Repkad Posted October 18, 2016 Report Share Posted October 18, 2016 Our Teton Reliance currently has a combination range top/oven combo dropped in somewhat lower than the countertop height so that a Corian cover piece can cover it over when not in use. I would like to remove this unit and replace it with a nice propane cooktop and put drawer space below where the oven now resides. I believe the current gas burner area is between 22 and 24 inches wide, so we've been looking at the following cooktop models: Verona VEGCT424FSS, the Bosch #NGM5455UC and the Bertazzoni PMB24300XLP. We want something with 3 or 4 sealed burners with one of them able to be set to a very low SIMMER flame without blowing out. We are open to replacing the countertop to acommodate a surface mount installation. Does anyone have one of these models in your RV and can you comment pro or con? Other model suggestions are welcome, but please don't suggest electric/induction as we both want the propane gas burners. Fulltimer51 Posted October 28, 2016 Report Share Posted October 28, 2016 From personal experience, dont spend your money on a Verona. Very cheaply made and doesnt last. The big burner would almost never lite. The paint for the knob indicators came off very fast. The left rear and right front burners are the same size and are to hot for a low simmer. The stainless seems to be low quality and scratches very easily. The electric ignition is very nice. We now have a sealed burner rv cook top and have no need to replace. We had drawers mounted below and modified the counter top to keep the fold down cover. Tom_M Posted October 28, 2016 Report Share Posted October 28, 2016 I replaced my cooktop with a Smeg brand 24" residential model. http://www.smegusa.com/product/sr60ghu3/ Keep in mind that a residential cooktop will require 120 volt for the ignitor and the grates and burner tops are not fastened down so you will have to remove these prior to traveling or devise a way of securing them. I built a drawer to fill in the void in front of the counter.
