part numbers in this thread....I cannot find them at the moment...

Here's the post I got them from.  Volvo told me that a few were mixed up so you should verify what the part is when you order.

  14. Thanks
I've got the Orings so now I have to get the time to dig in and get these air leaks fixed.  I should have asked if I had to replace the colletts at the same time.  I thought I did and Volvo said I had to order a package of 10 at $2.95 ea.  Lesson learned, ask questions from the experts on the forum first.
Carl, I think I got the #s from one of your posts and Volvo said a few of the #s were mix up. I think it was the 3/8, they said the oring # was for the collett and vise a versa.  I really applicate your post with the PNs, I don't think my Volvo dealer would have found them.
    Thanks again
