  1. Public Lands is an app, which is nicer to use than a website when travelling IMO. Worth the few bucks just for that for some, i suppose.
  2. I have a mother bear and two cubs who routinely use our site to browse and pass thru, even with a 6 foot fence around it. Part of the reason I got the cameras.
  3. Good question, i did some research and it seems that local storage option wont be coming to blink. Someone did mention that Arlo's base station does have local storage capability. If local network access is impt, I'd look elsewhere. I've set up a few Foscam cameras in my time, and have had them connect to Blue Iris or other NVR software; the problem I had is those always required some sort of power, which I dont want to run in my current situation.
  4. Ive used a closed circuit system before but set up for cloud recording required opening up ports which isnt easy using hotspot internet. I currently use 5 blink xt cameras around the site we are parked on: they are relatively inexpensive, wireless and battery powered, only record when they are triggered, and have free cloud recording, so I can see recordings on my phone anywhere. They arent the perfect solution, but they meet most of the checkboxes of all the options currently out there.
  5. Following, cause I need to do the same! Melted the connector due to poor contact....
  6. I'd split the requirements into two devices. I put in a motion light like this one: https://www.amazon.com/MOTION-GUARD-MG1000-450W-Exterior-Motion-Security/dp/B07D8LTJQ1/ref=sr_1_11?keywords=motion+rv+light&qid=1557464125&s=gateway&sr=8-11 And I also have a Blink XT camera (battery powered) above the front door. It has free recordings, and connects to wifi and can be viewed on my phone.
  7. If anyone happens to have had BOX 675 (last name of Price), USPS forwarded me some of your mail (my wife's last name is the same as yours). Figured I'd give the internet a shot before I Return to Sender with the chance it gets lost in the post office ether. This one looks importante. Thanks!
  8. Anyone know which SD mail forwarder is in the county/zip with the lowest overall insurance rates? I haven't made the move yet, and this info would definitely sway my decision (along with someone who can do the registration/titling for me).
  9. IMO, Everyone is entitled to react they way they want, as long as laws arent broken. Of course everyone else is also entitled to judge whatever actions others do (as we all do to some degree on a daily if not minute basis). If you believe you are right, dont worry about what other people have to say. I am personally miffed at how sudden and ill planned the closure was, so I totally understand the "burn the house down" approach. If we had confirmed that he was the source of the closure (ie greed or gross mismanagement), I would have definitely grabbed my pitchfork!
  10. Sent my change of address card in thru the mail system, crossing fingers that this works!
  11. They stopped accepting mail on the 25th. My understanding is that they were returning to sender at that point, but I'm not sure if the post office was sending them back. Of course, there was a check that was supposed to arrive around that day, so now it is in a bit of limbo...... FYI, in case not everyone got the email, I got another one from Terri tonight. At the very least she has been communicative, which gives me hope that the Madison post office will indeed be forwarding mail for 6 months, which helps since I still havent decided which forwarder to go with. New Announcement for Change of address procedure - I am told this is the final change ************************************* Terri Lund 6:35 PM (4 hours ago) to info You will need to visit your local post office and fill out a change of address card (hard copy) for each individual. The on-line process will not work for this type of change of address. Thank you! Best Regards, My Dakota Address 110 E Center St Madison, SD 57042 605-427-5863
  12. Just received a truncated version of the email posted earlier: The post office is implementing a forwarding process. I believe it will be in place next week. Not set up yet today, Saturday the 28th. I would wait until Tuesday the 31st. You will need to visit, www.usps.com. Click track & manage Click Change of Address Click Get Started Click Individual - this is a must, don't click family. Contact Information Enter Full name and full 110 E Center St address. Click next New Address I will keep you posted of any further developments
  13. I"ve been hoping the USPS would step in, and at least this is a glimmer of hope that we will have a temporary reprieve. I haven't chosen a new mail forwarder yet on the hope of this happening, I hate rushing into decisions. I am hopeful this is true, Terri has been as available as I can imagine one could be under the circumstances, when she probably could have turned tail without a word. Thanks for the update!
  14. Just another update, Terri told me that mail in transit I have right now is going to be returned to sender, so the check that is currently in the mail that I'm waiting on is not gonna make it. So it seems anything still in transit as of now will be returned. Bummer
  15. I have read this as well, but I suppose if it is a business, the only recourse legally would be against the business, but if the business is folded/bankrupt, there isn't anyone to go after? I did not ask for a reason, since I figured we'd get the whole story at some point online. But I surmise tax issues, can't be many other reasons to shut down so unexpectedly?
  16. Update from a call with Terri today at around 11AM PST: 1) The deal to possibly sell the business is not going forward, so 7/31 is the last day 2) You should have any mail forwarded ASAP. 3) No mail will be forwarded after 7/31 4) She recommends Dakota Post 5) She does not know of a way to do address changes online for licensing and registrations. She said the next mail forwarder should be able to handle. My concern with not handling sooner is that if any traffic tickets may be sent via mail, that we won't get them. 6) Apparently Your Best Address is advertising themselves as recommended even though Terri hasn't given her blessing. Sounds a bit predatory to me, but if they're a good service, whatever I suppose.
  17. This sucks. I always wondered what I would do if Terri got sick, if she had a backup plan. Not quite the scenario, but this is the worst case I suppose. I have had a mailbox here for several years, and have not heard of this from Terri. I have a feeling she will NOT be informing her clients directly, and folding up as quietly as possible. I will also be calling her first thing in the morning! If any of you know of any thread/fb groups/etc where people are actively chatting about this and perhaps have more information to share, please do let us know where these are, as I'm sure all of us who are in this boat would much appreciate it! Also, any ideas on who may be the largest/well funded/least "mom n pop" mail forwarder in SD? If I'm making the switch ,last thing I want to do is have to do this again anytime soon.
  18. If we can hit the company's bottom line (as I suspect this bad publicity already has), he and/or his investors would more likely push to sell the company before letting it go belly up. Thats my hope at least. Personally, I wont be buying an Anderson product before that.
  19. I personally had considered purchasing an Anderson Ultimate hitch the next time I bought a 5th wheel, but now, I'll be looking more closely at alternatives....... I hope their business and product doesn't go under, for the sake of the employees, but that this negative publicity will force a sale of the company to someone more responsible!
  20. Oh, and FYI if you are interested in trying different methods of the Aeropress: http://nordiccoffeeculture.com/what-is-the-best-way-to-brew-aeropress-coffee/ I personally still use the upside down method with a stir and 2 scoops, but I may experiment with some of the other methods at some point.
  21. Going to give this a shot, got a 2 pack of 33 ft long LED strands that are solar powered. Has 8 light modes, so I'll change the patterns up regularly. We don't have a problem yet, but we just moved into a wooded area with a barn next door, so I can imagine it will only be a matter of time....
  22. Amex did this to me, but so far no other credit institutions have asked. Gave them my MIL's address, and things are still fine.
  23. I keep some wood in the bed of the truck, but I mostly use our Lynx levelers. They have lasted for several years and 50k miles, with lots of moving in between. I like the Lynx Levelers because they serve another purpose, they work as wheel ramps when i want to get under the truck for maintenance or lift one of the trailer wheels off the ground so I can change the tire.
