  1. hmmm re-directing a pin box would not be a simple task, oh ye who travels in a motorhome. Must be pretty big, and pretty heavy, at about 100 lbs. or so Everyone seems to be meeting up, and its surprising how quickly people are converging on Arizona. Looking forward to actually seeing everyone!!
  2. Wow Lee, that sounds awesome, we'll have to get there sometime! I am still hanging out in Boston while Paul supervises the house construction
  3. great shot of Joe! YUCK to the water!! Looks like there is a bunch of us meeting up in Idaho as well. Boy do I have hitch itch!
  4. Steve, Saw the pics on FB, looks like it was a great surprise! Nice job!! Lee, yeah we are only Allowed to have the truck camper on our site for 48 hrs at a time while we load it up. but now that summer is over and the place is getting busier they told us they were cutting us slack and its really 48 hrs once per season, so we can only have the truck camper on our site for a few hours now, just to unload it, then it needs to be moved off. ugh. oh well, 30 more days and we will be out of this "resort". Sue
  5. I know that Paul, for one, subscibes to the "I want my home and my transportation to be separate" . What he means is, after he drives 200-300 miles in a day, he doesn't want to just swivel his seat and be in his living room. He likes the fact that when we are moving from spot to spot, we are in the truck, and when we set up the house, we move into the trailer. Its not about the separate vehicle for driving around town. Many people don't care about the separation, but some do. Sue
  6. Being in Texas I don't think we'll see much of the eclipse, and I didn't bring my good camera so....... although, the view out my mother in laws back yard is spectacular and thats where the moon will rise. we' ll see......
  7. yeah, congrats on the anniversary and let us know where Utopia is- we'll come and visit you
  8. I Think thats exactly where they are. Mike just sent us a gorgeous picture that he said was taken at the Abiquiu reservoir. Real men can stay in a town called Chicken
  9. Well said, Lee. We remember well the day the Sands got stuck in the sand. It was the first time we had met anyone and Paul was really happy to be able to help, and I was happy to chat while the guys all helped It does boil down to the fact that we have a group of friends we can count on, and have a great time with, whenever our paths can cross.
  10. Just pretend you are camping! We are sooooooooooooo happy when we head up to Flagstaff with the truck camper and can sleep out in the forest with no A/C droning in our ears Arrived back in Hades Hot Havasu with our new oven for the house. we saved over a grand by picking it up with the uhaul in Phoenix.
  11. Who knew that Apache Sitgreave would be a hotbed of activity on Labor Day weekend? After spending one night boondocking, we left the crowds and came back to Apache Junction, where its quiet!! Tomorrow we rent a Uhaul trailer and tote our new oven up to Havasu. First coat of stucco goes on the house Tuesday
  12. Hey Sandie, Why'd you leave so early? We landed in Apache Junction for the night tonight. We found the oven we want at the Sears Outlet in Gilbert for $1300 less than anywhere else. The scratch is on the back monday we rent a small Uhaul to get it back to Havasu. Meanwhile we'll check out Payson and Apache Sitgreaves NF.
  13. Crossing my fingers that the issues soon subside, Lee. Hope its all set soon, and you get bored with it because it runs too well! We are taking off from Hades Hot Havasu in the morning and heading to the Grand Canyon for a few days. May not be too much cooler, but it will be prettier, and we got full hook up ! Sue
  14. We sure do enjoy having the truck camper so we can escape the 117* temperatures in Havasu once in a while. We stayed away as long as we could and arrived back "home" when it was getting dark, but it was still 116*. Thank goodness for A/C. Headed to Cali on Tues to act as moving van for our daughter. That means we have to take the camper off the truck. booo.
  15. yeah, some will be in FL and some of us will be in AZ. See you in Q!
  16. speaking of stars- we will head out to Darkland in a night or two to see what we can see of the perseid meteor shower. Should be good.
  17. haha, Paul keeps saying we'll still be full time RVers (??? in what universe are you fulltimers if you own a house???)I keep gently (ok, yelling in his face) reminding him that in fact we will NOT be fulltiming anymore, but thats ok, because its a choice we made. God love him, In his heart he is a fulltimer....he just wants a place to keep all his tools so he can use them. Steve, hope all your mods go well and you are foot loose and fancy free soon. we took off for the weekend- only 90 minutes from Havasu but we had SWEATSHIRTS on today! woohoo!! Plus, we had a deer, 5 Tourists, a rattlesnake and a fox saunter through our campsite. Dozer was not pleased. He chased the rattlesnake and the fox.
  18. Hey, some of us will be in Arizona and Quartzsite! Congrats to Ed And Lynn, and to Toni and Doug. We WILL be around the campfire in AZ this winter to hear the story. We escaped to Flagstaff for the weekend. went from 59* to 108* in 3 hours today. oh well, it was nice to get away for a few days.
  19. Freddy, so sorry to hear about Heidi. All of us with pets dread the day...... Eric, Glad the second surgery went better. Methinks you will have a lot of company way over there in FL this winter. We might be lonely sitting around AZ all winter!
  20. Sandie, Hoping all goes well with the surgeries. I know what you mean about the chilliness. It got down to 95* here the other day, and I put a jacket on! It sure did feel good to sit outside for a change though! I *think* you can get an extension on the SD drivers license. "If you’re a South Dakota resident temporarily out of state, you can extend your regular SD driver’s license if you can’t renew it online or by mail. Contact the South Dakota DPS to see if you’re eligible for a temporary driver’s license extension." worth a shot.
  21. Neil, we loved the Destin area but I think it would be too cold. Many people like the Naples area too. There are several Classless members headed that way so maybe they have some more specific thoughts. We'll be in AZ again, so we'll miss you. BUT I am REALLY antsy to get back up to Nova Scotia Sue
  22. Lee, you are way too busy! Its called R E T I R E M E N T! things are pretty slow here in Havasu- for Me. Paul keeps himself pretty busy, but I was eyeing some Help Wanted signs. Maybe I'll look for some volunteer work that doesn't require me to be outside in 110* heat.
  23. Paul and I made the move to transition lenses but they don't help much if you are driving. you'll still need sunglasses for that because the car windshield blocks whatever signal tells the glasses to darken. Still, there are many times they are helpful, and yes there will be times when you walk into a building from bright sunlight and will have to wait for them to lighten. Anyone who is in the far northern regions should look for the northern lights tonight again and maybe tomorrow too!!!
