There are lots of places that don't have hookups that do have dumps. The LTVAs instantly come to mind. There's even a dump at La Posa South that's only for portable tanks.

Yes, that's commonly called 'dry camping'.   I was referring to true boondocking in the boonies.

  2. You might want to consider a small Class C motorhome or a Class B.  Then you wouldn't really need a car and you could easily drive from place to place yourself.

Do you know that your present car needs to be towed on a dolly?  Many do not. You can just use a tow bar behind the motorhome. . easier than a dolly.  However, even if you used a dolly and you only move 2-3x/year that's not a big deal. I'm sure you could have someone from the RV park help you with the dolly if that would be an issue.

There are 3 grey tanks. Your forgetting about the laundry tank. I have the same unit. 118 gallons of grey.

We have a 60 gallon bladder in the truck for more fresh water.

You can draw water from the bladder using the installed water pump.

So... only laundry water goes in the 3rd tank?  That wouldn't help when boondocking and not doing laundry since no hookups.

What is the capacity of the actual sink/shower grey?

  4. We could go 2 weeks on our tanks but we didn't do dishes every day.  Wiped them with a used paper towel or napkins & put them out of sight in the dishpan under the sink.  Wiped out the fry pan & veggie pot with a clean, damp paper towel and reused them.  When doing dishes 1/2 dishpan of water was plenty since the dishes looked clean to begin with.  The dishpan water was used for flushing the toilet.

Never leave water run needlessly.... on/off.  Navy showers only and not every day.

Our 300w of solar in the Western sun allowed us to go indefinitely.  Of course, we didn't watch TV.... read or were outside doing things instead.

    Conservation is the key.

EDIT:  I just looked up your tank sizes & if true you have 54 gal fresh; 118 gray; 43 black     I wonder why they did the grey as the biggest. It should be the fresh.  Strange.    We had 105 fresh; 65 grey; 45 black

    Thanks for your concern.

I'm glad you're OK now but if it happens again get yourself to the ER.   I don't want to alarm you but a dear acquaintance had the exact same issues with very sudden overly high BP and excruciating headache and he had a cerebral hemorrhage and hasn't been the same since.  😞 His BP was always normal.  Years ago there was a big push on taking a daily baby aspirin to prevent a heart attack.  He took one daily for years and docs attributed it to weakening a blood vessel and he had a brain bleed.  Sorry... I don't want to alarm you but it just struck a nerve of remembrance.

  6. Here's a good one that I just read today.  Motorcyclist approached Titus Canyon Road in Death Valley which was barricaded and closed from recent flooding.  His mapping app said it was open so he went around the barricades and eventually got marooned and had to have a helicopter rescue!

That camper was flagged in the State reservation system, so if he makes a reservation at any park in the State they will know that he left a mess behind.

My guess is that a similar system operates elsewhere, too. As a campground host, I can see and read the flags, but I can't flag anyone myself. That has to be done at a higher level.

Another camper was flagged for overstaying the checkout time (by several hours) without notifying anyone about the delay.

We've done that when volunteering at national parks.  They were also given a hefty fine.

I feel quite safe in my opinion that insurance companies would not spend the vast amounts for advertising that they do if the policies that they are selling do not make them very handsome profits. I find many of the advertisements for Part C plans to be very offensive, implying that your are stupid or mentally deficient if you don't buy their Plan C.

The brokers selling Advantage plans are making a good salary that's why they are being pushed so aggressively.

  9. Think about this..... have you ever read on a forum or heard elsewhere that 'it was proven' that people got sick from drinking water from their tanks or getting bad water?  I haven't.

Parks - private, national, state are not going to risk huge lawsuits because of not having safe water for the RVers.  Having volunteered in national and state parks I know the water is tested regularly.

Now... if you use water from the side of a fuel station or similar I wouldn't rely on it being tested continuously.  Just use common sense on where you get your water and you'll be just fine.
