The driver must have some coordination when driving in rain; manual shifting and controlling steering wheel while using the left hand to operate the manual driver windshield wiper when accelerating.

At least I don't have to worry about tuning a radio_.

Me either . I think the radio was turned maybe twice in the last 13 years , Just to see if it worked . ;)

    9-02-22 Update:

Here's the email right from the dealer working on my truck...

well, we are finding more issues. We have couple of more modules on order such as dash cluster and a trans ecu along with nox sensors. Unfortunately they are a few parts that are on back order again. We have a estimate ship date of 9-30-22. It is very possible they will come before that time, but this is the time they are giving us. We are keeping our fingers crossed that they will arrive before the 30th.

This whole 'affair' is similar to our daughters' .

She bought a 2022 Jeep , hit a deer in June . It's still in the shop . One thing after another . Depressing .

I might have been able to accomplish all that when I was 30, had that technology been invented and used. but at 80, no way.

Oh, just to keep  this on topic, no I'm not smoking anything. 😁

Ha . You might be able to do it , if you were .

Or , maybe you wouldn't care what's on the radio ? LOL

  4. Today I replaced the inlet 3 way ball valve for the CITY/FRESH WATER TANK in/on our Monaco .

The original Swan valve was allowing the fresh water tank to fill when the valve was set in the city position .

I spent a couple hours lollygagging the job because I could . Probably could have had it done in one hour , maybe less .

I cheated and simply cut the coach system pex lines with a sharpened hand trimmer for small tree limbs . Worked a charm .

I left the pex clamped to the fittings .

After I had all the fittings transferred from the old valve to the new , I installed a couple of SharkBite straight couplings on the pex and mounted the new valve in the original Swan valve box . The box affords stability when changing valve flow direction and the couplings are a time and energy saver .

Done and not a leak anywhere . ;)

    @Pat and Pete,

I'm guessing this means you do NOT use it when you're on a 50amp pedestal?  Is there a reason you haven't done this, or simply because you seem to need it most on a 30?  I'm wondering, as I've been considering an autoformer, as well, if the 50amp version, with a dogbone to a 30amp pedestal is a viable combination.

About our use on 50 Amp pedestals : In the 12 years we've been full timing , there definitely have been times when power has been out . The original surge protector we started with did it's job very nicely for the first 9 - 10 years before it burned out . I have replaced it with the same model .

So far , we haven't had a single appliance go bad or shut down when on 50 Amp , other than the total power outs .

Maybe we've just been lucky .

The Hughes web site says it's fine to use a 50 amp Autoformer with a 50 amp coach on a 30 amp pedestal - they even have a YouTube video of how to do it and what to watch for.

    Rob

Buying new , I'd go the 50 Amp Hughes . If it's sometimes a little too much , so what .

Better a little too much than not enough .

I went with the 30 Amp because that's what we needed at the time . Then as now , there seems to be a lot more 30 Amp sites than 50 . But , I think that's changing , moving forward .

  7. I honestly would not be without our Hughes . It's a 30 Amp model .

Our Monaco is a 50 Amp rig , but we regularly visit 30 Amp sites . That's when the Hughes really shines . It allows us to lead a pretty normal life without too much concern .

We've had it for the last 11 years . I bought it used , so I have no real idea how much older it is . It just keeps working .

I will add that we always run a 50 Amp Progressive surge protector .

I've heard that when I remove the old valve the old seals will fall out and I might not see what direction they were facing. Thanks for any help!

Now that you know that , you can be careful enough to watch and see exactly how the seals come out .

You should be doing that , anyway . ;)

and how much of a increase is theft to cover the drug habits ? heck even cigarette smokers and beer drinkers steal things to cover those habit's. even if just  ( paid ) time from work. lack of food to feed the kids, etc

Not everyone is perfect . ;)

  10. Empty tanks smell just as bad as a full or partially filled tank .

And , I've replaced all the air admittance valves ( drain vents ) and still had odors while on the road , until we started closing all drains . I even went up side and made sure the tank vents were open by dripping a heavy nut on a string down each . I almost always have my drivers side window wide open . ;)

  11. If you haven't found this out yet , the grey tank stinks just as bad as the black .

Start plugging all of your drains ( sinks and shower ) before travel and you'll likely find the cure for your bad small problem . ;)
