Ronbo
I removed my wheel to replace the rear seal as I am converting to oil bath, and I found a rotor cracked. I will purchase a ne one from etrailer.com and see where I can find good bearings and seals. Then I will start on the rest of the brakes. Hopefully I don't have any other that are cracked. http://my3gals.com/photos/img_0808/ Ron C. 2013 Dynamax Trilogy 3850 D3 2000 Kenworth T2000 Optimus Prime
MrSeas
Ron, Is that a “solid” style rotor instead of “ventilated” (slotted)? Why the change from grease to oil bath?
Ronbo
Slotted rotor. Oil bath allows better librication and no dry bearings. Easier to check and refill if low. Also easier to see if I have had water infiltration. Ron C. 2013 Dynamax Trilogy 3850 D3 2000 Kenworth T2000 Optimus Prime
gjhunter01
That rotor must have gotten pretty hot one time. That is one benefit of grease packing bearings once a year is it also forces a brake inspection. If your other rotors are OK, then you should check for a sticky brake cylinder or find out why that rotor got so hot. Greg
