  1. Might want to call them. It appears Norman got hit by another tornado over the weekend... Renee
  2. I thought I'd put this out for anyone I missed. Dave & I started our fulltime travels in October 2006, and had a wonderful 14 years seeing our country, spending time with family when we were needed, and meeting friends we will have for a lifetime. We decided to settle back into a sticks-and-bricks in 2019, and built a house in northern NM. We moved in in March 2020, and sold the HDT and 40' New Horizons in July 2021. Bought a 33' motorhome for shorter trips. God pointed us in the right direction at the right time. We were in the house for just over two years when Dave was diagnosed with cancer and after 41 years together, he passed away in October. I am in a home that we built together, which is a great comfort. I hope to still take short trips when the time feels right, but I'm not ready for that; thus, the motorhome is currently on a consignment lot. For the first time in 40 years, there is no RV sitting in our driveway. I am beyond grateful for the 41 years we had together, for the 14 years of fulltiming, and for the wonderful friends we met along the way. We had a good run. Renee
  3. A friend of mine who has lived half his life in MT said to use vinegar as a neutralizing agent. Don't know how "odiferous" the Jeep is, but you might try spraying vinegar on carpets, seats, etc. Just a thought. Renee
  4. Looks like we were too late (again) checking into the forum. We have been across that road numerous times; the last time was going the opposite direction, coming from Ennis, TX & headed to our property outside Datil (west of Socorro) Have stayed at Valley of Fire numerous times in various rigs, including the HDT/New Horizons combo. Dave also hated driving the rig through ABQ (even though we worked there & lived east of town) -- but we did exactly what geodog & Suite Success recommended. Crazy drivers can make it a bit stressful, but it's not like going through Denver or Dallas! For your size, I wouldn't really recommend NM 14. We lived in Sandia Park, right on NM 14, for 20+ years, & although a beautiful drive, the stretch before & after Madrid isn't exactly what I would consider big rig friendly. I'm confused as to why you asked about Socorro to Carrizozo to get around ABQ. Since you're coming from the north, you're already through ABQ by the time you get to Socorro. Renee
  5. Vern -- Sent you an email. Renee PS -- Certainly hope you'll come by us if you do decide to head south this winter...
  6. Vern - Bring the shooter down to northern New Mexico and go to NRA Whittington Center. You can stay in the campground and all the ranges are within minutes. Annual membership is only $30 single or $50 family, that covers range fees for all the informal ranges, ten if I remember correctly. The sight-in range has the White Buffalo, 6x10 ft. with 16 inch aiming point. Just a mere 1123 yards away. You can show the 308 boys how clang that gong. PS. The Center also has over 30,000 acres of pine trees you can hug :~). Dave
  7. Well, this is a first -- you bored??? You're usually going nonstop from daylight to sundown. You must miss us... Renee
  8. Yikes! Glad to hear the attempt was not successful, and we look forward to seeing you when you get here. Bummer that you took the super-long way to get to AZ this year... Renee
  9. In the over 10 years we have been using RhinoFlex hoses we have never had one start leaking while it was hooked up except once when a park grass cutter went along it with a weed eater. Doesn't mean it might not happen the next time I open the dump valve.... All failures we have had were small cracks usually close to the fittings after the hose had been collapsed, stored then re-extended. That being said I have noticed that the quality (longevity) of the hoses (not the fittings) has gone down since Camco bought them out.... Dave
  10. Arrived at Buncombe Creek Marina on Lake Texoma last Wednesday; estimated length of stay 4-6 weeks. Because of last year's flooding, big stripers are few & far between, but we're catching catfish! Renee
  11. We'll be at North Ranch through March & into April (that's the plan, anyway!) depending on weather here & weather/fishing conditions at Lake Texoma. Don/Fannie -- if you ever get the urge to take a drive out of the city, give us a call. Would be nice to see you both. It's virtually impossible to get Dave further into Phoenix than the Surprise/Glendale/Peoria area. Renee
  12. Wow Jack - 300+ miles/day..... Rain must be messing with your schedule.... Sounds like you might be stopping to see Roger and Deb.... If so give them our best.... Dave
  13. Got to North Ranch on Thursday after a wonderful month in Utah. Settling in for the winter... Renee
  14. In Panguitch, UT, seeing the red rock sites in the Bryce Canyon area for a couple weeks. Still too hot in North Ranch for us! Renee
  15. Fishing lake Texoma was less than wished for this year, record rain brought the lake up over the spillway for the fourth and fifth time in history, all in just a month. Sit through about 30” of rain in a little over a month, Texoma was going up a foot a day for the whole time, dropped a bit then Bill came in and put it over the dam again. So now headed to NRA Whittington Center to burn some powder and spend the 4th with some good chronograph readings, or change some MAX loads to better than what they are now. Dave
  16. At North Ranch in Congress, AZ for the winter. Working on fixing up the lot to our liking!
  17. We're just south of Bigfork, MT at our daughter's house, probably until after Labor Day. Lots of things to fix on a new-to-her house! Can't beat a private campsite in the Swan-Seeley Valley. Anyone traveling through Kalispell or West Glacier -- give us a call. We JUST missed the Quinns on their way through. Renee
  18. Possibly, in fact likely..... but for the State of Texas.... No way, there much bigger fish in that pond. Dave
  19. There is that aspect, but stupid or short sighted as they may be, they ALWAYS swallow follow the money. Dave
  20. After watching this thread unfold for the last 6 months it looks like Texas domicile for full timers is: There is a bigger lobby somewhere buying the votes. Dave
  21. Not likely, what other state do you think would allow Texas to set requirements on any inspection program that other state set up? Dave
  22. Only 3 trucks? That's nothin'! I remember when you & Danielle, Roger & Debbie, Gail & Bonnie, Don & Fannie and Dave & I were all there at the same time... Renee
  23. Excuse me.... where do you see a question or even a question mark in my original post...... my post was just what it says.... a site that gives a different perspective on the financial markets than you will ever get on CNN, and no that site doesn't and never has given financial advise. As far as your admitted personal opinion of "Time to Buy" .... ok...... get er done if that's what you want to do.....
